  • Some things are growing very well, while others are not. However all that is about to change. I am getting someone in to till up my backyard and hopefully that will give me a better growing medium to grow crops like corn, squash, and wheat. But in the raised beds and potted garden, I am having great success with my squash and tomatoes. The peppers especially are doing amazing! I could not be happier with my peppers. I have harvested more than I can eat of cherry tomatoes, and we are eating squash almost every night. However this high heat is starting to take its effects on my harvests. The tomatoes are suffering, and so are the cucumbers. We have started to get 100 degree days regularly now in south Texas, it might be time to put up some shade cloth.

If it is german chamomile, its likely too hot. Try scattering seeds mid to late fall or when winter is turning to spring. Ive noticed it comes up in march-april and started to bloom last couple weeks, zone 6a.

Thank you for the information, I had a feeling it was too hot. I actually started the seeds in March, but didn’t transplant till I planted the tomatoes in mid April. However it was 90+ degrees by end of April every day. I wonder if I need to start the seeds in January or February indoors. Then plant early March in the garden…. It’s 8b here and gets quite hot by April.
