Also, Cassandra...It's recently come to my attention that the majority of Korean products that are popular in the international space are not really that popular in Korea (an example is the Isntree Watery Sun Gel). I was reading a post by a Korean consumer discussing the same who said that they won't consider a product like the Isntree Watery Sun Gel as an example of what represents the widely prevalent skincare in Korea as it isn't that popular over there. I find it interesting how there's actually a wide gap between the K-Beauty products which are popular in Korea and those overseas and how they're marketed differently because they're targeted towards different audiences (the international and the domestic).
I'd really appreciate it if you could look into this and share some thoughts of your own (if you wanted to). ❤️

Isntree as a brand is still decently well known in korea, though i must admit their sun gel isnt as widely loved as it is overseas. Scinic's organic sunscreen is actually THE underdog organic sunscreen that is widely adored in south korea.
The dissonance between domestic and international audience isnt anything new. For example the nivea soft cream is supposedly created for south east asians in humid climates. Then there is north face the brand which was almost dying in america but got so popular in south korea for god knows why and the brand was saved.

Suntique "Im Pure" sunblock is my fave! Isn'tree sounds so much like Innisfree . Innisfee is made with organic ingredients grown on Jeju island. It is very good for the price. I really enjoyed the green tea seed set (5 oz cleanser, 80ml. serum, small toner and cream)that lasted for months( great for summertime in California) I know it's from Amore Pacific. loved it so much, but it smells like fresh green tea which some people are not going to like.

Korean gov basically help fund small/mid companies to export/promote products internationally when they started to show popularity of k formulas, techniques etc. So a ton of the brands we know in the west aren't popular products in Korea- competition is fierce a lot of legacy brands/corps rule the market. I'm very much paraphrasing something I read in an article about it a couple years ago. Like my k bff got me a kbeauty gift card for my bday and when she was going through the site I shopped she didn't recognise most of the brands

I can't believe you didn't know the shower trick! I literally feel like my products are not penetrating into my skin or hydrating at all if I don't apply them after taking a warm/hot shower. I also end up having to use way less product because it actually glides across damp skin and doesn't drag at all. It also makes heavy moisturizers feel way less thick/smothering on the face. You could also use like a facial steamer or just warm water for a similar effect if you don't want to/need to shower and want to do your routine. Warm skin + wet skin also increases the penetration of your actives, because your blood vessels are dilated and most skincare actives are water soluble, and solubility becomes easier at higher temperatures.

Of course she was selling me their skin-so-soft oil...but I've carried that tip with me through life and applied it to face and body oils since and it's great.

Also a good idea to have humidifier on the go. HA pulls moisture in to the skin and if the air is dry it starts pulling the moisture from the surface layers of your skin.

The Shower Method is kinda what my mom does when putting on lotions. She hates the feel of a residue that a lot of lotions leave behind on the skin and so what she's been doing is using those lotions when she's done with her shower and then put it on her skin before going out of the shower. (it also helps in using up lotions we've had and been trying to use up for a while), She's been happy with it and her skin feels softer to her due to it.
I've also been kinda doing a similar thing, when it's a shower day for me I take all my skin care into the shower with me and my skin does feel like it's healing a lot of the issues I developed over the years. I haven't done it quite yet with my personal lotions and moistiors because I wanted to see if it worked with my clenser (also I don't want to stay in the bathroom for long periods of time if I'm already taking a shower, I have stuff to do), but I think I may start doing the same thing as my mom with most stuff so all I have to worry about is if I do it during the day, put on sunscreen, or if at night, I can relax and go straight to bed without worrying about needing to put on my lotion as soon as I get out of the shower (because my skin does get tight if I don't put on the moistenizors)
If this works out after a while, I will be seeing if I *need* to add in a Hydrolotic acid because I'm trying to be slow in my changes to figure out what my skin actually needs.

HI! I'm The Debbie😁I also do the same with lotion😆As soon as I dry off in the shower, it's lotion time. I actually put the HA on while in the shower. Then the last thing I dry, is my face and immediately go with toner, serum, moisturizer! No time to waste. Cuz I don't want my body to dry out while doing my face, and don't want my face to dry out before I can lock all that good steam moisture in😆😂🤣

