Pro-tip - When reversing, as you noticed the mirrors move. That's so you can point them down to your rear wheels and make sure you don't scrub them against the curb when parallel parking. To configure this, go into reverse, adjust your mirrors to show your rear wheels, then save your configuration. Now whenever you reverse, you can make sure you don't wreck your mags.
I think that this is normal for luxury car brands. I know that my 99 Audi A6 did that when I put it in reverse. Super helpful and I miss it so much now that I sold that car. It’s seems so easy to just do that in all cars but I guess it’s only for luxury ones…
I believe tilting mirrors in reverse can be turned off in settings. My model S does that so m3 should do same. While the rear camera has a wide angle, I think you see more in reverse using mirrors too.
So I'm hoping that FSD will take care of all of that, as the only thing I wanna do is get in my Tesla, and tell it where to go, and never touch the steering wheel. Anything less than that is unacceptable. Cheers!🥂
@@recliningbuddha my 2004 car had this, I didn't know but one day I left my knob pointed at the right mirror, and in reverse it pointed down. Glad the tesla has this more configurable. But besides my car and the tesla. When I tell people about it they seemed surprised that they didn't know or their car just doesn't have it
Fanboys are funny….tilting mirrors have been around forever and irrelevant because new cars have 360 degree cameras so you can see the curb from the top.
This man is living his dream if this isn’t motivating idk what else is!
Yeah, and getting an In and Out burger!
having a Tesla is a dream?
@@logical_lb3059 For many people i guess it is.
@@logical_lb3059 For many people, yes it is.
It’s so nice to see you both enjoying it! So wholesome 😁 That white interior looks amazing too!
Yeah! I really have been beating myself up over not getting white. Very good look. Next time…
Has anyone noticed the white getting dirty/dingy over time? That's what I'd be afraid of. Also don't want to have to constantly clean it.
@@KipCount no the white is easy to keep clean.. mine is white / white .. love it like the day I purchased it. Baby wipes is all you need.
Good instruction video for driving a Tesla, I must admit having driven ICE cars for years I wasn’t sure if I would feel comfortable driving a car that is very minimalist especially with just the central screen for everything. However seeing Louise making light work of driving the Tesla with your excellent tuition has made me feel confident that I could handle driving one myself when I come to replace my old ICE car. So thanks for the video.
Makes simple stuff like climate control a pain. Why would anyone want that?
She not wearing any makeup at all and still looks very beautiful. Happy for you dude. Beautiful wife, beautiful car 👍
stop obsessing over his wife.
@@niceguy1308 you sound like a white knight

We are scheduled to pick out Model 3 up on Sept 1, 2022 (in 3 days) and my wife is a little apprehensive to drive the car even though she did test drive a Tesla 3 months ago. Thanks for dropping this video (great time, I am sharing this video with my wife).
How’s it going so far?
How’s it going with the new car so far?
Congrats! Really love your videos and please keep up the great work!
@@TailosiveEV also saving up and hoping I get to pull the trigger on a model y someday
So happy to see y’all join the Tesla family!!! Can’t wait to see y’all at the EV meet ups. Congratulations and excelsior into the future!
The whole thing with providing rotational resistance used to drive me insane until I discovered that you can achieve the same result with just a quick turn on either scroll wheel. I usually just adjust my music volume up and back down to give the car the feedback it needs.
I've read that tip a few times but I've never gotten it to work. I drive a 2020 3 SR+. Perhaps it's only specific models or something - what do you drive?
I've gotten used to the small resistance, and can live with it, but it still bothers me - keeping my wrist intentionally tense for no reason doesn't make much sense to me. I think I might prefer a system that used attention-aware eye recognition instead. And when I'm in a bad mood, it just slightly annoys me when it tells me to keep my hands on the wheel when they're already on the wheel. Just like when it tells you "next time, navigate to supercharger to precondition battery" when that's exactly what you just did but the navigation thought you arrived 10 seconds ago and automatically stopped the preconditioning. Sometimes it's the tiny little things that gets me. But overall, it's still a great car obviously.
