First time doing a follow-up type review, let me know what you guys think of these content! The next one I have in mind is the a7S III and possibly revisiting the a7 III. Let me know if that's something you might like to see!
Jason, I’m looking for a b cam for my a7siii. I’m developing a RUclips channel and I think I’ll upload videos in 1080p. Use the A7siii as my primary cam and the A7C as an over angle and as a street photography cam. If I need something for more professional shoots I can use my eos r5(which I don’t like for video) is the A7C a good fit for me in your opinion. This would be an alternative to buying an a1 and using the a7siii as the b cam. Thoughts?
great review Jason, and welcome back from your family trip. I'm still deliberating on purchasing the #Sony A7c #BeAlpha yes am waiting to see what's next, but am wanting to step up from a Sony A6400. Fab review and helpful as usual. Also - another review follow up you could do is with the Sony ZV-1, as this too has been out for a year now and has had a firmware update for direct streaming via usb, I have the camera now as a B cam and webcam.
@@patrickwilliam8060 I think if you are just shooting in 1080p, the a1 would be way too much of an overkill and even then I think I'm understating it lol I would vote for the a7C given the choices you've listed.
@@JasonVong that’s the option I’m leaning towards. I think if I didn’t have the eos r5 I might use the a1. But since I’m only shooting photos 20-30% of the time there is no real advantage to the A1 over the a7 I already have. And since I’m not printing anything the 24 mp shooter will be plenty. Thank you sir
I use the Sony A7C as my main camera and I'm a professional videographer and the quality I can achieve is outstanding, it's light, portable and easy to use. I can't stand this race to have the "most professional" camera possible and then shoot bad video. The equipment is only part of the game, the most important thing is to have something to say, otherwise it's just appearance.
I'm about to buy this camera, and I'm planning to shoot mostly photos with this, will it still be a good buy for me as this also will be my first camera.
I have a hard time deciding between A7III and A7C. I am only extrémy worried about one thing - the sdcard failing and me not having the footage from someone's wedding. What do you think about the fact that it does not have a second sd card slot and possibility of losing footage? I need it for professional use.

Hi Jason, I’ve been enjoying the a7c and the RX100VII for about 8 months. I purchased them after watching many RUclips videos including yours! I’m a beginner photographer and having so much fun with both cameras. I’ve purchased many of your lens recommendations and I’m very happy with them all and I sold the kit lens. I’m contacting you from Victoria, Australia. We are still in lockdown. I’m in a regional area which is very beautiful and a joy to photograph . Your videos are fabulous and give me so much inspiration and joy. We are looking at another 3 months of being locked up. I’m losing hope that life will get back to some sense of normal and miss my family and friends soooo much. Keep doing what your doing. Ive just watched your latest video in which you mention receiving many negative comments and understandably it effects you. Your positivity is one of the things that keeps me going along with my partner, dog, local friends and shows like Ted Lasso. I’m sure there are many like me out there. Big thanks to you, Vivienne and your team. Keep having fun and doing what your doing.
One of the biggest reasons for choosing A7C over A7III rn would be that built-in gyroscope with Sony Catalyst for video stabilization, and tilty screen.
@@giljesusseraspe9225 Gimbals are usually big, and if you wanna travel light, lightweight gibals aren't good enough while they don't support bigger lenses. A7C solves all of that.

I am a German living in Thailand and mainly doing street, urban and people photography. Instead of Leica Q, Fuji X100V, or Ricoh GRIII I decided for the Sony A7C and using the camera with five small lenses: Voigtländer 21/3.5 and 35/1.4, Sony 28/2 and Samyang 45/1.8 and 75/1.8. Excellent camera for my sujets, light, reliable real time tracking with eye-AF, good image quality and many lenses with E-mount available.
the a7c honestly sounds like a dream! I’m very much into videography and have owned the sony a6000 for around 8 years now. It is definitely a great camera as a beginner, but I’m feeling very limited rn. It only shoots in HD and doesn’t perform well in low light. I’m starting to save for my dream camera now! It’s quite a lot of money since I am only a student, but if I work hard, hopefully I’ll finally be able to lay my hands on one of these this summer! Thank you for the great video
This will probably be my first full frame. Thanks fro the review. BTW...How did you get that Helicopter to fly for you man. I will be in Seoul soon. Need to get up in the air and boast on my vlog as well...haha...Cheers bro!
