- This week we're doing a popular request from the comments section! We've only had a "proper" name for them for a few years, but the concept's been around a lot longer - we're looking at city-formers in The Basics on TITANS!

I remember Omega Supreme being quite popular when I was young, but my favorite toy of all was Trypticon. I carried him everwhere I went like a teddy bear, and I even had him lay on the pillow next to me while I slept. My dad eventually gave the toy to charity, but I always wished he hadn't. When I finally started to earn real money as an adult, I purchased the reissued Typticon a couple years ago and he sits in my room once more
how about a trypticon plushy!
:3
I would like him to do a Trypticon episode, he's my favourite Titan
Good for u all I want is tohave the titans return trypticon Thats all
The original Trypticon toy would be worth a lot to a collector, pity your dad donated it.
I love Trypticon!
I nearly cried when MetroPlex in 'Fall of Cybertron' gave his life to the ark and said "Till all are one". Even now, i get emotional when i remember that scene when his spark extinguishes.
I think I did tear up a bit. I was certainly sad anyway. That was an awesome game, not many stories that can make me genuinely sad when a character dies.
Completely agreed. This awesome bit of video game storytelling definitely sold him as my favorite Titan.
Had high moon been allowed to cobtinue making great Transformers games, and let the story continue, there's a simple way to bring him back. His Spark is inside the Ark now. When Autobot city us built on earth, the Autobots discover the conscious Titan spark, like a ghost in the machine and upload it into the new autobot city.
I dont he died more like went into stasis cause he gave his energon to the ark.
"METROPLEX HEEDS THE CALL OF THE LAST PRIME"
I choked at that scene.
“Metroplex heeds the call of the last prime!” Best game ever.
Agreed
"Why do you fire at me"
The Venomspinosaurus glad to see I wasn’t the only monster
@@flameconvoy7424 that and a diamondbolt reference
"Until all until one.."
Anyone remember the'megatron crushed by metroplex' scene in foc/wfc games?
"RS to Crush Megatron"
Had me screaming in laughter bro
Also IDK if it was Metroplex but in Transformers Cybertron, Megatron combined with Nemesis Breaker was humilliated by a Titan Transformer with ease.
Megatron: Stand and Fight!!
Metroplex: Haha! Megatron go Squish!
Me: 😂😂😂
I do remember
“Metroplex heeds the call of the last prime.”
Always impressed how these manage to be educational even as a longtime fan. Had never even heard of Metrobase, for instance!
Ha! I don't read the f***ing comics and haven't watched half the available cartoons, and can barely remember the original series. The only media I've consumed is the Micheal Bay trilogy, Prime, the OG series, Beast Wars, and Beast Machines. So... Yeah.
My friend very kindly gave me his Skorponok when was poorly in hospital when I was young. It is still not only one of my most treasured Transformers (which I have kept), but one of my most treasured possessions. Such a wonderful thoughtful thing to do.
Gotta say, Metroplex's reveal in one of the Fall of Cybertron trailers remains one of my favorites. I still get chills every time I hear him say "Metroplex heeds the call of the last Prime".
Bro “if the walls could talk” take that in for sec..
This is an amazing concept idea lore is crazy
Everyone:Fortress maxiumus is the tallest Toy
Siege Unicron:Hold my energon
Unicron: Hold my planet
He's notSiege, he's part of a mail order called Hasbro Pulse Labs and was a crowdfunded project
HasbroPulse is actually War for Cybertron Unicron.
But Fortress Maximus is 24inches and metroplex is over 24inches
Hugo Dude unicorn is about 27 inches
Titans appear.
Unicron: *OH! What cute, little bots.*
Same with primus hut he too sleepy
Jobby the Hong this is bad comedy
FT40 will dwarf Haslab Unicron.
What I'd give for one or more of the Titans to be in the live-action films. Imagine Metroplex and Trypticon battling it out in the heart of New York City.
