I agree, this racquet is an absolute gem. I play with the v7 version which has slightly more plow through but not much. I feel this racquet plays better without much lead. I agree with you, this is a racquet that is a gateway to more controlled racquets from your typical tweener racquets. When you want to start incorporating some control in your racquet but are not yet ready for a 98 racquet or one with a dense string pattern, this is your ticket.
This pattern is actually very dense. I compared it to the 98, the ezone 98 and the speed pro and its practically the same in the 8-10 centre mains
By far the best racquet I’ve ever played with. Just love it. I put solinco hyper g in mine at 50lbs and excellent control. Next time I’d string it a bit higher at 53 to give it a bit more control.
I agree, it needs a bit of controlled strings because it can be quite powerful. I moved away from hyper-g and am trying confidential @ 53lbs and it works great. I can swing out and am pretty confident I'll get my balls in.
Big fan of the blade 100 v8 over here. Nice to see a proper tennisnerd review!
This Video Hit Hard. After watching this I bought and testet this Racket. The longer I Play with it the better it gets. Power, control, Spin, stability, forgivingness, comfort, fun, cosmetics and lot of feel. The Whole Package. Thank you for this Great recommandation
what string and tension do you use?
I have the v7 version of this racquet and I totally agree. This is an in between racquet between your standard tweeners and more control oriented racquets like a radical pro. It does most things really well. For me, I don't add weight to it for matches. For hitting it's fine, but it is a pretty hefty weight for a 3 hours match. The only downside of this racquet is that for one handed backhands it's not super maneuverable. This is why I play with no lead tape and even remove the dampener and overgrip.
Sounds like maybe you would benefit from the lighter version and then add some lead. In my opinion lead is a game changer. Cheers
Myself and Jonas have single handed backhands and neither of us struggle with the manoeuvrability!
@@Seenbymo8219 I tried the light version, but that frame is much stiffer and loses that plush feel
@@rakeshshrestha5099 I think for just hitting it's perfect, in a match, at least for me, I get caught on the 1hbh
To me the only and real downside was the very limited topspin potential. Just not the same feel when trying to brush the ball. I'm more of a defensive/counter puncher and I woudn't feel confident using the blade in a match... a heart breaker for me considering how good the blade is in every other aspects.
Finally a proper review on the v8 100! Thank you!! Just demo-ed the Speed MP and loved it, seems like the only real difference is the beam width? Did you notice any other differences, overall?
Playability wise, the blade felt more stable than the speed MP to me ( I played with an older edition, the graphene touch) but the speed offered more topspin potential. Didn't like the overall feel of the speed as much as the blade"s.
This racquet is very good and I agree with it being balanced. A few people have reviews about this and their major qualm is about the “lack” of power. And I think you do sacrifice power with this racquet but it provides a lot of control it is ideal for a feel player
I think it lacks power when you come from a racquet like a pure drive. If you're coming from a 98 stick, than it probably is more powerful.
Plenty of power if you have the right technique. Measurable difference in spin generation, much easier to use at the net, better for kicks serves than the 98 by a good margin. Both are great racquets, but if you can't generate your own power they won't help you. And if you miss the sweet spot they won't help you at all.
Huge power potential in my opinion. and I come from a Pure drive. To me the major qualm is the below-average topspin potential. I'd love to have a more flat stroke just so I could use the blade 100...
The Blade 100 has been my racket of choice for about a year now, I string it pretty loose (~45lbs) with a full bed of poly and it's been brilliant for my game. Before I was using the Clash 100 and struggling to control the ball, not an issue anymore with the Blade 100! 🎾
what is ur level?
@@agradina I'm a 4.5 NTRP 🎾
@@roddickfan90 sou are happy with it?
@@agradina my level or the racket?! 😂 I'm still using the Blade 100 with a low-ish tension poly and I'm still very happy with it 👍🏻
@@roddickfan90 Have you ever had the chance to use the Clash 98 V2 and compare it to the Blade 100? I also used the Clash 100 and changed to the Clash 98 V2 because of control and have been enjoying it very much for more than a year. That said, I have always been curious if the Blade 100 would be nicer as I liked the Blade 98 for a few games, but felt it way too demanding for my strength and level.
Awesome to see a fellow tennis nerd on the court with you!
I really like the Blade 100. For me it is a lot better than the 98.
