I have a 2014 ZT HD. Gravely mower. Just replaced the hydro belt . It was nothing like this video. The Idler spring was difficult to get to. I used a fire pit hook to reach it. An impact wrench is a must. There's absolutely no room under the mower to worked with. Had to removed fan blades on the pump, to reach the pulleys. Cause any other way . The belt kept rolling on me. Gravely engineers could've done a better job designing it, than this. Other mowers aren't this difficult to get to.
I had same issue. Removing the right rear wheel made access to the anchor bolt easier. I used a spring puller and some string to hook back on to anchor bolt.
It's because it's a ZT HD and not a pro series. The ZT series uses different mechanisms from the pro series models. It kinda sucks actually that they don't just use similar systems to make it easy for everybody to follow
i really do appreciate thos video, couldnt have changed this belt without it....i had to do it myself because of the long wait time at my local shop....BUT!!! there is NO WAY i could’ve done this without a floor jack at the rear , and THEN squeeze my fat ass up under there to see what the helpful guy was talking about...point is, they can’t say “safe position “ who defines “safe” when you do it yourself anyway....but THANK YOU for the video 😎2018 zt hd-60 and love this machine...mowing 8 acres goin on 3 seasons and no problems (if you maintain it) be well y’all and God Bless
I have a ZX-52 that has 55 hours on it, and just got it back from the dealer for their winter maintenance package. After mowing for about an hour, it threw off the transmission belt. I watched this video before I attempted to fix the problem. After elevating my machine I noticed that on the idler pulley bracket there’s a 1/2” square hole that I used a 1/2” breaker bar and a extension to twist the bracket so the belt just slipped back on. My point is that you don’t need the spring tool for the idler on the transmission belt to install OR replace the transmission belt. That spring is a SOB to get to. You do need to pull the spring on the deck belt though.
Can you please make a video adjusting the levers and hydro on a Pro-Stance 36? Mine is brand new and won’t track straight. It was to turn right. My tire psi is even.
Could you list the part/item number of the spring puller tool you used in this demonstration? I feel this tool would make a world of difference for us as customers. Thank you!!!
Really enjoying my Gravely and I appreciate this video but I feel it would be smart as well as an asset to Gravely if you'd do a replacement video for the ProStance also👊🏼🧔🇺🇸
I started having extra play/vibration. Removed all my 3 belts. Checked spindles, pulleys, idlers and springs. Put everything back together, and ordered all 3 belts, 3 springs, plus new pulley wldmt, bushings etc. I can not get new transaxle belt on with new components. I've triple checked all part#s. Diameters, id/od, belt length etc. Have tried every single loop point[pulley] last, and still can not get the dang thing on. Parts are identical in every manner.
Thank you, Michael. We have a lot of tools like this hanging around our shop and aren't certain where this one came from. A better alternative though is to use a generous length of long, but thin rope to disengage springs under tension. Hook the rope around the spring hook and pull. The longer the rope, the more leverage you have and the easier it is to remove the spring. Hope that helps!
I just bought this Pro-Turn Z60 at the end of last summer. This spring I changed the oils and filters. Also plugs. While mowing my own property last week the Hydro Belt came off and it took out one of the hydro gear fans. Actually broke it. The belt itself didnt break but I put it back on the pulleys and within 30 seconds of running idle it popped off again. This has a 4 or 5 year warranty on it. I called the dealer where I bought it and they won't seem to honor the warranty. They are telling me it has to be user error. If cutting my own lawn is user error then I think I might have bought the wrong machine or from the wrong dealer. It has only 70 hours on it and I'm on completely flat land.
Hi there, we're really sorry this happened to you and that you didn't get the level of service you expected from your dealer. We'd like to learn more about this issue and do our best to guide you to a resolution. When you can, please send us a private message to marketing@ariensco.com with your name and contact information so one of our RapidCare service representatives can reach out to you.
I have a Zt-x52 and I’ve had three drive belt failures in 300 hours. I do not see a root cause of the failure and with a replacement belt there’s no abnormal noises. I’ve gone through the trouble of lowering the engine speed each and every time I engage the belt but at a loss with what is going on. This is the only concern I’ve ever had in the five years of ownership.
Thanks for asking, and we're sorry about your experience - it's abnormal to experience this many belt failures in such a short period of time. Our first thought is to remind you to always engage the blades with the throttle in the fast position. Engaging the blades at a low RPM would cause excessive belt whip. If that doesn't solve the issue, please coordinate with your local Gravely dealer to diagnose and resolve the issue. You can use our dealer locator tool to find a servicing dealer in your area: www.gravely.com/en-us/dealer-locator
@@gravely Thank you for the quick response. The manual says differently and that may be why I've had this concern. OPERATE UNIT1. Release parking brake.2. Set throttle to slow speed.3. Pull PTO knob up to on position. Please let me know.
@@TMG363 Hmm, that is odd. Can you reply with the 6-digit model number and 6-digit serial number of your unit? With that information, we can get to the bottom of this.

Thanks for asking! According to our parts manual (linked here: apache.ariens.com/manuals/08496500A.PDF), it looks like you'll need belt number 07239200, which you can purchase from your nearest Gravely dealer, or from our online parts store: www.gravely.com/en-us/parts/list?model=&serial=&search=&query=07239200
We'd be happy to help, Kimber! Can you please give us your 6-digit model number and 6-digit serial number? Once we have that information, we'll gladly forward a link to your operator's manual and parts manual.
need to provide more detail on exactly how the belt idler wheel goes in relation to the belt. Just got back from repair shop because mower started acting like a herd of cats. found out the idler pulley was on wrong side of belt going to one of hygro gears.
No problem! If you're referring to the hydro belt on a ZT HD model, refer to figure 45 on page 32 of the following link: apache.ariens.com/manuals/05194400B_ENG.PDF If it's another model you need the diagram for, just let us know and we'll be happy to help!
There is no need to remove the tension spring on the drive belt idler pulley arm. There is a 1/2 inch break over hole in it, with which you can easily remove enough tension to slip the belt over it once you have it in the other 3 pulleys.
Snapped belt on my 52 ZT hd circa 2013... while this vid gave some general reference points.. no way could you replace belt this way... had to remove mow deck still was a trick to get the belt past the steering controls over the idler pulley etc ( ps i think my idler was binding which may have caused the belt break had to remove, free and shim the bushing to get it spinning again which Gravely cust service was very helpful with) at any rate... engineers really cut it close on this model! Got it done but the simplicity shown here... not so much! Great mower though.. like new underneath after 7 years!
Hey there, Joe. We're glad you're your 7-year-old mower is still running strong for you! This model has quite a few updates compared with your 2013 model, so that's why you found the procedure to be quite a bit different.
Frustrating to watch because so much is left unseen. The Ariens video is better and more instructive. However, the belt on my ZT HD 48 would not fit around the pulley in the direction indicated in all the videos. The manual and videos show the belt wrapping around the pulley from the left transaxle, with the belt facing the right transaxle. The only way I could get it back on was going around the pulley from the right transaxle. Ran it and it worked but I'd like to know why my mower with 50 hours on it has a belt popping off AND why it won't go on the way it's supposed to?

Use some vice grips. There isn't that much spring tension.
