    Thanks for sharing! I wonder, would an old clothes dryer work in place of a cement mixer? I replaced my old dryer last year when the heating element died. It was old anyway so I was glad for the upgrade, but the rest of the machine still works fine. It wouldn't pour nicely like the cement mixer, though.

    I get a crumble made up designed for goats with rumensin. Then I add barley to make it a complete feed and mix in a concrete mixer with molasses.
    Like to hear your thoughts on feeding goats silage.

    • @LinessaFarms
      @LinessaFarms  Год назад +3

      We like silage and sheep/goats can do well on it. The trick is to not lay any more out than they can eat in one feeding. There are lots of problems which can occur once the air has a chance to start working on the micro biome of the silage. This can set you up for some serious issues such as listeria. We have seen this happen a lot.

    • @dawsonrichter215
      @dawsonrichter215 Год назад +1

      @Linessa Farms, LLC so bagged silage, preferably small bags would do great then? I found a silage bagger that makes 50-60lbs bags of silage. Basically the size of garbage bags

    • @LinessaFarms
      @LinessaFarms  Год назад +1

      @@dawsonrichter215 I would think so. Less chance for spoilage.

    What are some alternatives to molasses? Coconut oil maybe?

    • @LinessaFarms
      @LinessaFarms  11 месяцев назад

      Any heavy oil will work. Soybean oil is a good option. Coconut oil can have a laxative effect in high quantities so be cautious.

    Is that unsulfured molasses or regular what’s the difference or benefits?

    • @LinessaFarms
      @LinessaFarms  7 месяцев назад +2

      Yes. Good question.
      Unsulphured molasses is typically preferred over sulphured molasses for animal feed mixes because sulphur dioxide, used in the sulphuring process, can have negative effects on animal health and performance. Sulphur dioxide can bind with certain amino acids, reducing their availability to animals, and it can also have adverse effects on rumen microbial activity in ruminant animals.
      Overall, using unsulphured molasses in animal feed mixes is relatively common due to its nutritional benefits and positive impact on feed palatability and digestibility.

    Would mixing the supplements with the molasses beforehand work?

    • @LinessaFarms
      @LinessaFarms  Год назад

      This would depend on your definition of “work”. If your sole purpose is to make the best, most evenly distributed mix possible, then no.

    Is it good practice to thoroughly mix 50 lbs of textured sheep and lamb feed with 1/4 lb Deccox powder. Then add quantity of vegetable oil?

    • @LinessaFarms
      @LinessaFarms  Год назад

      Mix your oil in first or molasses to make the feed sticky, then add your powder. By making the feed sticky, it will help to more evenly distribute the powder. 👍🏻

    would mixing loose minerals into the mix be okay

    • @LinessaFarms
      @LinessaFarms  Год назад

      That’s a tough question to answer. It would depend on the mineral. It would also depend on if the feed is evenly distributed. You might end up with one animal eating a lot more than another and that makes it difficult to determine if they are getting enough or too much. We personally keep the loose mineral in its own container near their water.

    The measurement of each ingredients could be helpful 👍

    • @LinessaFarms
      @LinessaFarms  5 месяцев назад +1

      The measurement would depend on what protein amount you would like in your feed. You can do a search for “linessa farms protein calculation” and I have a video that will show you how to get your measurements! Hope this helps.

    What size is your mixer

    • @LinessaFarms
      @LinessaFarms  11 месяцев назад

      The mixer in this video is a 3-1/2 cubic foot mixer. We would not advise going any smaller than this. We have since upgraded to a 4 cubic foot mixer.

    When mixing the rumensin for 50lbs do u weigh out 4 grams like u would deccox.

    • @LinessaFarms
      @LinessaFarms  Год назад

      The Rumensin we sell on Linessa Farms / Foundation Feed is designed to be applied at a rate of 10 pounds per ton. This would be 4oz per 50 pounds of feed or 1/4 pound per 50 pounds of feed. 👍🏻

    Roasted soybeans look way better than soybean mill like I use no one around me sells it.

    • @LinessaFarms
      @LinessaFarms  Год назад

      You would want to leave the meal out and add it when I added the cracked corn. Otherwise, you’re going to get clumps. 🫤
      A lot of people try to mix everything at once and what happens is the powders clump up with the molasses and wet ingredients and you end up with clump balls and it’s a mess.