*plays the godzilla theme*
@@ChangedMyNameFinally69 oh boy.. and trypticon being Tokyo because Godzilla came from Japan (correct me please I don't know shit about Godzilla ;-;)
@@EJS-jj8py Yeah bro you're right
I mean, it would fuck the budget but it would be awesome to watch
@@EJS-jj8py I mean, trypticon is supposed to be a space station though and godzilla originally showed up to trash Tokyo, so what if metroplex was actually Tokyo and trypticon came down outta space and landed off the coast after being shot down by a preemptive strike, leading then to the showdown
“Why do you fire at me”
Rip metroplex
Your channel is frigging great man. I've been a transformers nut since i was 4 please keep it up. I grew up with transformers from the very beginning.
Could you do a Basics for the following:
Humans- the fleshy pals that tag along for better or for worse
The War- why are they fighting in the first place
The Insecticons- the ravenous swarm
Theme Songs- The songs that tell the story.
Flight- Built in power or unique ability?
Special Weapons- Unique weapons with names and backstories.
The flight is built in most autobots don't like to fly
I'm pretty sure he already did the Insecticons, but the War (and the other reasons for why the Autobots and Decepticons always clash) sounds interesting.
Would love to see one on the war!
Currently he has done 3 of those, the war, humans and insecticons
Trypticon is and will always be my favorite Transformers city, now calling it Titan. Could you do a video of both Metroplex and Trypticon. I would say do only Trypticon but you can't have Trypticon without Metroplex.
MY MAN! Trypticon is literaly MehaGodzilla of the Transformers universe, and one of the coolest Decepticons in my opinion...although his lack in media, kinda makes me forget about him to time to time.
I certainly love Trypticon and Metroplex along with Fortress Maximus as the giants they are, especially the role Metroplex had in Fall of Cybertron.
My favorite titan transformer is definitely Metroplex. I remember as a child watching Transformers Cybertron and enjoying its iteration of the character. Then, Fall of Cybertron comes out, and his version there is fantastic. I love how he’s this secret weapon slumbering for years, waiting for the call by whichever prime needed him. That, and I love how he’s essentially a walking talking artillery platform, destroying everything I tell him to.
I like using the term 'citadel' to refer to these, as it sounds like city but means fortress.
I'd love to see a basics on TF Animated. That show stole my favorite show spot from Beast Wars, the one I grew up with. They both remain, in my opinion, the best written Transformers shows so far.

War for Cybertron Unicron Toy: You underestimate me Chris
“Metroplex heeds the call of the last Prime.” Epic @5:00
loved the battles between Metroplex & Trypticon in season 3 when I was a kid. Also, I was the only one of my friends to have Trypticon - it seemed everyone had Metroplex in the 80's, so that made me cool LOL, at least among my TF friends.
proud owner of gen 1 metroplex in pristine condition (originally gifted to me as a kid)
Metroplex was always my favorite autobot
I think I'm gonna have to pin this one - no, Omega Supreme isn't a Titan. He turns into a rocket launchpad, not a city. He's roughly the height of a combiner - he'd fit in the palm of a Titan's hand. He's now had a Titan-class figure released in the "Siege" line, but being a Titan-class figure isn't the same as being "A TITAN" in-fiction (elsewise Devastator and Predaking would count too), and while it's possible some media might take this approach with him in the future, none has yet.
Same deal for Overlord, Star Convoy, Dai Atlas, Grandus, Gigastorm, etc - they are just tall, ordinary Transformers who, at best transform into bases scaled to be crewed by human/Micromaster-scale beings. That scale issue related to the matter of BlackZarak that a few people have brought up - my concern there was actually not "do I mention BlackZarak," but rather, "do I even mention Grand Maximus," because the fictional appearances of those these characters in the Masterforce cartoon only present them as being about combiner-height. In the end I went back to their tech specs, which specifically called out Grand as a huge fortress, and BlackZarak as shrunken from his original height, so I split the difference, also factoring in that Scorponok and BlackZarak are the same character, so I stressed that it was about "new characters," not "new toys," while also including a short clip of BZ. The greater complications of the Maximuses and Zaraks would, of course, be addressed in any future episodes dedicated to those individual characters.
Chris McFeely - I see. I just figured, OG Metroplex was just a fortress, not a whole city, and OG Omega Supreme is so big, his arms, alone, turn into a rocket big enough to carry most, if not all, of the season 1 and 2 Autobots, I thought they, or at least the original cartoon’s depiction, would be of comparable size.
