It’s hard when people tell you you have thin hair. I was working and a lady came in and she was asking questions about a product at my work and then she said “ can I tell you something” and I thought it was about the product and then she started saying about my hair and loudly in front of about 20 people. I was so embarrassed. Other women have put me down at my other job and I’ve been hearing about my fine thin hair since I was 15. I’m 33 now and I’m so tired of hearing it, it hurts 😓

I had a horrible mental breakdown today about my thin hair. I was getting ready for the gym and put my hair in a bun and ripped it out over and over for an hour, no exaggeration. I just couldn't get it to look "presentable". I gave up and stayed home. I found these videos because I needed help and encouragement, and I found it. I'm still feeling really defeated, but definitely feel better.

To me women with fine hair and thick hair both radiate beauty but in different ways, and I often find people tend to overlook the genuine beauty of fine hair . For example I’d say finer haired women can give off a very angelic and delicate, doll like aesthetic, especially when they embrace their natural beauty and take care of their hair. - So to anyone reading this I hope it reminds you that; -beauty is subjective -that you should teach yourself to become more open minded in the realm of beauty, - and you should do your best to learn to idolize the features similar to yours so that you can learn to then idolize yourself.
(Sorry my writing is a bit all over the place but I hope you get the message!!)
Also I really enjoyed your video! Your hair looks lovely, the kind of side bangs you’ve got going on frame your face nicely.
-You look so much like Blake Lively! I was wondering if anyone has told you that before? Xxx

I am really struggling to grow it past my shoulders as I get the urge to cut it every time I go at the hairdresser, trying to reset it, even if it s really healthy atm. I would love to see a video talking about your haircare routine and fav products (as I imagine it gets greasy pretty quick), also addressing the issue of "to wash or not to wash daily".

Thank you for this video! I have long straight fine hair that is between thin/medium density. My whole life ive been told that having fine flat hair isnt beautiful and volume is a MUST, and you are supposed to cut off your hair to get volume. Ive always hated that so much because I love having long hair. VOLUME ISNT THE END ALL BE ALL PPL. FLAT HAIR IS ACTUALLY BEAUTIFUL TOO. Fine hair is naturally soft and sleek and if you take good care of it, its shiny and it makes you look like lord of the rings elvish princess. There are so many people trying to get soft sleek shiny hair and we have it naturally! Embrace it ladies

I have recently subscribed to your channel (We were chatting about HC last week) and have been enjoying watching your previous content.
OMG! This really resonated with me and my struggle with fine, thin hair. I thought I was the only one!! Everything you describe, always carrying a brush around with me because it looks straggly so quickly, washing it every day, hating the way it looks, it all really resonates! I ruined it with constant washing and straightening, so dry and frizzy. I also wasted so much time and money on the miracle supplements, shampoos, even the Dyson Air wrap thinking it would magically give me amazing, voluminous hair 🤦🏼‍♀️
I found ‘The Blowout Professor’’s RUclips and his advise has honestly been game changing. I’m finally starting to accept my locks and even have good hair days.
So lovely to know I’m not the only one! Thank you ❤
Keep up the good work x

Thank you so much for this video! It means so much to people with thin hair. You know what I realized lately? When I look at someone like you, I do notice that your hair is fine, but I don't see it as something negative. You're very pretty to me, and so are other women with fine hair. But as soon as it comes to me, I find my fine hair so ugly and it somehow totall weighs down all the features that I actually like about myself, because my hair is all i see. So I wonder why I'm so hard on myself and so judgy, and when it comes to other women, I don't even care how thick their hair is, it doesn't make sense! We should be as gentle to ourselves as we are to anyone else. If we aren't our biggest fan, then who is going to be?! It's so hard though! All I can say is for you: Girl you really dont need to worry! You're beautiful inside and out, not despite your hair, WITH your hair!!

    • @AmandaWeldon
      @AmandaWeldon  3 года назад +2

Aw Miley thank you for such a thoughtful and vulnerable comment. I completely echo these statements of only seeing something as a negative on myself. We're so tough on ourselves and things I'll say in my head I would never say to a friend. Maybe that's the change we need to make. I've been working on saying more positive affirmations to myself in the mirror about my hair and honestly it's helped so, so much. Thanks for your kindness it really brought a smile to my face ♥️🥺🙋🏼‍♀️

PLEASE make more videos about how you blow dry your hair; what do you do with it to sleep on a silk pillowcase?; if you want curls, how much time are you willing to spend on getting any curl? Last weekend with my new Dyson hair styler I spent 15-17 HOURS on RUclips before I found you, my ‘twin’. None of the Dyson tutorials apply to me, and I knew they never would. But please show a desperate gal how you got your hair to look as well as you do in this video. OK? Even though this video is 2 years old i hope to hear from you. This is the 3-4th time I’ve watched these 2 video. You have my heart…I’m willing to do anything for beautiful hair.

