honestly steam just really needs to implement and force devs to allow downpatching, some games feature downpatching via beta versions of a game but it's far from common for devs to do that. If online is a problem then you can authenticate patch versions to only allow latest patch clients into servers, or whatever patch version the server runs, like you have with terraria or minecraft (and probably others)

Agreed. PC players should be able to opt out of updates that cater to console players. It annoys me to no end that Bethesda does that.

What mids do you have for darkness and flashlight?

I use Fallout 4 Enhanced Color Correction / Pip-Boy Flashlight (Lamp Overhaul)
The Lamp Overhaul lets you choose a specific texture for the flashlight so it only illuminates within the texture vs normal pipboy light which lights up in a general area.

1:41 uhhhhhhh just select not to update unless launched THROUGH STEAM, and launch through MO2 with F4SE????? Like its almost a well known thing to avoid breaking mods

Not necessarily enough as Steam often doesn't remember those settings when Steam itself updates...though there are 3 appmanifest files in the game directory that you can set to read-only that prevents updates.

@@IcedCoffeeGaming Yeah, all the hoops and loops with setting steam to offline aren't necessary, plus there is now also mods that flag FO4 as up to date for Steam

Pretty sure there isn't much difference between console and PC. Which is why PC got the update as well. And console does have mod support. Not as open as PC is but it does exist. Skyrim has the same thing going on except for the Switch version. What I will agree with is updating without breaking everything but honestly the creation engine is so messed up as an engine there probably isn't any other way.
I have been enjoying it on PS5 although I really don't see much of a difference compared to PS4. But that's ok I wanted a vanilla experience even though the unofficial patch is extremely helpful.