Omega is a little bigger than the combiners. About a head bigger than devastator. There's an episode where they fight. He also beat menasor once while saving superion
Chris McFeely
I'm pretty sure that combiners would reach up to Omega Supreme's knee( except Predaking or Volcanicus) . It would make sense if they did, I mean just think about the scale and Omega Supreme reaches up to a Titan's knee. But that's just my own personal opinion, and Omega Supreme is still not a Titan.
Just bigger than a combiner.
Actually omega is a guardian robot
I liked it when Captain Kirk, with Ratchet's help, took control of Fortress Maximus, reformatted him as an Autobot-scale Enterprise, and fought Trypticon as Fortress Tiberius. That was cool.
Im sorry what? I need to see this
@@Miss_Sahira A Star Trek/Transformers crossover comic by IDW.
Can you do a basics on Prowl? He has had an interesting history. I love your channel. Keep up the great videos!
Shipwreck Delgado *flips table*
Punches one eye out.
Ok
It’s made.
What would be awesome(and totally unexpected) would be an episode telling the story about the Transformers that accompanied each Titan(Scamper, Six Gun, Slammer, Full-Tilt.)Even diving into the “Titan Masters” they have now. Though Windblade being flushed out would be cool too despite those who dont care for her.
The Broken Baller I think you mean fleshed out though those that don't like her would probably agree with your choice of the word flush.
Personally, I'd have preferred the likes of Scamper, Full Tilt and Fasttrack were the City Speakers in modern fiction.
Mark Mc Donnell we also have weird things like “City Commander” which tend to never be mentioned. (I imagined it like it’s the power to control the Titans or make them act while City Speaker’s communicate with the Titans.)
Never forget Six-Gun!
Excellent video. I find the Transformers canon/timeline one of the more confusing and extense. It makes it interesting, but videos like these help you sort out what the heck is what and where things originated from. In other words: GREAT JOB!
Could you do an episode on the Quintessons and the Trans-Organics, or Primacron and the Oracle?
Glenn_o'Schner he covered most of those on his episode about creation myths
WILL METROPLEX BE ABLE TO DEFEND AND PROTECT CYBERTRON FROM TRYPTICON AND STARSCREAM,S EVIL HEARTLESS PLANS
AND OPTIMUS PRIME HE SAYS IS LAST WORDS IN TRANSFORMERS TITANS RETURN THIS IS THE BEGINNING OF THE END
I would love to see Hasbro make a New Titan figure that’s actually a scramble city combiner where the four limb bots are about leader class sized and the main body figure is about Combiner Wars Devastator sized. They could actually call the full figure Scramble City and have it as the home/ birthplace of the combiners that have that combiner style. That would be cool
Another great episode Chris, a very neat look at the Titans.
I once theorized there had to be a titan on Junkion too as a way to explain where the Junkions came from.
Thanks again for your time on this! Awesome, as always.Springer and/or the Wreckers re my suggestions for a topic.
I wanna see a Basics episode on the Wreckers.
That's done.
Yeah, it's already an episode. I wanna say it's one of the older ones.
it’s been so good seeing titans show up on tv screens the past couple of years, cyberverse was so kind to us and the wfc trilogy bringing back the omega sentinels was pretty neat.
Trypticon is my favorite of course. I'm so glad to have gotten him, in the last batch (a good one for the hips and tail problem) in the titans returns line, so nice, so big
I remember getting Metroplex from my grandma when I was 10 or so. Still exciting to think about!!!!
This was great, and seeing Omega Supreme in a gunnery position on the shoulder of Metroplex @9:00 gives you a great perspective of his size
I used to think that Metroplex and Fortress Maximus wear the same transformer but work given different names for different transformer installations. That is until I realized that the two Titans had different overall designs.
Big fan of your work here. Always amazed to learn new things about Transformers. Keep up the good work.
A giant space warship that transforms into a robot and is crewed by smaller-than-normal members of a race?
Hmm…
Super Dimension Fortress Maximus amirite?
I like to see the Basics on Mini-cons. (Going from the largest Cybertronian's to the smallest.)
SuperAce1 I also would like to see that as well.
History of Smokescreen (or the Datsun "brothres" in general) would be awesome.