I always had fine hair but lots of it and it’s red. I never felt pretty growing up but always got compliments on my red hair. I began to really identify with it because of this. I felt like my hair is what made me pretty. Now I am 49 and it’s been thinning out the last few years and it’s very discouraging and depressing. I thought about getting extensions but I don’t really like fake things and I don’t want to damage the hair I do have. I take viviscal hair supplements and use quality hair products to take the best care of it. It’s hard to age for a woman. It gets more difficult and takes way more time and effort to look our best but we all deserve to feel beautiful! We need to not focus on negativity and do our best to love ourselves at every stage of our lives. Thanks for these inspiring videos. It’s so good to see women inspiring women instead of being competitive or putting each other down like I see so much of on IG it’s sad. We are all beautiful in our own unique way!! 💕

My hair has always been thick and beautiful, until recently... I now have thin/fine hair. There are some days where the look of my hair is extremely hard to deal with. I don't like looking at myself, purely for the dislike of my hair now. My hair was once my protector, it made me feel safe and secure. Now, it does the opposite. Each time you showed your hair gathered up together I cried a little. Your hair is exactly like mine. It's beyond comforting to see someone else in the same boat as I am. Not to just hear about it, but to actually see it - and you are beautiful. I have felt so gross as of late, but it's time to accept the changes in my hair as my new reality. I have to make the choice to love me exactly as I am and put my attention on what I do feel good about, instead of the parts I have no control over. I needed to hear your words far more than I would have guessed. I initially skipped the feel good talking part of the video because I watched for the tips, but I decided to go ahead and watch from the beginning and I'm so glad I did. Thank you and God bless. ❤️

I am 71 and have struggled with my fine thin hair...very blonde as a child. Didn’t have much hair until I was 3 or 4. I have gone through so much with my hair over the long decades. I still color my hair at my favorite salon. I wish I could grow my hair a little longer but I am growing out some layers. My hair looks great when I style my hair in the morning but by noon it is a flop especially in the summer my hair looks terrible because I love to work in the yard. If I need to go to the store I feel I need to curl my hair be before I go out. I also have had bangs since I was a child and have never been able to grow them out. I hate them because they separate unless I brush my hair or run a comb through my hair. Thanks for your video...so many of us out there.see my pic with my young kitty...no makeup. Glad I don’t go to work anymore. Ugh...my Mom had the same hair, Dad was bald, both grandmothers on both sides have the same fine hair...I guess I am glad I have hair at all..lol.

    - a silk pillow
    - a silk scrunchie
    - microfiber towel
    - always air drying the hair
    - only shampoos with natural ingredients for sure
    - oil treatments for the scalp

Do you have long face layers and side bangs? Also what hairbrush do you recommend? I have been using boars bristles for years and it seems to be the best.

Hi love! So I typically wash my hair in the morning. Even now with extensions I find my natural hair just performs better after that first lovely hair wash day and then get's progressively flatter lol (we know the struggle of that). I then plan different hair styles from that day forward that kind of suit that hair wash cycle. I go back and forth with shampoo but my favourite lately has been the Redken acidic bonding concentrate (you can find it on Amazon, Chatters and some more places!) I try to ask for really long layers when I have just my natural hair and or none. I use the wet brush or a wide toothed comb and then I have similar to you I have a brush with the boars bristles! My Mom has used those for years so I've followed suit! And a big round brush to create some volume at the root 🥰 Gosh put a quarter in me and I will go forever haha Hope that helps! xo

I am always looking for ways to treat my hair, style it and also play with makeup. I had a hairstylist say loudly to another client that I had the finest, thinnest hair he’d ever seen. That was embarrassing. A friend’s mother said something similar to me once. It seems it’s my identity to other people. When I comb my hair, I pretend it is delicate silk. I start at the bottom and comb very carefully, with my other hand holding the section firmly from above between two fingers and moving upwards as I comb. That way, I won’t stretch the hairs along their full length, which can break them. My intention is to not break a single hair. We have to face the fact that fine hair is weaker, and treat it with care.

Yes, my thin hair really gets me down. Going through the menopause, it's even worse now because of hair loss. I also have age spots on my face, so I feel so self conscious. It's so hard to do a different style, because it's so thin, if I straighten my hair it'll look okish that day, but next day it will be like a rat's tail. The other problem is my hair texture has changed with age, the ends of my hair are so puffy, no matter how much product I put in it. I have to put leave in conditioner in the ends of my hair, a couple of times a day. I have had people tell my on my face how different I look now,and not in a good way.I wouldn't dream of hurting someone in that way. Thanks for your video. It helps to read the comments and realise that I'm not alone.