Ha,ha - couldn't wait ! I finally picked up my a7c on Saturday! Super happy with my "impulse" buy. Coming from an a7iii/ a6500, I feel right at home with it but am really loving the form factor. I am delighted to be sizing down for my camera bag again!
Here's the best way to make use of gyro data, for those who are interested. Shoot in 1080p, 60 fps. Set the shutter speed to 1/125 to 1/160, IBIS off. Stabilize in catalyst browse and then go down to 24fps. This gives fairly usable footage. That footage is not very grading friendly though due to lesser bitrate so the more you expose it right in camera, the better.
Great video! I’m loving my a7c with kit lens and looking for perfect vlogging lens… think I’ll order the Sony 20mm! I have small hands and want my camera as small and light as I can get it, love the feel of this one! :)
Hey Jason ... i got a question ... currently have 2x cameras a6400 (only for web streaming / web cam) with Sigma 16mm 1.4. Also have a sony a7iii with a couple G Master lenses for family/travel/hobby/events. I am thinking of either selling both camera for a single sony a7siii + 24mm G 1.4 as both webcam/stream and events. Not sure if the a7siii is overkill for my needs. Due to the lockdown, a7iii is collecting dust... a6400 is getting plenty of use :)
I'm about to recieve this cam as my Christmas gift. I watched your video two years ago, when i got my sony a6100, and I wanted to upragrade to this one later, so now I think i'm prepared to do so. Thank you for your review on Sony a7c
I have and love the A7C. My only issue is lenses I used to use with my A7iii and Ronin SC (e.g. Sony 20mm, 1.8) does not seem to balance properly. I assume it is the imbalance of lens to camera as the camera is now lighter. Of the recommended lenses you have listed, what would you recommend as a good match for gimbal work? I know the new compact primes are great and are listed on DJI's website as compatible (Sony 20mm, 1.8 while only slightly heavier is not).
Glad to see this video aged well! With the Sony A7C II out, it sure is the perfect camera 🙌🏼 they just needed to add good video specs and it’d be sweet 🔥
I love my A7c. I switched to it from a Nikon D500 and it honestly feels like when I switched from film to the Nikon D70. Trading something which had become bulky and cumbersome (D500 literally; film metaphorically) for a shrunken total package. No more planning walkabout sessions- the A7c is basically a necklace lol. I'm back to shooting all the time 🤘
I use the a7c for several years now and i like it very much. I added a smallrig cage 3212 which makes it heavier but it is now more stable in videos. Also the v2 firmware add the eye AF for animal in videos. I also bought the professional flash and it increase the quality of the photos with the fill flash and bounce techniques. With a little more knowledge, the a7c is really a pro camera hybrid. The best is to have the wide lens tamron and the tele lenses with the flash covering all these range. I added also the bluetooth remote and a pro microphone Azden smx30 mono/stereo for the best sound quality. To complement this kit a crane m3 or a weebill 3 will make it definitive package for everything. 24mp very good in low light, HLG3 movie hdr quality. Even if it is 8 bit video the quality is very high. The smallrig 3212 adds a nice grip, make it more stable in video. It is important as the camera is TOO lightweight and every movement is recorded and the Ibis in motion video is not capable like a a7r5. But making it heavier with a cage and microphone and improves a lot the stabilization. The gyro stabilization is good also with increased shutter speed to 1/200s when we want motions. Ibis is very good for photo (even with my tamron at 300mm as soon it is static or few motion) and static video (especially with the cage 3212 handle) . Adding a flash improves your photos more than buying a new camera or lenses. You must learn how to use it and set your camera with the flash to improve the quality. Lighting is important. Not simply the body. All components around are important. For less or equal than just only the body a7R5 you get a full photo/video package fullframe 24mp 4k video, sound , light, I recommend it even today in 2023.
Jason! Hi I've watched all your videos - they're great! I need a camera for indoor teaching (whiteboard and me standing). My budget allows for the Sony a7 III (€1150), a7C (€1400), or ZV-E10 (€650). Which, with what lens, would be best? Or should I just use my iPhone 15 Pro? or anything else? Thanks!
