- It's Not Mezcal exactly, and it is NOT Tequila, but it does come form Jalisco, and it is made from Agave. It is best when made in the traditional manner, and I am really enjoying it. I have 3 Raicillas from La Venenosa to try, so watch, like and enjoy!
Cheers!

Love these explorations into lesser-known spirits, Pete - you always do a great, engaging job!
Thank you kindly! It is hard know if anyone is interested in this stuff, so I appreciate it!
Sample bottles and small format bottles are definitely the way to go.
I've saved so much money finding out that some brands are not for me.
Totally agree! Love a sample, and a taste test!
I love when you do these videos about weird stuff no one has heard of!
I'm shocked that the Total Wine near me has one brand of raicilla: Manik. However, one of the reviews mentions that La Venenosa is much better, so unless they have a tasting of it in the store, I won't try it for a while. Like others, this is the first time I've heard of raicilla.
I wish more products came in small bottles. Airplane bottles at 50ml are a little too small, but 200ml seems like the perfect amount to both try it on its own and with cocktails.
Thanks! I agree 200 ml is perfect enough to try and not too expensive. I have not heard of Manik but the internet knows best!
Delighted to see raicilla get more notice on the RUclipss! 👍
Thanks man! Might do Sotol next.
Wait, you're in Oregon, right? See if you can get ahold of Clear Creek's Eau de Vie of Douglas Fir.
No really, I'm dead serious. 😁
I’ve tried that it’s pretty wild. It’s available I think.
Really like the walk down the unbeaten path. I’ll keep an eye out for these.
Yeah they are pretty gooooood!!!
I am originally from Puerto Vallarta region and the mountains near El Tuito Jalisco are known to produce Raicilla but I see one of the bottles is from the other side of Jalisco near Mazamitla I did not know they also make raicilla in that part of Jalisco
Yeah I’m no expert but I believe they make it in various parts of the state. Thanks for sharing!
wow something I have never heard of. gonna have to look to see if I can find any. very interesting. cheers
Might be easier to find mezcal…
Yeah, like Uncle Pete said, you'll have better luck finding Mezcal. You could make a Oaxaca old fashioned on your channel, if you haven't already. That's one of the best OF variations IMO!
I 💚 agave content!
Finally some POSITIVE FEEDBACK!!
I feel like all the lesser known agave spirits are going to take off in the next few years.
For sure. As mezcal gets more popular, people are checking out what else is out there.
darnI've heard of this, but never tried it... Seems pretty darn interesting!
It is! It’s a whole different weird world!
Oooh never heard of Raicilla before! Very interesting and cool how they give you production details on the bottle itself. Great vid Pete!
Thanks Joel! Agave spirits are a whole world to explore! Cheers!
PETE!!! This is very interesting!!! I def need to find this so I can make some stuff with these!!! Great class!! CHEERS!!!
Thanks Tim!
Have you had Sotol yet? I know in Atlanta it's slowing seeping into some liquor stores along with raicilla. It may be an interesting experiment to try them side by side.
I have had Sotol, its delicious! That is a good idea, I don't have any Sotol at the moment, but I was thinking I would do a comparison at some point. Thanks for watching!
2nd!?!?!?------>I guess so...
I beat Tim!
HA!!!! You got me for sure!!
A banner day!
Tim is STILL upset about this
