- Quick video to show you what happens when a DEF Doser goes bad and starts leaking. Most of the time, I get a code for SCR Efficiency cause instead of spraying, its leaking so it doesn't reduce NOX. Let me know what you think or If you have any questions.
Also the white powder on the stacks... Cummins has a update on their ECM programming to fix that. So it could of been actually that causing too much def waste.
If that doser was leaking at all you should be checking the decomposition pipe because 9 out of 10 times that pipe is rock solid with def. I use a snake cam to look around in there. Normally ends up with me taking that pipe off and throwing it in a slop sink with the hottest water I can get and brake down that hardened def. if you just replace or clean the doser and re install that def is only going to spray onto the build up and a little def will get through. SCR N0x codes will follow
He cought it before the massive buildup.
John White hey men how you having a problem with my 2011 t800 kw Computor said my scr is heather bad or klagg I recently removed the pipe from close to the def dosing value and I notice fuel in the bottom of the pipe on the peace that the valve connect to please what’s your advice on that should be running fuel like that or do you think I have a bad value love to hear back please thanks
Dunbar Davis if you have fuel in your exhaust system it’s most likely a bad injector stuck open and dumping fuel into your after treatment system. If you get that injector fixed I would clear the codes and run a regen. Most likely your DPF filters are soaked with fuel. Be very careful when you do a regen and watch that exhaust cause it will go on fire with too much diesel. I know diesel is not flammable but the temperature on the exhaust rises so hot 1 it will melt your filters, 2 you will have a fire.
John White thanks John so basically I need to replace the def injector dosing valve is that correct just making sure thanks
Thank you thank you thank you excellent video I wish you had an Amazon link because I just bought the hose clamps, before I bought them I came back here to see if I missed a link and you don't have one you should you make good content in you deserve to make a little more money 🤑 🤠👍
How often would you recommend replacing the def dozer? Every 6 months ,once a year, every 2 years?
Thank you driver. My truck 2014, Pet 384, Paccar MX13, Mileage 460000. I try to remove bolts, and 1 bolt was cut, so I did not touching another bolts. I still driving, not a problem. In future I will replace whole pipe, and seals, and clamps.
Another great video my friend as all ways
Mack Anthem is a DEF nightmare!
So about how often does these last?? Are we talking yearly or ever couple years
Can this prevent truck from reaching needed regen temps?
Great job on the video👍🏻
I change the dose and it stop for a while and starts doing the same thing again
Same here.
I just want to mention that it is recomended by cummins to do a quantity test. Why? They could be something wrong in the system making def doser valve not to spray properly like heather lines or quality of def .. what trucker dont know is that def expire too and buying a gas stayion is not recomended, the clear container and the sun will damage the fluid
I had a mechanic do a quantity test on mine, he said the doser valve sprayed 100ml of def during the test and that it was within spec. Does that sound right?
I have a freightliner Cascadia 2017 and it seems like The def build up around the washer melts and goes underneath the one box and causes and blue’ish smoke. I replaced the washer and it is still leaking and building up crystallized def, any idea what’s going on?
FYI I changed mine still does the same thing full of def even with the new gasket
It happen the same to my 2016 peterbilt 579 I change the doser but the problem still there.what else can I do thnks.
Did you find out?
Would it be the same on a ram with a Cummins. I had the same issue with my ram 3500 def codes white smoke, excessive def use, with shit comming out the exhaust. Dealer said it needed a pump wich was $1900 plus labor. Picked it up same issues. They said defective part. My buddy that’s a cdjr tech said def dosers plugs go bad and can bus gets all sorts of weird readings. Had to believe my pump was bad
Mines in shop right now for using to much def. They say it's the def injector which I just replaced. Haven't got trk back yet. Did u get yours fixed???
Can u just take ur doser off and clean it and if so what to clean it with
I used a wire brush and put it back together my check engine light went out..I know now to keep it cleaned
Warm water helps dissolve the crystallization too.
Brake parts cleaner.
Hey!!
I have volvo with cummins isx 15
I got code spn 0 5394 fmi 4 on dash. Comes check eng light and def level low light at the same time. I replaced the doser harness connector. And after 1k miles its again same code. What you think its doser prob any other prob??
Hello sir, I’m getting CEL SPN3226 FMI20. Cummins ISX15. I changed the outlet NOX sensor and removed decomp tube. Tube was squeaky clean. Ran truck for 1 week and code came back. Could the doser be crystallized and cause that code or should I look elsewhere? Thank you in advance.