What I like to do is rather than rest my hand on the top of the wheel when driving, I hang it on the side a bit and let the weight of my hand do it’s thing. It never prompts me and it’s a level of safety if I need to take over. But really I’m just resting my hand there.
@@KemDIY I don't rest my hand on the top, and it doesn't really matter where I have my hands on the wheel, my arms aren't heavy enough to keep it from prompting me. I have to constantly tug it ever so slightly.
I've speculated that since it's an American car, it could have been designed to the average weight of a male American, who is an overweight person - no judgements or anything. Regardless of the reason for the design, I wish the force required could be individualized such that resting your hands on the side would be enough.
@@Muskar2 that’s weird. Yeah there could be differences in design based on location. Although I’m a very underweight individual and it works. Either way I also wish it didn’t ask as often. I also sometimes use the scroll wheel too. That is a good tip.
@@KemDIY I tested it again today and scroll wheels don't do anything for me. And I think it might be because I'm in Europe where we probably have regulations, like I know there's one about how hard it's allowed to turn by itself.
“Steering wheel is too high”
**proceeds to raise it higher**
🤣 love the video!
Takes me back to our first M3 drive...that was in 2018 and the magic is still there. Enjoy, man!
How I use autopilot: not the strictly recommended way. I have one hand on the steering wheel at the bottom (fairly loose), then just tug once in a while. I look at how the traffic is around me and adjust accordingly. Heavy traffic, more attentive, mixed traffic, more relaxed.
Soo stoked for you guys. These vehicles are soo exciting!
I had an issue in my 2020 Model Y using the in cabin overheat protection. After about a year we were getting a musty smell from the HVAC system. The service center said it was due to using the AC for overheat protection. They recommended turning off the AC for overheat protection. Not sure if that is an issue for others, but it might save you some money if you change that setting. I had to pay to get the lines cleaned.
Thanks for making the video, my spouse is nervous about driving our new Tesla and your video should be an inspiration. You make a great team and appreciate your channel for informative content. Welcome to the Tesla community!
So glad for you guys! Once more: Congrats!!!
I was nervous the first few time driving the Tesla and then it became second nature & I took it over! So hard going back to an ICE & shifting all the time! You got this!!
She is so beautiful and smart! 😍 I hope some day I could have someone like her. Mine would definitely wear some makeup to make her even prettier tho.
I am taking about Bingus of course.
That spouse approval, two thumbs up
Been watching you for years. I just got my EV6 last week, Feels pretty cool to move into EV world, I will keep up with cost of ev vehicle and compare it to your Tesla (since that was also a car I was considering.) Congrats again 🥂
u got ev6. am getting genesis gv60
you can also scroll the speed while on autopilot when you get the "nudge" warning to dismiss it
Watching them drive has made me realize that Florida is different, the first time I was ever on the highway I was at 83 and getting passed by everyone, and my mom was telling me to speed up
I would recommend keeping the AC on Auto and setting the temp. Keeps the noise down and then you don’t have to worry about fan speed
Agreed! Setting it to auto keeps the interior cooler faster and better
@@josephyabut7829 also more energy efficient as well 😎
I usually keep it out of auto in the heatwave drives here in Denmark, because I think the AC is just too intense to be running the whole time. I have to set the temperature to exactly the same as outside to be comfortable for me, otherwise I just start freezing at the same time as being hot, which makes me feel like I'm vulnerable to getting ill. I'm not at all concerned about the efficiency difference
@@Muskar2 you can set whatever temperature you want with auto. Auto just controls the fan speed. You can still match the outside temperature with it.
@@chidorirasenganz Sure you can, but then you need to adjust it when the temperature changes and when I drive it usually fluctuates several degrees every few minutes, which makes a big difference for auto. It's a lot easier for me to just set it to auto to determine fan speed and then deactivate A/C and then it'll be tolerable for about half an hour in my experience. But I wish it was better too. Auto seatwarmers are also far too warm for me - I prefer that it only uses the low setting. Our needs differ. And that's the disadvantage about trying to make an auto setting that isn't personalized
Loved how she didn’t bat an eye at the speed in the center. Some people make such a big deal about this and it makes zero difference imo. It’s like 4 inches to the right and is the same distance to the right that it is looking down… without being covered by the wheel!
