- Greenhouse pepper production is based on a year long production cycle. Typically, seeding occurs in early to mid October, plants are moved from the nursery into the production greenhouses six weeks later, just before Christmas. Harvest begins in late March and continues through to the following November. It takes roughly four months from seeding to first pick.

Pepper plants produce even better the second and third yr. They live up to 7 Years. The stalk can get 5 inches thick like a small tree trunk. I don't understand what u would kill the plants at the end of the season?? They literally become far better producers over time.
Because to keep the greenhouse warm during the winter it costs a lot of money.
@@draculakickyourass you can over winter the plant by chopping it completely down to stalk and transplanting it into little pots, cutting back the root system too. Then you can just keep it inside your house and water it once every week or so. I successfully did this last yr

I agree! We've developed this amazing, complex, modern technology, so we can provide the world with utterly tasteless, unsatisfying, nutrient depleted peppers. If people knew how easy it is to grow them, how rewarding it is, and how delicious they taste, perhaps more of us would grow them.

Wow, that robot was slow as hell. I've been in the software/hardware industry since the mid 90s and I can think of several ways to speed that thing up and get some real production from it.
How much cost it comes to make sach a farm house. How much money and land required in this. Pl reply on wordsapp
It's a proof-of-concept robot, not a production robot. The robot in this video is just a "hobby" robot arm with some photocells added. Production agricultural harvesting robots are much, much faster than human workers, but they have to be designed for the specific crop and the specific growing setup.

do they just shake the plants for pollination? where are the pollinators?
usually they use bumblebees for that. A bumblebee is bigger than other beneficial insects and they create more vibrations when they land on the plants. Vibration is all you need for peppers and tomatoes as they are self pollinating
You can buy pollination bumblebees in boxes in most countries. Its cheap and effective.

i thought
using the robot to pick the pepper was longer than human did
yes but its like a learning curve,, a human baby isnt capable of picking a bell pepper,, but when its grown and know how to do it, it becomes faster.
same goes for robots.. it must learn and improve,, benefit is that a robot dont need sleep and rest like a human do,, it can harvest 24/7 all year without holyday. hehe.
im a 57 year old mecanic, and i remember the first say cnc lacing robots, they wasnt very effective and usually had to be teachd its movements by a human operator.
todays robots, you just put in the metal and the robots push out finisd parts depending of the program you put in.

You won't stop automation the only solution is to join it. Rather think of a field that has an opportunity for automation and start a business in that field and automate the tasks needed for production. Like they say if you can't beat them join them. This why I did my Masters in computer Science specializing in AI.
@@samkom33 that wasnt the case with that robot, it was using image recognition to draw a map then trying to calculate where the fruit is, then locating it based on the map, clamping down, then snipping hoping that it hits the stalk... If that thing were learning it would run a lot better than it was, I could almost bet they've had that thing forever and they just cant get it right, in fact this is most likely they best it has ever run which is why they filmed it.
