Your love for Eddie is so noticed. He's the reason I picked up a guitar and the way you talk about him made me feel like he was still with us. When you said "Eddie was the man", that hit me hard and made me realize what an amazing talent we lost. Awesome lesson as always Rob 🙏 #RIPEVH
Man! I got to say he was the most expressive player. That solo for out of love again for example ...It's just crazy! All from the top of his head like that? insane! Yeah there's dudes who can play way faster than him but it's not just about playing fast. Man I miss that guy! I even miss his rhythm playing as much as I miss his soloing. Those rhythm parts were so cozy cotton, like warm blanket that you just take out of the dryer and wrap yourself. So warm. So cuddly. Heavenly!
This lick is tough! I have it tight enough for a loud bar, but not tight enough to lay it down on tape. The whole song represents one of the most aggressive Van Halen songs, up there with Hot for Teacher. I've been working it by picking every note, strict alternate
Cool. This lick almost reminds me too of Neal Schon's opening to "The Party's Over". Had that really cool repeating lick that repeated 2 or 3 times rather than moving chromatically like Eddie typically would do. I remember thinking at the time how Van Halenish it sounded.
I just started attempting to play EVH, keep the tips coming! I was gifted tickets for my 16th Bday for the 1984 concert that no other concert matched. RUSH was very close.
When I hear this pattern/lick system, I recall the work of the late great Ollie Halsall, a UK guitarist. I must admit "borrowing" this idea a few years back. Love your tone mate
Fun lesson! I think the lower string palm mute might be partly due to just the picking hand angles at that speed. Plus the thicker low strings can be easier to pick fast when the string is tightened up and vibrating less due to the p.m.
Do that famous 5 Note sequence of his on the b string in b minor with the b stream open. I believe it's around the 10th fret to the 7th fret to the open b and then grabbing the e on the 3rd string 9th fret. It's also in I'm the one and other songs. Thank you
I was trying to get that little riff from your course. Well, not this current one. You have something similar in the course in March. It was just a bit of the lick. Now I got it. 😂
I cant do that so I use both hands , one taping and pulling to make the other hands notes..the speed issue is what makes it pop, and who cares how you get there right"?
Cool vid Robert , RIP EVH !! You a Fan of The Scorpions ? If yes it would be great if you could play and break down a couple Mattias Jabs riffs ? like Make it Real & Don't Believe Her or Rhythm of Love your choices of course . Young Guitarist can learn a lot from his playing style . His great Riffs helped me in the mid 80's and helped me jump from Beginner to Intermediate really fast , then on to "Shred Master General" lol Just having some Metal fun !!
man you play very good and have a good sound. Has anyone very said you look like that 24 drummer in Nirvana Chad Channing? And the Molly Hatchet Guitar Player Dave H in the 1970's and mid 1980's.
Dude, quit showin’ off. I can only subscribe to your channel and hit the Like button once… Snarky joke attempts aside…THANKS for another awesome lesson!
Sorry, dude, but you're playing it wrong. In the little looped part of it, you're returning to the D string for the G and the A. The G should instead be a C on the G string. At least for Show Your Love. (Both fills and solo.)
Close-ups, close-ups! Where are the close-ups of your fingers??. After the intro we don’t need to see your face we want to see your fingers! Thank you!
What a waste of time!... You talk about things "the way Eddie used to think about them"... How would YOU know how HE THOUGHT about things? But the WORST thing you DO is, you PLAY the SECOND "More Complicated" pattern SLOW, but you NEVER PLAY it UP to SPEED!... CAN you play it up to speed?.. Sorry, didn't mean to be too aggressive and I appreciate you passing a long knowledge, but you never let the viewers hear how it sounds played up to speed!
Its always EVH time! :D
Always!!! ❤
It sure is brother
Awesome lesson! Even some of us veteran players forget about these cool tricks!
Thanks for the latest EVH lick lesson!!

Love your vh lessons keep em coming!

same
That’s cool. I’m trying to get it without my guitar. Lol. I just got this recommended and I’m not at home. Thanks for posting 😊
Just picked up the new course!!!! Can't wait to get started. Thx for all you do. Keep up the great work 🎸🤘👍
Hey the frankie new don't remember it being in the arsenal good lesson by the way🙂
Thanks buddy. I got it a few years back it only shows up for EVH content .
Awesome lesson. Thanks. …And still loving the new studio look.
Cool. This lick almost reminds me too of Neal Schon's opening to "The Party's Over". Had that really cool repeating lick that repeated 2 or 3 times rather than moving chromatically like Eddie typically would do. I remember thinking at the time how Van Halenish it sounded.
Just took up my guitar again. And you have inspired me to take your lessons. I'm having FUN again.Thought it was time I paid you back! Thanks Robert!
I just started attempting to play EVH, keep the tips coming! I was gifted tickets for my 16th Bday for the 1984 concert that no other concert matched. RUSH was very close.
Great VH vibe, here. Adding this one to my quiver. Thanks, man!
Thanks Robert just got the course to add to all your others that I have Good stuff
Nice final lick, btw 😎
Love " the sponsor of this video......ME!"....🤘👍