You can also push down on the right stalk to satisfy the autopilot nag. That is my preferred method.
I always drive with 7 car lengths distance. You will get almost no chips in your paint and good time to react if anything happens. Like if someone races past you in the left lane and cut you off to get to the exit ramp.
Thanks for the great videos. I've had my Model Y for about 2 weeks now so I'm going through the same learning curve that you guys are.
Great video for instructions for my teenage kids. Thank you! Love my performance Y
Cutest couple 🥰 Congrats on the new beautiful car 🙏
Awesome so happy you have a Tesla now.Have been watching this channel for a while and was really wanting you to have a model 3.This channel has always been very informative and positive towards the ev movement. :)
The mirror change is a setting you can turn on or off.
Congrats on the suite ride! Louise seemed very cool and comfortable with the car rather quickly which is awesome!
Thank you! Whats crazy is I too, have a Sonata that I plan to sell and get a white model Y too lol everything you are showing are exactly what I was looking for .. like cruise control. lol THANKS, guys!!
7 is closer than you like?? At 2 I'm like LET'S GOOOO lmao
While in autopilot you can just hit the left scroll button to let the car know you’re awake.
I'm having fun watching you guys - I have the same car in the silver metallic blue and just got it over a week ago and really like it. It took me about 20 minutes to figure out how to get it going and another 30 driving it to get used to the braking. It's been a great car!
Agreed 7 cars is too close for me too!!
Supposedly trailer mode extends following distances accordingly… Problem is, if you turn on trailer mode, it doesn’t allow auto pilot.
The "HOLD" feature should help those coming from a standard shift since it slows like a manual when your're off the throttle. You just don't have to press a clutch or row a shifter.
I put my Tesla MY in one pedal driving mode when I took delivery. I like it so well I never even tried the coasting option. Modulating deceleration is just as easy with the throttle as it is with braking.
Congratulations for your new car.
Great video, Congrats hope you really enjoy it and look forward to all your future videos! btw: think you guys can make a-lot of different content with the LFP pack.
Great video ! I like the way you two work together on her first road trip in the driver's seat :)
Drew’s a good driving instructor. My driving school teacher would be like MERGE!!! BRAKE!!! 😂
could be worth trying ‘creep’ mode - personal choice but I actually prefer that especially when parking, hovering over the brake and letting creep manage the low speed. I don’t mind the brake to come to a stop at lights (and a firm press puts it in hold mode)
Um, did she just say, "oooh, this is so deep"?? LMAO!
She was ready for the free way really quickly after just driving a car a new way she never has before, haha. It was a great video, both did well
I was gonna get one but I'd rather wait for the car and infrastructure to improve. My apartment has no chargers or plugs in the parking lot and the nearest one is a library but there's always a tesla there already lol I'll stick with my 2019 corolla for now. Hope you like your new car enjoy it!
0:41 My god! Why does my mind go there!
cuz you think with your PEN15
Louise did a great job for her first time behind the wheel in a Tesla. ¡Bien hecho! I will say that Tesla needs capacitive steering wheels; the torque pressure gets tiresome on a roadtrip.
This Louise's Tesla Channel is great!
Keep the videos coming!
This woman is “goals”. So beautiful and sounds so smart and level headed. 😩😩😩
My neighbor says the reverse sound reminds him of the Jetsons :P
You can kiss those wheels good bye !!! Lol
They’ll be curb rashes within 2 weeks !
Congratulations on you guys purchase. I’m going to watch all of your videos as I already do. Enjoy
Took me two years before I got the first scratch hehe, but yeah, it's so easy to scratch them because they pop out over the tires. I can recommend inflating the tires to 46 PSI to help this issue slightly (also slightly better for range). And also, adjusting the side mirrors in the reverse position so you can clearly see the rear wheel tires.
Welcome to the Tesla Fam! Congratulation on achieving your goal to get your dream car!!!! Im super excited for you.