I just bought 2 Blade 100 V9 as the V8 frames are mostly gone by now. I demo-ed the Yonex Percept 100, Yonex Vcore 100, Vcore 98, Ezone 98 and Head Speed MP L and the Blade 100 V9 was the best fit for me. It is very soft and comfortable and the 100 head provides a touch more power, spin and forgiveness than 98 inch frames. I am mid-sixties year old 4.0 USTA player on the way down from 4.5 level when younger. BTW, the Head Speed MP L might make a good junior frame as it is 10.5 ounces strung with SW around 313 strung. I was looking at it as a platform for customization and it was my second choice behind the Blade 100 V9. If you increased the SW to around 320-325 and balance to 4HL, I think the Speed MP L could be a really good frame. It would still only weigh around 11 ounces and the RA rating was in the low 60s so it is plenty soft.
@Jonas, such a coincidence you and Henrik just discussed this stick and it’s currently his stock of choice! I was interested to here what you were going to think about it and glad u liked as much and Henrik and myself do 😎 Thanks again for the hit! Keep up the great work 👊🏼 #fellowtennisnerd
hi tennisnerd, I can't get along with the blade at all, especially not with my one-handed backhand, for whatever reason. Would you say that I should try the 100?
As u can see in the video both myself and Jonas have one handed backhands and we don’t struggle with it!
Can it make sense, to add weight at 12 o’clock to balance the racquet, and once that is done, at 3 and 9 to enlargen sweetspot? I am playing with a Wilson Blade 98 and feel like the racquet head is a little too long, and not wide enough.
Thank you for any responses :)
Test it with the Grapplesnake Tour M8 1,25mm or MSV Swift 1,25mm. About 3gr lead at 3 and 9 and 3 gr in the grip. Plays great.
Hey Jonas,
You mentioned you had VCore95 with you for that session, how would you compare these two frames?
As you mentioned , little bit of power, control, manuverability, stability, decent sweet spot, all these sound like characteristics of the VC95 too.
I am using the VC95 currently and I am interestrd in the blade 100 :)
Thanks!
Wilson Blade V8 104 is also a great racket. Lead it up to your comfort zone and it just rips. Lots of power and lost of spin at light weight and low swingweight. You can rip through the ball with lots od racket head speed and feel and feedback is exceptional. Vera arm friendly and big sweetspot.
I've also seen a player hitting with the 102 racquet and holy cow, he was absolutely ripping it
Is it stable n plow through
I tried this racket and it's very very similar to the Vcore pro 100 from 2019 (emerald green). VCP100 is a criminally underrated frame. Same balance (33cm), similar thickness (21mm), 65 RA stiffness, with a leather grip it's there.
I liked the vcp 100 but found the serve underwhelming, which is a deal breaker since I rely on free points from my lefty kick serve. How does it serve in comparison?
@@jorgetirado3201 different strokes for different folks. For me the VCP100 with leather grip serves great, with other more powerful rackets I can't serve that well. Perhaps for you the blade would be better. You have to try them.
Agreed. If I didn't use the Blade 100, I'd be using the VCP 100. Very similar rackets for me 👍🏻
I found the vcore pro 2019 more precise and the blade 100 a little bit more easy (forgiving). Good to have them both in the bag for a match. 😊
@@Le-Chuck Totally agree with you, was precisely my feeling about those 2 racquets
I was looking to move away from my pure drive and thanks to this vid, it looked like an attractive candidate. Tried it for only three hours in total. Addictive feel.
HOWEVER, the only deal breaker for me with the Blade 100 was its below average topspin potential. It's butter-vanilla smooth when hit flat, but not nearly as good when brushing the ball, and turned out a bit erratic when attempting so. Considering the design ( the throat especially, the Y shaped part),I guess it's no surprise. During a free hitting session, the blade 100 felt gorgeous, but in a match rally, I would naturaly brush the ball more often than I'll hit flat.
I'm considering the T fight 300 that performed well but didn't feel as nice. Plus it's a 98, so I'm a bit concerned about repetitive off center shots..
Can't make up my mind...😩
It took a while but I finally found a Blade 100 v7. Added weight at 12, 3, and 9. Stung it with a hybrid setup of Luxilon gut in the mains and 4G in the crosse (@52 and 53 lbs). Looking for the strings to settle in at about 46 lbs. With a dampener, over grip, and added weight the racquet comes in at 326 grams. Great racquet, great control…point and shoot, but I with it had a little more power. I’ll look at the Shift 300 once Wilson makes the official release later this year. But for now, the Blade 100 is my favorite racquet.
Very interesting... TW has never shown Blade 100. I own 100L which I've customized, and before I purchased it, did not see a Blade 100 offering???? I'm in US.
How do you like the 100L?
