As a kid, I thought the "mad with power" bit was in reference to Cargill obsessing over the "tough/soft" dichotomy.
For Marge’s video tape scene, they apparently had Julie Kavner do that speech several times in a row to tire her voice out and you can definitely hear the results which makes the scene more powerful.

I haven’t seen this movie in years but this video reminded me of how much I loved it
Definitely one of the best things to come out the Simpsons after its golden age was over

Also, the reason it wasn't rated R was because even with the sex jokes and crude humor, the writers were actually aiming for a PG rating. The MPAA felt that an R rating for the 4 second clip of Bart's nudity would be considered too harsh in an otherwise PG film and hurt the chances of success at the box office, so that is why it was rated PG-13 as a fair compromise. In the official TV-PG edit that airs on FX, they added a gag censor bar that reads "European (You're-A-Peein') Version Only" over the infamous moment, which actually made it funnier in my opinion. In the United Kingdom, the film simply edited out the offending moment to secure a PG certificate from the BBFC. It was later released on Disney+ uncut with a mild 12 rating.

The intro sequence actually used to haunt me as a kid. I would have nightmares about itchy and scratchy
They have Lenny calling about the free donuts and them going fast to give Homer a reason to dump the pig silo instead of him deciding he doesn't want to wait in line, as for why he didn't go get the donuts then drop off the pig silo, some pointed out the possibility of him still dumping it but it being accidentally(like he bends down to pick up a dropped donut, he makes a sharp turn then the silo falls off the car, down the hill and into the lake) it works better if he does it deliberately cos then we don't got no reason to side with him.
If ya haven’t seen it I’d highly recommend the first two Balto movies

The movie was the end of the "jerkass" Homer era of the Simpsons. Afterwards that particular character trait was significantly toned down, and now only shows up very rarely.

Honestly in more recent Simpsons Homer is probably the sweetest he's ever been. This movie was during his more "jerk" phase but it works in this movie since Homer is actually punished for what he does. I love this movie, the only thing I don't like is Colin, the whole thing with him and Lisa was pointless.

When I first saw this movie as a kid, I thought the Springfield on _The Simpsons_ was meant to be Springfield, Illinois, since that was the only other Springfield I'd heard of at the time (even though my own state, South Australia, also has a Springfield), so I was like, "Dang, so... Arnold Schwarzenegger was back then and still is the governor of California. And he is a pretty great governor. I guess that is why the made him the president here, like a nod to Ronald Reagan(who I don't like as much), but he was an actor who became president.