This is actually pretty useful as a "how to drive a Tesla" video.
Nice driving, congratulations!!!!
Just as a note, torque is force applied at an angle. So rotational torque is tautological.
Congratulations to your wife and you, NostraGingerDrewAmus seer of the future.
If you forget which way to move the button for follow distance, just think "right, tight; left, loose".
Hey Drew ! Congratz! Question: You have Tesla Insurance right? Do you know how they calculate your monthly payments? They aren't legally allowed to calculate it using real time data like they do in other states...
''First time driving a tesla!'' *Drives bare foot 😂
You lucky bastard 😂 also nice Tesla and video
I think it's so even on tesla 3 that you can display the image from the reversing camera even when driving forward.
Just touch volume up/down a notch to keep auto steering.
Key in the car.. don't confuse her lol Let's get on the freeway!! She's adorable "Never trust a machine", feel the same Louise! Getting a Tesla is going to be weird! Wish we had In & Out here in Oz.
You should have taught her a few of the voice commands like "Make it cooler", "Turn on the lights", "Increase fan speed", etc.
Filipinas are beautiful inside and out. Drew you just need to scroll either wheel on steering wheel to let Auto pilot know your there. No need to squeeze wheel
Tailosive wants a Cybertruck,, but needs his wife's blessing.
Not anymore 😂 I’ve driven it. Way too big
Fun video. Glad y'all finally got it.
haha! you have her driving on MARS for her 1st time driving the Tesla!!
I love your guys’ relationship it’s so funny and sweet haha
I own a Tesla and learned about 5 things about my Tesla from this video. Thank you
She is a fast learner. Congrats.
Wind noise… Very perceptive! Great first drive video 👍🏼
Opinions on pin-to-drive? Security vs convenience, but also the no-quick-getaway trade-off
I always use pin-to-drive. It is no inconvenience to input 4 numbers, then pop it in gear and go.
Omg. Now I know why you’re always in a good mood. I’m jealous of you now bro lol
It sounds like the Regenerative Braking is the Biggest difference. How difficult is it to get used to?
You can even have regenerative breaking on and creep mode on as a training wheel to get used to it
Heads up: when changing directions (under 5mph), applying the brakes to change gears (on level ground works best) is not needed, select the gear and go..👏🏻👏🏻🤌🏻😎.
how is your screen so wide? what model is this?
1:05 "the steering wheel is a little too high"
1:09 adjusts it further up.
0:41 ThAt's wHat SHe sAiD! :P
Congrats man... been a long wait...
Similar experience to my wife's when we got our Model Y. Teslas are a little different, but nothing that a normal person couldn't adapt to in 5-10 minutes.
The white interior doesn’t come with the white dorm or card inserts anymore?
Him: “I think it’s smaller as well”
Her : “it’s perfect size for me” ❤️❤️❤️
I think your wife did a terrific job driving the Tesla-She was a pro!
Lol she called the thumbnail. Great video.
I was thinking you’d say “Geez Louise” when she was speeding up to 75 mph.
I’d never thought Drew would ever use the word Honey
great job, great vid...peace
Ive only been watching videos like yours since 2019 now i drive a tesla m3 too, :-)
I'm sorry but I'm just waiting for them to keep using autopilot and for them to go slinging to the dashboard because the phantom braking. Sense they pushed away from lidar and radar, it's been rough with fsd honestly.
Try just putting one hand on the left or right side of the steering wheel. Not on the wheel part, but rather resting one hand on the horizontal part. That should give enough unilateral rotational force about the axis of the steering column to satisfy the autopilot nag.
Since I learned to drive with 3 on the tree I don’t think I should have a problem adjusting to this.
Thank you.
Entertaining and your wife is very beautiful Drew! Good for you man!
Lovely couple and car, cheers!
This video explains why I love Drew.
congratulations man!
Cruise control is more about maintaining distance from a vehicle ahead I.e. speed versus steering like the fist won’t take a turn for you
Full self driving in my book would be like take me to this address and it should happen. Never does lol
