For satellite rovers a full duplex radio is golden, I use a Yaesu FTM-300 for FM satellite in the car with a 5/8 whip antenna, yes it works. I am still looking to get into linear satelites, I have a FT-817 with is multimode on VHF and UHF. The specs on the TH D75A state SSB reception on VHF and UHF so this may be a solution to use as a downlink receive radio. I'll wait for RUclips reviews. (Hint hint Jason: include VHF/UHF SSB reception when you review this radio)
I'm looking forward to it and hoping to pick one up when it's out. Glad to see APRS, D-STAR and Tri-band. But does anyone think there will be a duolex anytime soon? From anyone?🥺
I can't wait for a handheld this small that can communicate across the board with all the HF signals and not just receive them. Imagine 20, 40 , 80, 160m in the palm of your hand. That would be something. But even without my dreams being fulfilled, she's beauty.
@@HamRadio2 Ah. Well, Don did say he was frazzled. The signage, as you pointed out, said dual receive but what I caught was him saying dual watch at 2:25. Still going to be too rich for my blood. 😆
I meet a Japanes Kenwood employee in Germany when D74 was released. At the time I had a D72. I asked if D74 will do what D72 does. He replied " Yes! That and more." He lied me straight in the face. No sky command and no digipeater. Have not bought a Kenwood since the D74. The battery latch was poor quality on D74. The plastic fractured.Happend on 2 batteries. D72 was high quality and good audio. D74 was way down on those points. If D75 is going to be in my inventory it has be lower priced. Better quality. Lower consumption and better sound. If consumption is high it is just a handheld base stasion. 73 de LA1PHA
@@HamRadio2 Don't want to set unrealistic expectations for myself, but I think I just put it on the wish list! :P I'm a new ham with only 'Fangs so I'm biding my time in the hopes of making a couple of good purchases rather than ending up with several radios with some going unused. A mobile version of this would be great. D-Star on 222 MHz is what I'm after, with APRS. The built-in digipeater is a nice plus.
So the radio will come out sometime, and be some price, and have some features. Thats a lot of useless info. I am glad to see Kenwood gettung back into ham radio, sometime.
all this to talk on 2 meter and 440? why spend 1000 or more on this. just use a baofeng for 35 bucks. and what is the big deal with this duplex? what will that do?
I sold my used D74 about a year ago for a “reasonable price” because I felt like a terrible person trying to scalp it. I kind of regretted it, and all of the sudden I feel great again! Wooooo!
Appreciate you providing this video of the D75A. However, Kenwood themselves need to step up their game and release a DMR radio. Their NX5 series on the commercial side can do it, no reason they can't come up with a ham radio too for DMR.
Need to get one of those spinning pedestals for my HT.
Yes, indeed
I bought one for my gold plated Baofeng UV 5R.
@@dereklea1183 Hahaha
This will definitely be my next big purchase. My prayers were answered

Thanks so much for showing this. Exciting
I envision a matching mobile rig would be so desirable in the next year!
2 meters, 1.25 meters and 70 centimeters all with 50 watts output on every band would be really nice too.
Yes! I certainly hope so.

They got me sold on the usb C charging honestly. Really looking forward to it.
Yep
I'm definitely thinking about buying it when it comes out.
Same
I regret not getting the 74d so glad they bringing it back i have to get one when they are released
I'll be getting one also
the antenna has all ready fallen off of it
Keep up the great videos. I just got my technician license last night with only two wrong.
Great job!

we can always dream :)
I’ll be getting one as well 😊
Excuse my ignorance, but what's the big advantage for full duplex?
Satellite work!
Dual watch, like my Anytone 878, implies it isn't full duplex.
Dual RECEIVE, not dual watch. Those are different, but neither of them mean full duplex.

How do you find a D-Star enabled repeater near your QTH

Anyone head anything on release date yet ????
Should be this Fall some time
@@HamRadio2 thanks for the reply
Is it realistic to expect this in time for Christmas 2023?
I think so

HRO put a note on their page saying it will be available "approximately late 2023". Hmmm... 🧐
Wish it were a third band I could use in Australia, like 6 m
How about introducing a mobile version soon.
Hopefully
The problem is there's not that many d-star repeaters around. Get a Hotspot. The price will be crazy as well.
Can be yours for the low price of $775.
It's an HT, not a mobile
Fire that spokes model. 🤡 Interesting device.
For this price it is So disappointing it is not full duplex.
True
@@HamRadio2 am I a hypocrite for pre-ordering it though? Or like voting it gives me the right to bitch about it...
@@GH0ST369LOL...well I am ordering one too, so....
Wow, finally. It's taken so long for HT manufacturers to implement USB charging. Is this the first one?
Nah, beofeng been doing it for a while now
The new Icom ID-50 also has USB-C charging

Better than them not being at Hamvention at all in 2022
I want bluetooth to hook up my apple airpods. Give me that in a radio and I think it would be fantastic.
I'll bet around $500.00
A bit low there. According to Phil (the bald guy) looking somewhere around $700-$750
@@mrgunner5351 700+? Better off getting a ft5d.

SO maybe the price of a used D74 will drop. I have a feeling this will be as expensive as a lower end HF radio
Yeah I suspect the price jump on the D74 was a scare because they weren't available anymore.

None of the big boys make a dmr radio. All china crap except for Motorola.