Also, can I email you? I will compensate you for you time.
Same problem on my truck, I replaced the NOX sensor but the code still there . Did you change the doser injector and fix the problem ?
@@marvinmeza7672where you able to get rid of the code ? Same thing I replace Nox sensor code came back on
I got the same code and replace the nox sensor. Did you end up fixing the problem ?
@@Lunchmoney06 I wish could help. I sold my trucking company 3 years ago and cannot really remember what I did to fix it. That particular truck was pure junk and I sold it after I cleared the code. Good luck with it.
I have a 2020 freightliner doing that, has a DD15 . It has a little different looking setup that the cummins, any suggestions would be helpful.
What's the code for the Doser?
Should always do a regen after dozer replacement
Yes. I found that if you do forced regens once a month, you will have less problems with the after treatment.
I cleaned mine but I guess u do need to replace them after a while.....check engine light came on...
I’m thinking those line might leak now
Only have to use a steamer and clean ‘em.
Hi love ur video I have cummins isx15 In kenworth t680 the truck is doing Regions every day while I drive and I am getting a code that is 641 can u help me out figure this out
You need to change DEF pump Low pressure that’s why it leaking
Did you replace the def pump..or waited until you got a code ?
Mine has def but says it's empty amd stop truck
What type of clamp did you use to clamp the coolant hoses? What are they called?
Hose Pinchers
Why is two lines of coolant going to scr ? I have my truck leaking from those 2 lines.
Nestor Cortez supply and return. If the coolant cannot flow back to heat exchanger then it cannot have the heat removed or supply heat whatever the circuit is designed for.
Thanks for the response.. I took truck to dealer for recalls and they replaced the scr and since then started leaking coolant and def. I disconnected all 3 lines since truck is deleted.
@@nestorcortez1474 you haven't had any problems since you last removed the emissions system?? How many miles have you ran the motor since??? And which way did you delete the system???
sticK&Clutch my truck has been running deleted for almost 100,000 miles with no problems, it has now 360,000
sticK&Clutch. I deleted EGR, DPF and DEF without everything looking stock.
Hu, how much does a Def injector costs?
I think somewhere around $300 at dealer
I'm getting def under the truck when off...looks like I'm off to peterbilt.
The " three holes are the fastenerers
There is only one spray port. The three holes are the fasteners you just removed. LOL. The port looks normal. Check the ohm resistance should be 11 - 13.
Do trucks have two doser's...One that sprays fuel and one that sprays def fluid?
Jorge Fuentes yes, exactly. On pre def engines, 2007-2010 it was just a fuel doser. Then from 2011 till now, theres fuel and def dosers.
Michael Novak it should. Has to get hot somehow
Jorge Fuentes carbohydro injector or seven injector it spays fuel diesl and def doser valve
Are we officially calling it deaf now?
Stuped is DEF.
Yeah guy are you deaf or what
@@osmrclc.2757 *stupid… 😂🤣😂🤣😂
If a truck keeps on getting buildup on the doser... Any ideas why? One doser a month is to much.
I noticed the truck doses when on high idle(1000rpm).
Side question.. if the EGR cooler fails.. will it kill the SCR?
TurboFlush its always gonna have a little on it cause of the flow and the way it sprays or whatever. But i think theres almost no way a doser goes out every month. Only replace if ur getting a check engine or the pipes are white.
And yes eventually a egr cooler can take it out, but its gotta leak pretty bad and for a long time i think. Ive only had it ruin dpf, not scr luckily
Quality of def or problem with the heater lines
I know this may seem excessive
but why did you not at least remove and inspect the decomp reactor?
M Whitelaw because the guy just complained of it using more fluid for about a week, it didnt have time to flash a CEL for efficiency. So it did not have time to make a def fluid mountain inside the reactor.
Where do you live bruh????? I need you to look at my truck dammit why can't I find a mechanic like you near me
sticK&Clutch im in CA. Lol they only make us in limited supply... JK, im sure theres guys that can check ur truck out for u around ur area
Were you located at
Hey brother are you in Northern California?
Hi
It’s funny how you just throw money at replacing parts. You didn’t even run the tests through the engine manufacturer software and show how to do the reset. This part is Not just plug and play but it needs to be reset in the software.