Over the years, we've received new Titans in the form of Croaton, Iaconus and the Dweller in Cyberverse, Citadel Secundus in Rescue Bots Academy, and Terratronus in EarthSpark.
I enjoy revisiting some of your older videos! Nice to have it playing the background...
I remember asking you if you were going to do an episode on the Titans as well as Powermasters, Targetmasters, Female Transformers, etc. I’m glad that the Titans now have one
What an awesome sense of scale that one comic book drawing gives you in regard to their size. Metroplex has both Omega Supreme and Superion sitting on top of him, making them both look like little bugs crawling around on him
I’d love to see a character focus on Beachcomber or Cosmos, or a look at the Quintessons. I know that Hasbro apparently doesn’t want that to be the case anymore, but their role as the creators of the Transformers is really interesting
A tid bit left out is the Japanese side lore to explain Brave Maximus is the first of the three Maximus, which Fortress based his transtector on.
Complicated stuff best left for a dedicated Fort Max episode!
I am extremely fortunate to have all three Titan class! They are HUGE!!!
My favorite Titan has always been Fortress Maximus, he has always stood taller than Metroplex, for he Fortress Maximus is the poster bot for Titan Transformers. :3 Anyone else agree? :D
Maximus is a big deal but his biggest roles are more normal sized, so nah, metroplex is absolutely the poster boy of titans.
An episode of the basics about either Nightbeat, Skylynx, Tailgate, or Whirl
Great video as always. I stopped at Windblade as I don't want to get a spoiler ahead of my IDW Phase 2 Vol. 7 arriving tomorrow :-D
Really nice series of videos (the basics) keep it on man, great stuff.
I would totally love to see the basics on sideways
Your channel is awesome!Keep doing the series! Also can you make the basics on minicons?
If I remember correctly... Fortress Maximus was a head master in the animated series, and his head master was a bit whiny as I recall... but none the less, I loved Fortress Maximus.
Yeah he was but in the japanese Headmasters,he was more than enough of a man who would rather take in charge of the situation ahead, even if it means babysitting Daniel and taking another route where something doesn't fit quite right in ep.6 of Headmasters. Thanks Daniel. >:/
Muhd Wahid in head masters it was his head that was the 'brains'...he was known as "fortress" and the main (larger city bot) was simply a starship for the headmasters to travel around in.it didn't have a mind of its own or come "alive" untill fortress merged with it....and in headmasters ALL of the mini bots (heads in robot mode) were actually genuine transformers who built the larger bots (transtectors) so they could have vechilles to pilot and then transform into regular sized robots to enable them to join in the fight which is completley different to how the headmasters were portrayed in the west.
Yeah,it was pretty cool.
According to Scorponok, Fortress Maximus also came himself in that series.
XD Nice one,man.
Metroplex and Trypticon where my favorite Titans! Fortress Maximus and Scorpiox felt more like transforming spaceships!!
Just remember, next year we will get a colossal third party fortress maximus whos probably the size of 6 MP transformers
The basics on wheeljack
They did
The phrase "by the Allspark of Cybertron!" was used as an expression of surprise in the Transformers Cybertron cartoon.
Another Great Vid!
How about the basics on Transformers Prime?
Great vid as always, I did feel Black Zarak and Gigastorm could have done with a mention though.
If I had to pick a favorite it would be Scorponok, mostly because of his figure design, the fact that he has a beast mode and the way he was portrayed in the Marvel G1 Comic.
On that note I think that the many versions of Scorponok would make for a very intriguing episode of The Basics.
The comics and Cyberverse Cartoons have introduced more Titans such as Lodestar, Cargohold, Citadel, Waypoint, Iaconus, Croaton and reimagined the Dweller as a Titan.
How about an episode on Waspinator? Waspinator good bot. Bzzz
Sean McFadden It’s already made.
@@garthdavis4320 I am aware. This comment was from 2 years ago, before the Waspinator episode.
Sean McFadden Well, someone had to say something.
@@garthdavis4320 Fair enough
Its Wazzzzzpinator according to earth wars
Please consider a Basics video on Scorponok! My favorite of the citybots
James Ignatius It’s already released.