Hi Cassandra, I usually don't comment on videos but I'll make an exception this time. First of all, thank you for making these videos. I also have oily/combination skin despite being in my late 30's and although I don't suffer with acne, my makeup doesn't last very long and I always have to powder my shiny forehead and I used to have a quite few blackheads. I watched your video when you said that you were going to stop using HA and I was really curious about how long it's going to last. I used to use hardly any products on my skin and people always guessed that I am a decade younger. Out of nowhere, last winter, I started to suffer with really dry eyelids, they would literally peel and no matter what moisturizer I put on, it was only getting worse. I also put retinol on them, which I then learnt made it only worse. So I did some research and found the Ordinary HA. I wasn't expecting much for the price as I used to use more expensive moisturizer that failed me, and my eyelids improved tremendously in a day, and completely cured in 4 days. I couldn't believe how good it was, so I thought to have a look at some more ordinary products's reviews, which was when I started to follow your channel. I've been using the ordinary HA ever since and no dry patches ever appeared on my face ever again, not even in winter. Also, it looks like it adds volume to my skin which I love because any fine lines that I used to have a year ago have vanished, although I have naturally quite thick skin on my face which I believe makes it slower to age together with being unbelievably oily. Sorry it's this long, but I've tried most of the ordinary products that you've recommended for oily skin types and my skin has improved in a year a lot, as it's not as oily and I don't get any dryness around my nose and on sides of my face like I used to. I am sure that you've tried this but another thing that I found as revolutionary as HA and the ordinary in general, is to sleep exclusively on silk pillows. I've bought a few and since I was sleeping exclusively on these, my blackeads have reduced significantl, literally vanished. I have microdermbrasion every few weeks and my beautician noticed that there were no blackheads to remove, which made her life much easier. The only thing that has changed in that time were my pillows. The change wasn't instantaneous, it took maybe 2 months to make a real difference, but I can't recommend them enough. My partner also used to have some blackheads on his nose and his has gone as well. Anyways, keep it up please. It's great to get unbiased reviews from someone with a similar skin type. There's far too many RUclipsrs with dry skin and the ones with oily skin are 20 years younger! Thank you

One question (which I’m going to post also) is how applying in/just out of the shower changes a routine. I use a lot of Korean and Japanese products and I start with a toner, then several essences and only then serums, which is where hyaluronic acid would come in (if I used it). So how does your routine ‘go’? I hope you know what I mean. BTW great you have things that really work for you ✌🏼

It's legit cheaper than any retinol cream! Good skincare needn't be expensive! I get the .0.025 and it has been the best thing for all of my skincare woes! Just ask any dermatologist for a script! Well worth it! Love to you💗🦋💗🦋💗🦋

Hi Cassandra, I agree with you on using hyaluronic acid and not skipping it totally. My skin is combo leaning towards dryness prone, but I have taken note that oily sebum without hydration is causing uneven skin tone and acne. After my skin routine of moisture and nourishment, I will still spray hydrating spray to curb sebum output.

Humectants have really helped my skin. A few weeks ago I got distracted while wearing a clay mask and left it on way too long. Hyaluronic acid really helps after a clay mask. Honey as a mask would probably help too. Moral of the story here is don’t leave clay masks on too long.

Those HA products have glycerine, so it could be that the glycerine is doing the heavy lift long term. Since the HA can evaporate easily in the atmosphere whilw glycerin goes deeper.

I was like you at first. I didn't like the hyaluronic acid at first and so it's been sitting around for months. Well recently I have been interested in getting back into skincare and was watching another RUclipsr explain how you are supposed to use it, with water on your face. So I pulled out the hyaluronic acid that I had sitting around and gave it a try again and this time it has been doing wonders for my skin. I've always struggled with the blackish/purple acne scars(I'm a dark skin woman) but that has helped clear them up as well as keep my skin moisturized the entire day and keep acne breakouts to a minimum. I have oily skin as well and it works so good when other products make it worse.

I've been using HA together with thermal water face mist (Avene works best for me) for about 15 years now and I never had flakey skin again ever since. I think the same mechanism was applied to several body lotion products in Japan that we just keep in the shower room and use right at the spot (meaning before getting out of the shower room).

I mean with all the products not to be used at once I watched the am vs pm guidance, but when it comes to exfoliation and dermaplaning and retinoids and clay masks and IPL etc - I am trying to be very mindful of what I do and when I do, but I couldn't really figure out an optimal weekly/bi-weekly schedule on when to do what (considering the Do's and Don'ts related to certain treatments/products. Would it be something you could maybe address in a video - please please please 🙏☺

Hi Cassandra! Question for you for a future video idea possibly? Can you try to compare the fibroblast function and how theyre impacted by a condition with marfanoid habitus or marfanoid or widepread hypermobility/ connectice tissue disease presentation since its usually involving irregularities within the fibroblasts and collagen biosynthesis processes... and how some of the products used for the purpose of activation within that process in "normal" people might affect those who do have disease involving irregularities in collagen synthesis and the extracellular matrix? I know its a bit advanced, but you always explain stuff in ways that i understand and grasp while also not having the science dumbed down too much.

I do apply a hyaluronic serum again in my after shower routine but that's just to get multiple weights and like why not.