@@ROSEMARY-gl7wx it felt great after I customized it with weight at 3, 9 and 12, plus overgrip. More of a control frame, ok power, ok spin. I did end up selling it and currently use a customized Speed S.
I thought the Blade 100 and PS 100 were neglected. I tried to get with Head Speeds and the Gravity MP. Even the Yonex 100’s, but these two Wilson 100’s are strong, reliable no frills sticks for people moving away from 98” player frames, an easy transition.
How does this 100 v8 compare against the six one 100 v13?
Played this one against a Gravity tour. I agree that on paper its got perfect specs, but the stringbed gave too much lift to the ball for me (which you might be referring to as erratic?) . I ended up picking the tour, currently strung with MSV Co Focus 1,18 to get good spin response. Experimenting with 2-3g of lead at 12 at the moment as it really adds a lot of stability while maintaining spin and decent twist weight (more polarized).
Auxetic or previous version Gravity?
@@Mewborne89 the 2021 model
Finally you rewiers starts to find out the magic of this model. It it the perfect mix of everthing, played with it for over 6 month now and love it.
Would be nice to find out your thoughts against the Pure Aero 100 Jonas?
Jonas, Have you ( or henrik) hit with the Blade 100 v9? iyo: Is it better than the V8 version? TW has some V8 100, but I will wait for the V9 if there are advantages. Best, John
What is your current favourite racquet to bring to the court? Great video.
Yes 100sq control racquets work well. I'm still using 360+ Speed Pro. Very "reliable" and good for my development
Thanks for this review. I’m currently deciding between the 98 and the 100 v8 (through your TW affiliate link). I consider us having similar playing style and level, so I’m curious.. Which one do you prefer? Compared to the 98, what are the pros and cons?
Is this worth checking out for a Clash user? I have been using the v1 clash pro for a couple years due to injuries/comfort but I'd like a little more control
this is exactly your racquet then
I have the V6, for me it's great in the hand.
What do you think of the feeling of 100" with this blade for the one handed backhand?
How does this compare to the Pure Strike 100? Very curious!!
I was wondering about that too. Any thoughts, someone?
If you had to choose between the Blade and the new Vcore, what would you choose? I have a v5 Blade, not sure whether to upgrade or switch.
@Tennisnerd how Blade100v8 vs Gravity MP 2023 ?
On the same note does the blade pro or regular 18x20, are they good doubles racquets or should I look for something more powerful
what is the real stifness of this racquet?
how do you compare the Blade 100 to the Shift (300g) in Power and Spin?
I am new to tennis. May I know if you were a beginner / intermediate level, will you choose this one or yonex ezone 100?
Yonex Ezone 100 👍🏻
Hibim currently playing with the wilson pro staff 100 v13, But im thinking of buying this Blade 100 v8.
But not sure if its worthbit and looking for abit more experts advise? Thanx
What do you think of it compared to the Blade 98??
Great review! curious about how does it compare to six one 100 v13 or v14?
six one v13 you have to work much harder for depth
Anyone tried the new Pro Staff X and the new Six-One 100? How would they compare to that 100 Blade? They are more heavy so might not need to add weight…
Hemdrik, how much lead you add al 3 and 9 ?
How does it compare to 23 gravity pro....feel and control etc
Curious as well
I use the old babolat pure drive (2017 version) i am thinking about switching raquets. Which would be better the blade or the new pure drive?
I can relate as I've been using exactly the PD (same version) for more than 2 years now. I've tried the blade 100 V8. Go for it IF :
-You're willing to give up a bit of free power and forgiveness.
- you have a more flatter stroke. It won't reward you as much if you rely a lot on topspin.
Would you recommend this frame for doubles, or is the head too difficult to maneuver fast
To me it's pretty easy to maneuver, compared to a pure drive for ex.
are these muted/dampened then?
Not sold in USA or Canada?
TW has the stiffness at 60
Not really a wilson enthusiast but after plyaing It for a couple of hours i was seriously considering to shift to this
I'd go with the balde if it was more head light and Wilson had better quality control.
yes, this is my only gripe with this racquet, good for singles, not great for dubs
Does this one feel solid upon contact like a pro staff six one ? i was impressed with how buttery the pro staff fell at contact, I need that feeling for my next racket
Yes, it felt quite solid to me
@@Tennisnerd will demo the racket next week - so far the six one pro staff has been amazing
@matrevel9938 how did you find this 100 v8 against the six one 100?
@@paulskl the blade doesnt have the buttery feel of the pro staff and i think is lighter so it feels more manoeuvrable, it has great feel - i actually ended up buying the v8 because overall I was playing better with it, my serve is great with the V8 compared to the six one, go figure why...