The 2nd TF comic I made when I was young highlighted Metroplex and was going to have Trypticon, but it was so much work it fizzled out about halfway through.
Really bummed that IDW didn't reimagine the Beast Wars bases Orcanoch and Arachnid as Titans, although I do love to bits thier reuse of Armada Tidal Wave
Tako Tank would have made a great partner vehicle to Orcanoch too, ala Metroplex and Six-Gun
And as Windblade said herself The Titans have returned
This man needs a raise
"Run the giant Bumblebee had come back for revenge"- Megatron
My Favorite BaseFormer is Brave Maximus BY FAR!!! The most powerful of all, created by Primus to destroy Unicron, he is a force to be recon with. He is so powerful that he only reacts to Humans and Unicron himself to attack!!! Plus the mold and paint scheme is the best of all!!!
Picking up Black Zarak today... my 8th Titan. Awesome toys.
You mentioned the difficulty of scale for figures. I always thought the Energon line did this really well. Prime, Galvatron, and Omega stood their right size next to other bots, yet if you put them next to Unicorn and Primus planet figures, they matched the scale there for when they grew to larger sizes in the show. The scale matched for whichever figure they were next to.
I remember when in italy metroplex and trypticon were sold....i sooo wanted them but they were fucking expensive ...every time i saw their pics in the comic books i started to drool
Wait, Omega Supreme doesn’t count as a Titan?
Omega is a Guardian, he is Combiner size.
Hektols if he is combiner sized then why dont we have a titan class omega supreme to fight titan class Devastator
Omega supreme is way too small to match up.
Not even close to big enough in recent depictions.
Omega Supreme was going to be a Titan, in the Titan's Return line. But everyone voted for Trypticon to be released in 2017
Fort Max is one of my fav in the IDW comics
Fortress Maximus was always cool, it feels like an event when he shows up.
After I watched this I could only hear in my head was: imagine if all of them could combine
I like to think of Fort Max with his city form, he just shrinks down to his robot form.
I mean, that kinda stuff isn't too rare in TF anyway.
It's a shame due to their size and how expensive they would be, they can't make many of them in toy form.
I originally thought only four of them existist like Metroplex, Fortress Maxiumus, Scorponok and Trypicon but thanks to that Cyberverse cartoon showing more, I wanted to see those new ones in toy forms!
I’d like to see a g1 inspired titan that was in the ocean.
How about the basics of minicons?
It's done.
My favorite TITAN is Fortress Maximus
Do you think you can do another video about Trypticon?
Or one about the Wreckers? And one about the Triple Changers?
This message is for Chris McFeely, the creator of these videos.
Seems they have returned
😏

C'mon hasbro, gives us our five foot tall super toy, you're holding out on us
Basics on Action Masters next please.
rodster6 I'd love to see that especially any information on the unreleased Actionmaster toys such as Predaking, Ultra Magnus and Arcee.
Then patreon 'em
Hey your videos are awesome and I was wondering if you could do a video on the autobot perceptor
I honestly like them being called “titans” and having an entity that can speak directly to them known as “city speakers“. Watching the “return of the Titans“ series gave me my first glimpse into wind blade’s abilities. I have never watched anything beyond the G1 series. Nothing really peaked my interest until the machinima series started coming out
YOUUUU MAAADE MEEEEE!!!
2:09 That's 100% a Pegasus-class ship from Mobile Suit Gundam, and nobody can tell me any different.
Say what yall want . I just love this TITAN . Like chris said , a transformers so large it turn into a city . Towering every bots .
Finally 😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
Still would be grateful for The Basics on THE WRECKERS!
How bout an episode that talks about Omega Surpeme and/or other characters similar to him?
Keeping it colossal with the Titans, they've formed the franchise's massive shadow for years until now, where they can come out of hiding.
I heard Predaking was the only combiner who didn’t fall victim to any mental restraints
What I love about these videos is they are great research for my own Transformers continuity fic (hopefully I'll be able to start writing by the end of the year). Debating on kind of using a composite character for Omega Supreme and Fortress Maximus. Cause why shouldn't old OS be the biggest thing there is?
Yknow the ancient origin and Titan naming immediately make Greek Mythology Titans come to mind for me
