We kids in GB would fiddle with the radio knobs in the 1930s. We couldn’t get enough of this
I wish these records were easier to find here in the states. I have had to import them all from the UK or Germany. I love the sound of these bands in the 1930s. Thanks for watching Brian!
Well I can't get enough of them now in 2020 down here in Wellington, New Zealand. Many thanks again to Bob for allowing us to enjoy this music. Music from the age of style and elegance I must say.
Great sounds from a pre-war Germany that did not last long. Note the influence of tango that overlapped into two-step so easily. Also the ballad tradition so strong in German music. Who can forget "Auf Wiedersehen"? Or "Falling In Love Again"?
Music that simply wasn't possible to find before now, thanks to people like you, interested enough to do the searching and foraging. Thank you again for your hard work and keep it coming!
I enjoyed these selections immensely! German music is wonderful! Thanks Bob!
Glad you liked this post Neil. I plan to do some more like it.
Well it's 5pm on a late spring of Sunday afternoon and I am listening in my living room here in Wellington, New Zealand and I cannot get enough of this music in 2022 let alone listening back in the 1930's. 🎻🎼
As always. You provide the best music from this era, 20s and 30s. I can listen to this everyday ! 😎
Thank you Old School for the compliment and for listening, lots more to come. 🙂
Your taste is matchless. Congratulations again for your thoughtful choice of great songs.
Thank you for the nice compliment Jose and so very glad you liked this post.
So schön! Thank you PAX41!
Welcome and glad you liked it. Thank you for watching the channel Camille!

Your channel is one of the best of youtube....... for a 28 y/o brazilian guy, in a country where few people like this kind of music, a guy who loves the glorious past of the 1930's and 1940's, your channel is a miracle... a dream come true...
Since 2014 you make me so happy with this songs ♡ God bless you
I C thank you for watching the channel and I think it is great that you like this music. I was drawn to it in the 1990's and about your age then. You should listen to our other channel KPAX41 Music Of The 1930s & 1940s. I post mostly late 30's and 1940's music there.
@@pax41 :) thanks, the other channel is new for me
They certainly had wonderful music during the Weimar period and these are all excellent examples!
More to come Ed.
Stumbled upon this channel after I went looking for songs from the Mädchen in Uniform films and became curious as to what the music of Weimar Berlin or Germany might've been like.
Thank you for taking me on that trip with your selections!
Love the German renditions of great favorites.
Glad you like them Larry.
This is lovely, the weimar republic must've been just the most wonderful of wonderful times and places.it's sure to have been.LOYALTY!!!
I will be posting some more of these soon, glad you liked them.
Not, really. At least during its beginning, and the hyperinflation. Though the twenties were pretty ok I think.
If you were rich af than yeah but for the lower class it must of been a nightmare to just survive during the depression
Just listening again on a dreary cold NZ winter night to music from the place of my birth - what a great selection - thank you - you are sadly missed!
Thank you Janette and I will post every so often. The job I started early this year takes up so much of my time, plus the garden outside. Also, not sure you knew this but Fred L. passed away last January. I believe Fred may have sent you some CD's in the past. I only found out in July about his passing since it took his wife awhile to get my contact information. I am planning on doing a tribute post to Fred. About half of what I posted on the channel came from Fred's collection. I have 15 years worth of cd's he sent me and barely posted a fraction on it. Hope all is well with you Janette.
@@pax41 Yes, Fred was a good friend and i knew immediately - a tribute post for Fred would be very much appreciated - kind regards, Janette.
Recently my grandpa was sad and so to cheer him up I played him some of the music from your channel and a smile came upon his face!
Thank you so much for doing what you do!!! Keep the music coming!!!
Always good to tune in and have you share with us these beautiful songs. Thanks Bob. Nice tunes to listen to while cleaning those records.
You will have to let me know how your record hunt is coming along Gary and what you found. Just posted a new one for you to enjoy.
Great Bob! Iove this repertoire! Einfach Wunderbar!
Glad to hear from you Servio and it's good to know you enjoyed this post. 🙂
Just FYI, if you are having trouble seeing any videos on YT but can hear sound, try using a different internet browser. I found that microsoft edge allows me to see and hear the video. This goes for any video on YT.
Hi Bob, Thank you once again, truly wonderful melodies. 🎻🎼
This gives a deeper understanding of the times ,the dim light of Cabaret comes to mind, these were real people
Louise Brooks. The pinnacle of 20’s beauty.
What a nice surprise! Thank you Bob! Great music.
Glad you enjoyed this post Craig. You are always very welcome and I thank you for all of your help/support.
Juhuuu, Bob,....
Also dachte ich, hörst in Bob's Musik rein.