This is the best racket I've seen you play with... In some frames you seem STAM... Believe me .. i'm 2.3 ( Fit) ..
Dear Mr T Nerd, does this or Prince Twistpower X100 tour have more control?, love the content 😜
This one has more control, thanks!
Compared to a Pure Drive, how is it compare? I am kinda trying to transition from PD to a more flexible racquet but at the same I don't want to lose all the power. Should i consider the Yonex Ezone for that, or this Wilson Blade or Pro Staff X can satisfy me in that regard?
If anyone can give me some feedback it would be appreciated :)
This is slightly less powerful than the Pure drive, but you'll get a little more control. I think you'll like it. Ezone 100s I think are just as powerful as pure drives and basically just as stiff
3g of lead under the hoop, 4g of lead at 3&9 and 8g of weight in the handle and this thing is god tier
Is it better than blade 98?
Does it have better control and spin than the ezone 100 (2022)? Doubt it tbh.
Blade 100 has better control for sure. Spin is a little bit under the ezone but still enough for me. I feel more confident with the blade.
How does this wilson blade 100 compare to the babolat pure aero 100 raffa ?
they're just opposite :) the pure aero line is geared toward a whyppy stroke and topspin generation. The blade begs for a linear, flat stroke.
Hi, it would be really interesting a comparison between this raquet and head speed mp and pro, i'm actually looking for a new raquet so if you can give me a quick comparison I'd be really greatful.
Haven't tried the Pro. Compared to the speed MP (I played with an older version, the graphene touch, haven't tried the latest), I'd say the blade has better feel ( but that can be subjective). It also felt more stable to me than the speed mp, while the head offered better spin potential. But the two clearly fall into the same category.
What would you say if you compare it with pure drive 100 2021?
I play with an 2017 (or 18 ?) Pure Drive. 2 handed BH.
Pure drive : forgiveness, easy power, pretty high launch angle, consistent, versatile, muted feel, poor feedback.
Blade 100 : less forgiving ( it has a well defined but still generous sweet spot), excellent feel and feedback. Less free power but great power potential. A tiny bit lower launch angle, I'd say medium-high. Super stable. Superior on slices and volleys. Maybe a bit better directional control but not sure. It s geared toward flat strokes, so not great top spin potential though.
Blade 98 or blade 100? V8
Anyone have an idea on what the target swingweight spec is?
how about this vs wilson shift?
Is this good for a beginner player?
Good if you bit more athletic beginner
really the blade 98 18x20 is the racket for high level players - wish i wouldve switched to it years ago
Switched to the 100?
@@theroadie08 no the 18x20 - it is much more powerful than the reviews would lead you to believe and the ball doesnt sail when you hit flat
@@justinhaught I use the 18x20 and struggle with the lack of maneuverability. Thought this 100 might be a little more agile.
@@theroadie08 or maybe the pro staff 6.1 100 it is more headlight
@@justinhaught Thank you. Both look like good options. My third choice might be the Head Extreme MP.
Held it in a store and the throat is way too wide for my left hand.
How about the paintjob? For example in Wilson Clash is quite shitty quality of the paint.
The version 7 chips like crazy but that was the matte finish
Is it similar to cx400 tour?
I'm very curious about this comparison as well. I've been very close to pulling the trigger on that Dunlop, but don't have the opportunity to demo the CX 400 tour where I live. Do you own that racquet?
how does this compare to the speed MP 22?
Easier to swing, a bit less stable
Hello would you say this compares to Babolat Pure Strike 100?
blades and pure strikes play very similar, the only difference is feel which is really personal. I really like babolat, but the blade is hands down better, at least for me.
@@marcodibiagi4934 more dampened and flexible feel on the blades right? Similar power?
I actually found the PS100 to be more muted and disconnected
a few years ago it came down to the pure strike 98 and the blade 98 for me, and I find the maneuverability better on the blade, but the pure strike is more powerful. This 100 Blade might be the perfect compromise.
blade 100 vs speed mp vs ezone 100
Wilson blades don’t need dampeners
How come?
@@domshhh they just dont the technology they put on the news ones dont. I was using dampners since i was 8 but now im 25 i changed to the new blades at 23 and the racket feels better without the dampener so much better and i dont use dampener anymore and im glad a whole different racket experience
I can’t play with any racket without a dampener due to the string bed noise!
@@Official.tadiwa I agree. The newer Blade just feel so muted that I have to remove the dampaner to actually connected to the racquet
Btw, strung at around 19kg.
The most impressive about it...
The haircut! 😅
Haha, thanks?
