  • I take you step by step on the process for adding the lights to the roundel and nameplate for using as a turn signal/running light. This is NOT a video on how to wire them to the bike... this is a video on how to actually install them on the side panel.,

    One trick for removing roundels or other sticky tape mounted devices is to use dental floss. You can pull the dental floss around the object and slice through the foam/glue usually pretty easily. I've taken off BMW roundels and reflectors many times using this technique - and there's lower risk to damaging any parts.

    Consider using the Dremel tool used for making the channel to pierce the back plate. It would form a slot instead of a hole that the electrical connector can fit through. Less material removed. A little black silicone in the slot at the back and the bottom would make it weather proof also.

    Kim,
    I just got to this video. I surely thank you for making it. I just received my set of those round LED's from Amazon and will start this project on my bike in a day or so. There is one big difference between your project and mine, mine is going to be done on an '18 Honda Goldwing Tour DCT Airbag unit. Based on my limited research so far, the removal of the Roundel is almost identical. The install of those LED's should be darn close to your operation. Man, those things are BRIGHT!
    Again, I thank you for your closeup description and details. Very helpful.

    Kim,
    Well, I've followed your plan and at this point, I've done one side of my '18 Goldwing Tour using your method and these lights. There's one difference though. I used Gorilla double faced tape to mount the light and the roundel to the light. It's a bit more painstaking to do it that way but, there's no curing of any glue etc. to wait for. I've wired it to a Pathfinder Isolation Distribution hub and it works flawlessly. Now, to take on the other side. Thanks again for your help and suggestions here.

    Great video. Thank you for all of your hard work. Did you ever make the electrical/connections video for this project? If yes, please post. My project is on hold until I see next steps.

    F.Y.I., you're using GooGone, that's good but you were calling it GoofOff. GoofOff is acetone base and will devolve plastic and paint. Thanks for the video. I'm thinking of doing something similar on my rondale of my K1200LT.

    David Howard Can you tell me how you made the call? We tried in several ways and you could only always turn on white without blinking or just flashing yellow without white light. How did you connect yours?

    • @KimMoonbmwmoonie
      @KimMoonbmwmoonie  2 года назад

      its a 3 wire connection. If you dont use a HExezcan, then you need to hook up the blinker Red wire to the hot lead of the turn signal on the bike and the yellow wire to an always on connection when the bike is turned on. This is called a trigger wire. You can use the right side Portlet (mini cigarette lighter port) as an example. It only has power when the bike is turned on. so that would be the white light and the red wire hooked to the turn signal would flash when the blinker is on.