Hi, Bob, welche Platten genau meinst Du?
Name u.s.w.
Danke
Bob, your taste is exquisite when you choose the best works of the best German orchestras. Oskar Joost is one of my favorites and “In Eine Kleine Stadt” is awesome!
Alvaro I wish these records were easier to find here in the states. Are they hard to find in Europe? The cost seems quite high compared to US sellers. I like Joost and a number of others from Germany. Glad you enjoyed this post. 😊
Thanks, Jeanette and Larry!
Very alike Tango!!
Wunderbar! My German cousins will love this.
Glad to hear it Larry and more to come soon.
@@pax41 thank you from Switzerland
@@pax41 do you know what's the exact name of this music style?
Hello Sandro, another viewer from Switzerland is Henri and he comments all the time. He may have some more suggestions. However, I would think this German music could be classified various ways like Salon Music, Dance Band Music, Tango Music. Glad you like the music and more to come.
aaah, Louise Brooks 😊

Glad you liked the music and the cover photo. Did you use to go by a different name on here?
Nice selections..........Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it Don and great to hear from you.
I'm delighted that, this time, you offer us what probably is your very first all German selection on your channel. And I have to say this set is brilliant! As Rich West indicates (see below), Germany was heavily influenced by the more Central European Tango and Ballad traditions. However, since these wonderful sides prove in an eloquent way, this led to a unique and lovely blend of Anglo-Saxon and Continental styles.
I think your observations are spot on Patrick. I find the third selection most interesting with it's tango/jazz infusion , reminds me of Kurt Weill. The last portion of that selection is what I love the best. The Borschel selection appeals to me by how he presents the vocals. He builds it from subtle to the climax (crescendo).
So true Bob; for your information: the Erich Börschel side "Sie hieß Marietta" (Telefunken Musikus, issue M 6173, mx 20866), was recorded in 1935.
I love Weimar music
Planning on doing another post either on this channel or the KPAX41 channel. Glad you enjoyed it!
Very good channel!
Glad you like it and thank you for watching Lucas.
Seems like old times, ( and it is) nice.
Glad you liked it Gunther and thank you for watching the channel!
Wunderbarish, where did you find it? Wish those times could have last through the 40's instead of the war. An era now gone forever.
These are from my collection that have been purchased over the years from various sources. Glad you like them and thank you for watching the channel.
love it
Glad you liked it and thank you for watching the channel! 🙂
Bob, it seems that we all are very pleased with the variety you present in your sets! I was actually kind of surprised (though i shouldn't have been) to see an all-German orch. program. Just last year, I bought a couple of Die Goldene Sieben CD's, which I've found very enjoyable -- so, we think alike! Lovely stuff here, with standouts for me being Regentropfen , Wenn der Mond einen Hofhat, Hallo Babette (nice ensemble trombones!) and Beim Ersten Kuss.
I had not heard of him, but I'm checking out a few of the sides from that collection right now: he's great! Thanks for the tip, Henri -- I'm putting that disc in my cart!
I just discovered that he was on one of Hawk's European dates, in '36, which I have in my collection. I should have known that! Have not listened to that period in the Bean discography in a while.
Ah ... thanks! ... Hubert Rostaing -- yes, indeed!
I am so bad Elizabeth but I forgot to respond to your comment. The Die Goldene Sieben group is a wonderful outfit. I wish I had some of the original 78s but they are quite expensive. I will be uploading more of these real soon. I have to buy 90% of these records direct from the UK or Germany. I have found very few of them here which is really sad. Glad you liked this post!
Elizabeth have you heard this one? I like it a lot ruclips.net/video/EpQKyf6MEQc/видео.html
Thanks for the music! It would help to have time indexes in the description linked to each track.