that middle three-in-a-row lick Eddie lifted from Tony Iommi's outro on Fairies Wear Boots. 🎸 🦋 👢
Sounds cool!
Fun lesson! I think the lower string palm mute might be partly due to just the picking hand angles at that speed. Plus the thicker low strings can be easier to pick fast when the string is tightened up and vibrating less due to the p.m.
ROCKED IT!!!!
ROBERT!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🎸⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Love it!
Thanks for another great lesson, Robert.
Quick and easy, jumping right into it!
Great lesson! Thank you!
I DIG it, brother! thank you!
I should very much like a Gary Moore lick lesson of his hard rock/metal Era!
Awesome as usual, great tips as usual. Thanks, Bro
Loved Eddie! Nice Job!
Beautiful licks and great lesson! Thanks, Robert!
I love it and have been looking for this sequencing style for years... Gotta tab man?
Hey man..the 3note course is worth the money..😃👍
love this, been plying it since I saw it in your short
🤘🎸🤘ohh yeah!! Never tried this lick before, by the end of the video I think I almost got it. Need to plug in and try it now. Thank you Robert!!! 😊
I've been trying to pick with a closed hand for speed but muting is so much harder cause not as much of my hand is on the strings.
Thanks for all you do Rob. Your channel always has useful things to learn and your so good at teaching it. 🙂👍
Robert, you are are a guitar teacher, and you are great 🤷♂️
What a groovy lick ! thanks!!!!
I learned the Montrose “Voyager” solo a while back. There are some similarities here…. I love those descending riffs. RIP to both of course.😢
Do that famous 5 Note sequence of his on the b string in b minor with the b stream open. I believe it's around the 10th fret to the 7th fret to the open b and then grabbing the e on the 3rd string 9th fret. It's also in I'm the one and other songs. Thank you
Sounds great, Rob! What are you using for tone here?
I was trying to get that little riff from your course. Well, not this current one. You have something similar in the course in March. It was just a bit of the lick. Now I got it. 😂
Great lesson brother where's the pdf?

Your a great teacher rob love your stuff
Robert, really nice dude. Thanks. Send help though, just cant get out of minor pentatonic blues box. Hehehe.
Very cool. Great playing. Zack Wilde is my favorite. Slash for 80s rock. Do sum Wilde plz, at sum point. Eddie is dope too
Please do an EVH course like your Angus and Billy Gibbons series!
Mr. Baker, How about a Vito Bratta Lick!🎸🎸🙏🙏
Nice tone, which setup are you using?
My favorite as well/ thanks man
Hi Robert, what's your setup for this video?
I cant do that so I use both hands , one taping and pulling to make the other hands notes..the speed issue
is what makes it pop, and who cares how you get there right"?
Every time, is Eddie Van Halen time.
Effects chain?

You’re pretty good. What shampoo do you use?
amp settings?
Using Friedman for the tone?
U da man! Love your channel
My wife and I regret not having at least one brick wall inside our house. They look so good. Anyway, this is a fantastic lesson.
Hears “it’s EVH time”… hits the like button…
Enter this code in any game system and your in God mode.
You’re tuned down a half step.
I noticed this too!!! my guitar was in D# already and fit in with Robert's tuning nicely ;)
EVH rules...FOREVER!
It would be nice if you could play these patterns slower for us just learing...thanks
Was a teenager by the 1980…Van Halen 🤯
Without someone breaking it down, these sounds were from outer space?
Bottomline, F U N stuff
The concept is the same, but the original sequence of notes is slightly different!
Does everyone here know Eddie played a Dragon/Snake guitar? I just recently found it and I thought WTF I didn't know this.
It even sounds cool slow....
Dude, quit showin’ off. I can only subscribe to your channel and hit the Like button once…

Eddie was OK. They are much better guitar players out there.
Close-ups, close-ups! Where are the close-ups of your fingers??. After the intro we don’t need to see your face we want to see your fingers!
Thank you!

Awesome but prefer Randy Rhoads
Clearly, you even stole ozzys name
No one cares
Edward stole so much from Ace Frehley...lol
Still talking about 'Tricks' sad man, very sad.
Hey, you much speak.. Not practice..
I learned nothing here
Cheat codes are supposed to be easy! 😂😉🎸🎛️
