Like the video. I have one of these units. At 6:50 in your video when you have to click on the play button, i have something you can try. You said you was on cell data at the time and you had to click the play button to see live video. If you go under the settings of the app not the setting on the doorbell camera. You will see and option that says data usage warning, turn this off and you should not have to click on the play button to see the live video. Also when i click on the microphone button to talk to someone at the door it automatically un clicks the speaker button, not sure why yours does not do this. Agian thanks for taken the time and effort making this video. I am not complaining but anything just letting you know what i have come across.
Nice video. I bought the WiFi version myself, but it is essentially the same product, so I was looking for videos to see other people's experiences and came across yours. I noticed a few things I wanted to react on, that might help you or anyone who's watching your video, (meant to help and not intended as criticism). You mention at 4:13 that you can also change the volume and sound of the chime in the Reolink app, unfortunately you are wrong. In the app you're only getting the same instructions as in the manual how you can alter them on the chime itself. You were stating at 4:54 "I must say the screws that are sent with this doorbell they're completely garbage". Actually I think the screws are fine, but if I'm not mistaken (and I think I am not) you have the wedge put on backwards (take a look at 5:25, and compare that to your manual). The flat side should be facing the wall and not towards the back of the Reolink doorbell. If you do it like that the original screws fit perfectly. However with your own screws you made it work for you 😅 Regarding your thumbnail notification at 7:23 since the "rich notifications" are only available on the WiFi version and not the POE version (not sure why) in the Reolink App (although you would need a cloud plan for that), it's maybe good to know there is an alternative. If you're using Home Assistant you can set it up locally wich should work for the POE and Wifi version plus you wouuldn't need to have a cloud plan subscription. I added my doorbell yesterday to Home Assistant and was surprised how good the doorbell is supported on Home Assistant. I haven't already set up the notification with picture yet, but read online of people who already have. And finally I discovered that there was released a new version (4.37) of the app for IOS yesterday and a new firmware version. If you install both you're getting new functionality e.g. to mute the doorbell ringing sound and also you can turn off the doorbell’s status light at night. Hopefully they keep on adding new functionality and features in the future.
Hello Thank you for the time you took to make is very detailed post I really appreciate the feedback I am about to check out these firmware upgrades right now
Hey, quick question :) considering the POE version. I don’t have home assistant atm but would look into installing on my QNAP for this. If the NAS isn’t Internet facing, will the Rich Notifications via HA still work somehow to my mobile when outside of my WI-FI?
I would give my poe doorbell a 2 out of 5.I don't know why it would be so hard to engineer a poe doorbell that you can use existing chimes and also have a doorbell notification with a live feed on my phone when the doorbell is pressed(similar to receiving a phone call where i have the option to accept or decline).I also like your idea of a package view camera.
^ I am new to all this and trying to help out a relative. But, as i gathered a wired system is better than wireless. Now with the nvr system it's suppose to be connected to your wireless router inside your house? If your relative has their wireless router poking out from the outside of their house wrapping around to their outdoor power supply box..... couldn't a bad guy technically just cut the wire? I know for their alarm system i can get it wired to replace their current old wired alarm.... but for their doorbell and floodlight camera it seems wireless would be enough.?
Hi Yes a wired system is much more reliable. I don’t think having your router outdoor is a good idea but if you must make sure it’s secure. I have a network switch outside but no 1 is able to get to it . All the wires are routed inside a pipe and locked in a junction box it looks like a electrical box; you won’t even know what’s inside If anything will be outside, it needs to be talked away neatly But this can get very expensive
@@mysmartliving I mean the router is inside but the problem is there is a wire for the router that runs outside the house to the network switch. But I think I’ll look into getting a locked box as you mention or something to hide that wire
What connection does the chime use? I would like to put the outdoor unit 50 meters away from the house (connected with ethernet cable) and I don't know if the chime in the house will work.
Mine works well, is 40ft away through 2 doors and brick walls. Only negatives are the quiet speech volume at the door bell, and if you are frequenting the doorbell area it keeps triggering your phone alert. I believe the Ring doorbell has a, I'm home feature that stops this.
I am tryin to hook up my dual lens cameras to the NVR by POE, they are both Wifi Cameras. It is asking to make space for the dual lens and I do not know how to do this . I just want to use it with the NVR so I can watch on my monitor!!
Hello do you know how many channels your NVR have ? For example, if it is a six channel NVR and you have eight cameras you won’t be able to view them all. Only six.
I'm sending mine back, it has been very frustrating. There are no pop-up notifications on Android when the door bell is pressed, the same sound as a regular text message is used when the doorbell rings, make us miss deliveries all the time. There is no way how to add another chime, they do not support it, you cannot buy another one. It has been a very bad experience. Also I was expecting POE to be much faster/responsive. From tapping the app to actually view the live feed it takes similar time to an amazon ring doorbell over Wifi. Also I was expecting much less delay with audio, but it has been pretty much as bad as a wireless ring doorbell, you can hear yourself on it as well at times. It has been a very negative experience, to me sounds like a beta product at best. I bought it quite cheap in the UK as it was on sale, and now I can see why. Even though I don't like amazon and ring, I have to go back using it as at least it works better than reolink poe.
6:50 this is something that needs fixing in android. There should be a global 'use unlimited data' setting, and an easy to access per-app override. An app should not decide if i can use data or not.

I went into the settings and disabled this feature Like you suggested
Thank you
I hope this works for me
Great detailed video, thank you!
Thank you
You have an outdoor router? What’s all in that enclosures
Hi yes I do
But what you’re looking at is a Poe switch

Nice review. How do you setup with Google Nest Display?
Hi
I have not tried that setup as yet
But I would think it’s similar to the Alexa set up

It seams to b Bluetooth
Mine is about 12 ft away from the camera

Ya I Liked it at first had those same problems .
I'll probably be modifying the chime with a relay and a bridge rectifier to work with existing doorbell.
Hi
Awesome
That sounds like something I would like to try
I've bought two (sent one back, got another) and neither have worked. I plug in the ethernet and nothing comes up. So strange.
Ya that is strange
Is it plugged into a POE search?
Still thinking to buy this but indeed i will
You should
