I've always felt that the movie undersells the brother in the blue parka. He climbed mountains to fight a bear with a flint spear to avenge his brothers. Not everyone would or could do that.
_What are you trying to say, my dude??_ 🤔🤔 Movie doesn't undersells Tenahi at all.. He starts the movie & ends it, telling the whole story (he's the narrator). The movie really makes him justice after all - _showing us he got over all the traumatic events he went through & managed to find his way back to his right path, honoring his own totem._ The Tenahi you're trying to praise for "going that far for his brothers" is *made* to be unappreciated... rightfully. He's sick, acting for pure obsession, cruelty & revenge purposes towards innocent animals he blames (unfairly, bc he knows well Kenai put himself in a life or death situation with that bear by choice. Tenahi had no rights to go after the animal), he was at his lowest, acting AND thinking very wrongly in general. He didn't grief his brothers in a healthy way & became a cruel aggressor with no limits (climbing mountains and all, as you said). He's supposed to be feared during the movie just like we're supposed to fear/help/worry about people acting like this in real life. "Not everyone would or could do what Tenahi did" Yeah, that's the part we should be relief. You see, that's why this is a children's movie, children can easily understand how his acts were absolutely wrong, disliking him until his turning point in the end. Some adults however - not surprisingly - try to make his egoistic actions "reasonable" just because he seemed to be doing it for his brothers(?) - he wasn't. The movie shows us he was doing it for himself, angry, to absolve himself from his own pain/guilt, there are several moments in the movie he even doubts his actions, not knowing what he's doing anymore. He was in a very deep pain & the way the movie develops Tenahi (from his neutral, to his lowest, to his redemption & fulfilled future) is actually brilliant. 🫡👏🏼
apologise for the edit!!! RUclips keeps blocking it !!!
My brother passed in 2002. This movie came out a year later. It has a special place in my heart.💜
I’m sorry I had the same experience. Much love ❤️🙏 to you.

@lacthocia Nice essay. I didn't read it past the second sentence, but I'm glad you had enough thoughts on my comment to fill multiple paragraphs.