I'm looking for a camera I can take with me when I run and mountain bike in the hills and also for dog photography, as in dogs having fun in the outdoors. Do you think this is a portable full frame? Some of the lenses look compact enough that I could backpack the camera for runs.
Jason, this is an awesome video. I picked up the a7c and the Sony 20mm 1.8 G today ( to join my a7siii and avoid-1) right after watching this video, seriously! Also, I would like to request that you make a video on cage setups for the a7siii.
Ya I also have the a7Siii as my main camera and just recently bought the A7C (with a Smallrig cage comes with a nice silicone deeper grip) for my B camera as I often do 2 camera shoots with the A7C sometimes on a tripod with a Sony 20mm 1.8. Gives me a nice wide-angle shot while I run and gun with the a7Siii. AMAZING!! 2 matched FF cameras with same colour science to cut together in Premiere! 😎
Hey Jason I have watched many of your videos and really enjoy your content - as well as your humor. You are born to do this work. I gave a small donation to put my money where my mouth is. I hope you keep up the good work. I am subscribed to your channel. I have two A7Cs and love them.
When is the next version coming out where the video features are better? Im a videographer and I like the flip screen, but you seemed to think the a7c was better for photo... So when is the new one out where I get both?
Thanks for such a thoughtful video. I've been researching A7C, but it looks like Sony doesn't have a dummy battery power unit that is compatible with this camera? Or do you know of a reliable alternative?
@@JasonVong Just slight front heavy. The Sigma 28-70mm balances much better (I have the new Sigma 28-70mm as well) but prefer the reach with the 28-200mm. The 28-200mm is pretty much the same weight and size as the Tamron 28-75mm if you want a feel of it.

Great job on the review, I will be buying it as my 1st casual photography camera. They create their own lens for it, wow. Which lens do you prefer I buy for it? I want to do portraits for IG, street photography, and bit of landscapes.
New subscriber! I love your videos and your humor! I am about to pull the trigger on the A7C - your videos have been very helpful. I am mostly going to use it for content for my channel, but I also really like still photography. I am drawn to the size and weight of this camera. Also, while I don't consider myself "lazy" (lol), I feel like some of the more professional cameras are over-kill for me. Are there any other full-frame vlogging camera's for me to consider before I get out my credit card? Getting close to 2023 and wondering if I am missing something that is better (but similar in size and weight)!
Aww..I loved the video! Laughed out loud more than once- thanks! Just ordered the a7c and the kit lens with 85mm Sony lens- would love for you to do a video (if you haven't already) showing users how to make the most of the five lenses you recommended in this video. You were just a joy to learn from and your messaging was clear, concise, and humorous- what more could be improved upon?

I assume it is the imbalance of lens to camera as the camera is now lighter. Of the recommended lenses you have listed, what would you recommend as a good match for gimbal work? I know the new compact primes are great and are listed on DJI's website as compatible (Sony 20mm, 1.8 while only slightly heavier is not).
Great question, I want to know as well
Glad to see this video aged well!
It's my first Sony and my first full frame camera, and I LOVE it! Thanks for recommending 85mm lens, BTW :)
It’s my first full frame too! Learning so much with it!
Did Sony make the ZV-E1 based on this video?
Picked up the a7C as a backup camera and I absolutely love it.
Great review man, hit all the info perfectly and I agree with all the points you made.
oh snaps i mightve missed it! How do I sway you to get the a7SIII? 😂
@@JasonVong ohhhh about $4,000 is a start :D
bro ur great ....
i want to buy A7c for travel vlogging. how will it be and can u suggest some wide angle lenses for this?
Does the a7c use the same batteries as a7s? same lenses too I guess. Thanks for the thorough video
Love your videos!
thank you sir!!
Brou, es cuando descubro el lado de consumidor de los youtubers que veo jajaja
Que ya salga la Sony a7IV 🥺🤘🏾
No. 1 a7c review.
No other words are needed.
thanks!
Aww thanks man!
Will there be a newer model coming soon? Should I wait or buy A7C now?
great video
Is the Sony a7c camera suitable for recording long-term videos? For example, two hours of uninterrupted record?
