  • Learn about the structures that make up the nasal airway and the functions of each. The nasal airway is explored from a functional point of view. Airflow is examined. Sinus mucous drainage is examined. The function of the nasal septum, inferior turbinate, and nasal swell region are explored.

    It's astounding that such high quality material should be available publicly and free of charge, and not only that, it was made by a single person on the side? I'm very impressed, thank you for your work.

    Wow, I had sinoplasty, in 2010, in Thailand, this doctor was incredible, and he really did more than he had to, cut and shaped bone, fixed the septum and opened the airways. It was worse than I thought, hard recovery, but he was really good. He is revered in that area, I think he is a trauma surgeon.

    My daughter suffered from chronic sinus infections for the first four years of life and had to have her adnoiss removed and tubes placed in, she uvulitis at the age of one and I thought I would loose my baby, she also could not hear and did not begin to speak until late, fast forward and once she began school she would say her head was cloudy and sometimes her thought would not flow and she loss her sense of smell, but she is so gifted in drawing and very wise yet there are some things she does have a hard time processing. I realized most people in our family who had consistent nose bleeds or sinus problems also suffered learning disabilities.

    After covid infection in 2020, i have a mucus that i havent got before.this mucus is white , sometimes clear or colored and above all very sticky, difficult to evacuate. I have to sniff it and take it out through my mouth, never through my nose. It must certainly come from the nasopharynx. I haven't found any remedies to get rid of it.

    If the nose traps bacteria and dust why must we have to pick it to remove the dried mucous? Should the body do something naturally to remove it?

    • @PeterCasano
      @PeterCasano  3 года назад

      The vast majority is swallowed all day every day. Only small amounts dry up and stick in the front and only occasionally benefit from being removed manually. But yes, manually cleaning is a thing, but doesn’t account for much.

    Sinus are so complex, just wish mine worked normally. Sadly people like me and millions of others suffer with chronic congestion with no help. Sprays and pills are worthless for most of us, leaving surgery which is a crap shoot since some suffer more after while others get cured. Sure wish there was more research into sinus problems to offer hope for those suffering. We just want to breathe and should not face ENS from surgery.
    Cheers for great video.

    I stil don't get the problem with the sinusitis. As there is a direct way from nose to pharynx (you can still put the nasogastral tube in when you have sinusitis, right?) why can't the air take this way? Why aren't we able to breath trough the nose while the sinus mucosa is swollen

      I had a huge life change (moved new practice) and some family issues, but I am very close to uploading the most complicated chapter, Sinus Problems and Solutions. It shows the usual course of events that cause sinusitis and a simple example of how to address it surgically, septoplasty, turbinate reduction and nasal packing and polyps.
      Thanks for your interest, Im not nearly throught. After that Im doing more technical videos for sinus surgeons and anatomy classes with a lot of stereoscopic photography of cadaveric dissections, merged into the 3D models.

    Is it alright to notice the swolling of one side of the nose during nasal cycle or it sould be unnoticed?
    I am alergic so I kinda don't know how healthy breating should feel like so I'm wondering what people with no issues feel.

    • @PeterCasano
      @PeterCasano  2 года назад

      It is common to “notice” the difference that the nasal cycle creates between the two sides but it should not present a problem or be completely obstructed when everything is working correctly.

    Doesn't a swab test push any infections onto the back of the throat??

    • @PeterCasano
      @PeterCasano  3 года назад

      Any infection in your nasal cavity and nasopharynx is also going to naturally contaminate your throat anyway. The mucus flow sends things that way so while a swab might push some type of infection from one place to another, it’s a moot point because the infection is going to get there anyway.

    I'm interested in "nasal swell" but i cant get more information on the internet. Could you elaborate on that?

    • @PeterCasano
      @PeterCasano  Год назад

      The nasal swell, a region of the septum that has long been appreciated by those of us whodo sinus and nasal surgery, but only recently has it come into focus and been named. I have been addressing the nasal swell by running the Coblator device under the structure of mucous membrane for decades, and I actually only heard the term nasal swell, about five years ago.
      In summary, it is an area of the nasal septum that has mucous membrane and occupies that location, roughly above inferior turbinate in the anterior portion of the septum.

  • @toystory6127

    I did an operation 6 years ago, I was feeling short of breath, and when I went to a doctor, he told me that you have enlarged nasal cartilage, deformities in the nasal septum, and a broken bone inside the nose. I did this operation, and I started to feel that there was no improvement as I thought in the first place. The doctor did a complete removal of the nasal cartilages and a rigid tightening inside the nose, and this tension has not felt like this before, and this tightening is described as the skin and flesh breaking off with the face, and also pressure on the eyes, and this causes me to not focus. I hope, Doctor, solve this problem as soon as possible, because it destroyed my life 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