I too have what is considered to be fine or thin hair but guess what...I don't care! It was my insecurity in the past, but I got over it as I got older and possibly more secure in myself. My advice for feeling confident while having one of the most common physical traits observed is to stop fixating on looks. The most charming and all-around successful women I know are not conventionally beautiful, and some of them have thin hair.

As you can see from my profile picture I have incredibly baby fine thin hair!!! I have always hated it becuase I have always wanted long hair but my hair breaks so easily becuase it's so fine and so I always have a head full of split ends and my hair won't grow past a certain length !!! I get so jealous of women with thick beautiful long hair!!!! And the other thing that is so incredibly frustrating is that I don't do anything to my hair for it to be breaking !!!! I don't dye it ...I don't blow dry it!!!I get frequent trims ...and I don't wash my hair everyday but it doesn't matter what I do my hair is always full of split ends and from doing research I guess it just from simply brushing my hair!!!! Since my hair is so baby fine it breaks when I brush it and so I'm thinking well what am I supose to do???not brush my hair???? But I found a brush that is specifically made for fine thin hair and it seems to be helping a little bit but my hair still breaks when I brush it...I also get frustrated when I see videos of women saying their hair is too fine and thin and there hair is not even close to being as baby fine and thin as mine!!!! So basically if you don't have my type of hair you will never understand the frustration so I love watching channels like yours with other women that have the same problem because you understand how upsetting and frustrating it is to have this hair type!!! Thankyou for all your hair hacks for thin fine hair!!!!

My hair is exactly, and I mean exactly like yours…the fineness, the thinness…to the degree where our hair line, and part, and even the little spot on top of your hairline are identical!!! (I think we are genetically related somewhere along the lines, lol). Ps..I can’t get mine as long…my hair is just coming out of over processing now, but I don’t have the face shape to handle longer hair…so, I’m probably going to do a Bob again…so bored with it but will try and keep it healthy at least, and not expect too much. I do occasionally get it up in a clip but it’s a bit hard because my hair is shorter…I try.
But, thank you for the encouragement. I appreciate it.

Your hair is thicker than mine . I have spent so much money on hair products it is ridiculous. The best tools I have used are the Voloom iron and the Sam Villa texturizing iron. Better than any styling products. I would love to get extension for fine hair (like great lengths) but I just can’t pay $2000 for it to last 4-5 months.

I know this will be hard to believe, but getting grey hair has been kind of a godsend for me. Because my hair has always been so fine, it really benefited from the texture that came with grey hair. I feel like it not only provided texture, but also additional thickness. Now just to clarify; I do color my hair. I'm not about having grey hair, as I feel it ages people. But I have always colored my hair, but never felt the thickness I feel now. Don't get me wrong, my hair is still thin, but I think it looks better now. So, I'm just saying this to provide some inspiration to those who getting a little older.

Mely this made my day! Welcome to this little nook of the internet! I haven't found products that necessarily make my hair thicker but rather I've found some awesome products and have learned how to better care for what I have if that makes sense. All of that has helped me embrace my natural hair when I don't have my extensions in. It then takes less of an emotional toll either way which is great! I would even suggest reading through some of the comments because there are some great recommendations from women just like us who have tried different things. One huge thing that I know affects everything we see on the outside is what we eat. I'm working towards eating cleaner and drinking tons of water which I think just helps everything! xo

my hair goes limp the day after i wash it. if i have time to blow dry it with some thickening serum from my salon it looks really full (it's sort of long which is the first time in my life it's gotten past my shoulders) and voluminous but the DAY AFTER it splits all over my scalp, bald looking spots everywhere. AND my hair parts down the back. it looks atrocious. i LOVE my claw clip but even then the hair on top i have to position just so so i don't have bald looking streaks all over. ugh! it's been like this my whole life, it's purely genetic, and have gotten made fun of for it since i was little. i did ballet growing up and my tiny bun was hilarious to everyone :( in high school girls would poke my head and be shocked at how little hair there was. it was really embarrassing.

I had very similar hair texture as Amanda's, but mine was terribly damaged as well. The very BEST tip I can give you is to go no poo, and only wash twice a week at most, whenever possible! Honestly, my hair has transformed tremendously. Night and day difference! My hair is still on the finer side, but it has become thicker, healthier, stronger, softer, manageable, and I have natural volume... and I rarely ever blow dry my hair. It's a must try!

    • @AmandaWeldon

I sometimes think I should just shave them off, but then I have school. People will make fun of me, bully me, so I can't do anything. I found Jesus and it really helped with feeling better about my hair. This body is just a temporary vessel and Jesus knows every hair on my head and he loves me and he made me and knew me before the foundation of the earth. I also shaved my head during my low point before I got saved and now it’s been two years and it’s shoulder length now and I feel so good about it.