Jason! Hi
I've watched all your videos - they're great! I need a camera for indoor teaching (whiteboard and me standing). My budget allows for the Sony a7 III (€1150), a7C (€1400), or ZV-E10 (€650). Which, with what lens, would be best? Or should I just use my iPhone 15 Pro? or anything else?
Thanks!
Jason what's your favorite camera for video? a600, a7SIII or a7C?
I'm looking for a camera I can take with me when I run and mountain bike in the hills and also for dog photography, as in dogs having fun in the outdoors. Do you think this is a portable full frame? Some of the lenses look compact enough that I could backpack the camera for runs.
It's been a year since October 2020?
You are getting better and better Jason! Your videos are a joy to watch..
thanks for tuning back in1!
Hey Jason I have watched many of your videos and really enjoy your content - as well as your humor. You are born to do this work. I gave a small donation to put my money where my mouth is. I hope you keep up the good work. I am subscribed to your channel. I have two A7Cs and love them.
Appreciate the kind words and the super thanks! I hope the a7Cs will serve ya well!!
I was thinking of buying the 7C Sony until I saw this video. I will wait for the next model of the 7C. thanks a million.
Hey Jason - great video (as always). I'm looking forward MORE to getting my A7c after watching, Thanks lots.
A7c or a6700? Which one do you prefer buying?
My absolute fav travel camera. A7C + Tamron 28-200mm!
nice! how's the balance with that setup?
@@JasonVong Just slight front heavy. The Sigma 28-70mm balances much better (I have the new Sigma 28-70mm as well) but prefer the reach with the 28-200mm.
The 28-200mm is pretty much the same weight and size as the Tamron 28-75mm if you want a feel of it.
Hey Jason, really good work. i bought my A7C after I watched your video. Great camera.
I wanted to know if I can mount a FE 24-70 mm F2.8 GM II on it ?
I use mine as a second body, with my A7III as the main workhorse for my portrait/fashion shoots.
I just bought an A7C and was wondering what lenses you like to use for your shoots
@@RonkeyRong I mainly use a 35mm for medium to wide portraits (that include the background) and an 85mm for close-ups.
Great review of all the features. Looking forward to the a7s III review!
would you recommend the a7c or wait for the a7ic as a hybrid camera?
Is it good for photography?
Dear can you suggest me the better one lens for A7c for all purposes ( traveling, family photos, portrait, wide etc) ..,
Thanks
Hi Jason, can you tell me if the A7c will shoot brackets while using the remote control app? A73 and A73r will, but my A72 series won’t, and the A6500 won’t.
hi, can we do the video recording while charging?
Jason vong if you’re given a chance which would u choose for shooting a videos a7c or iphone13 pro?
Keep in mind you’re on a tight spot. But u wanted to excell and improve on videos
Great job on the review, I will be buying it as my 1st casual photography camera.
They create their own lens for it, wow.
Which lens do you prefer I buy for it? I want to do portraits for IG, street photography, and bit of landscapes.
Thank you sir! Revisit 4:38! I listed my top picks!!
Should I exchange my 90D with an A7c ?would that be an upgrade?
New subscriber! I love your videos and your humor! I am about to pull the trigger on the A7C - your videos have been very helpful. I am mostly going to use it for content for my channel, but I also really like still photography. I am drawn to the size and weight of this camera. Also, while I don't consider myself "lazy" (lol), I feel like some of the more professional cameras are over-kill for me. Are there any other full-frame vlogging camera's for me to consider before I get out my credit card? Getting close to 2023 and wondering if I am missing something that is better (but similar in size and weight)!
also keeping in mind the "still" photgraphy!
Really appreciate the super comprehensive review after really putting the a7C to use! You covered so much!!!
What about pairing Sigma 24-70mm Art with the A7C?
Jason, what lens hood do you use for the 28-60 lens that comes with the Sony 7C
Sorry if I missed it, what's the orange circular key chain thing in the side of the camera?
is it good for low-light city shots?
Omg yes! Thank you! I needed this video because I’ve been debating on getting the a7c or not.
Hi Jason. Entertainig review. Thanks ! I wonder how did you travel with so much gear to Korea? Can you make a session on that?
I am not a photographer even not interested in videography but i don’t know why I always watch your videos.
oh wow thats interesting! would you mind sharing what aspects of my videos you enjoy? 😮
Hi am a big fan
Got the a7c camera with kit lens and after that the 20mm and 50mm primes
Want to try the tamron 28 to 200mm is it any good for travel and 1 lens for all ?
Jason - just came across your review - wow incredible insight paired with particle application I watched to the end !
I am getting the A7C as my first Full Frame camera. I pan on using it for Church Photography. This would be my first sony camera. Would you guys give me any advise? God bless you all.
Hey Jason - Whats the reason for using telephoto with slow mo?
Does the vidio record time limit on the a7c make a difference if your recording on your computer/OBS or other?
for your experience do you think we will have to wait a lot for a7c mark ii?
if youre starting photography and wanted to purchase your first fullframe camera, is a7c more than enough for an amateur photography but planning to use it for business in future? very confused between buying the a7c or a7cii, price difference here in philiippines is almost 800usd. planning to pair it with the tamron 20-40 2.8 and yongnuo 85 1.8
A7C can definitely be used professionally! If you can get the version 1 at a good deal, I’d say go for it
Amazing content! Thinking if I should go with the a7c or save for the a7siii.
Amazing video! I just recently purchased my Sony A7C… and it’s amazing when I’m the only one in the photo. How do I get everyone in focused when I take group photos? I think my setting is set up to track 1 person’s eye
Hi Jason! Does the screen of A7C really have that weird lines going on just like on your video? 10:07
please which camera did u used to shot
this review
Great video! I've been looking at the a7c since it came out and still haven't decided on it, might as well wait for the mark 2 at this point right? 😂
I recently got it and absolutely love it!
A74 should come out in less then a month too!
@@kidcut thanks for the reminder i definitely wont be able to resist that haha, as long as it lives up to the name.
@@christopherdixon7816 honestly the aesthetics of it especially the silver top are just sooo good 😍
@@frnvito ahah that’s why I got it! Just jump off the screen... as soon as I saw it when I was looking for a camera I was like yep!!! I’ll figure it all out when i get it but.... damn it looks good ahaha
Dear Professionals!
Please give an advice
I have to buy Camera and lens for events and travels. What camera is the best to buy, Sony or Canon. What lens is best fit for Sony A7c and Canon R series. I would prefer 4K with no limit record.
what I wanna know about: A7M3 or A7C, which is the best choice in different scenarios
I love love this camera! And I just got it🤣 Yes my first full frame. Glad you had a safe trip back to the U.S.
Are you still loving it? I'm a bout to buy as my first full frame
@@shakeau YES 100%
I love the a7c too. It is very good.
@@CC-gt3ro thanksfir the info.. we're they your first lenses? I actually have the a7c now too, i just got a sony 50mm full frame lens today.. love the camera for what it's worth
Jason ... Could I use this a B Cam with my A7s iii, yes I'm a Newbie (and a bit of an Oldie) ... thanks tons for any light you can shed on this!
I love that paint color in the background of your studio! What color is it? A dark charcoal? Or a blueish dark gray?
does the flippy screen rest flat on the camera body (screen facing body) when you use a screen protector?
my eos rp doesnt!!!
I haven’t noticed any difference with mine personally.
@@christopherdixon7816 i have to admit im using a thick screen protection...
@@Cony989 I just got one of Amazon the brand is ULBTER and I have no issues with it 🥰
@@christopherdixon7816 ^^ thats exactly what i use on my cameras! my other cameras are sonys with tilt screen, so no issues there!
@@Cony989 well I have no issues with it on the a7c
Awesome video. Been using the a7c for a few months and Im involve with it. Currently only have the 1.4 35mm GM and the kit lens. What are some other lenses I should add to the collection for mostly video?
I bought myself a Sony a7c camera and I’m totally new to this but I wanna take pictures of my son’s baseball games what would be a good lense to buy for that??
Jason is one of the most entertaining camera junky out there
thanks for the review. early review from Chelsea Northrup seems to have problems with autofocusing, is it because of the test model given for the review i/o the production model?
Not sure but my video had the market copy of the a7C and the AF works great! :)
Hey Jason, where can I buy used gear in Seoul, South Korea!
Hello, can i ask please how to record same on card sd and ssd hard ? I can alloe that? Thx
Is it best for beginners videographer ?
