@@AsrielKujo Haha I only learned this for a grading, but it went well :) Learning Soviet jazz from sheet music was pretty awkward because I didn't properly understand the theory behind it back then lol. I started getting really into jazz, hip hop, electronic, neo-soul etc around that time, so I never really thought to revisit more of Kapustin. I just prioritised grinding theory, playing by ear and producing/composing ever since. I approve of the Undertale dp btw.
When people heard early music of Skrjabine, they said it sounds like someone had discoverd unknown Chopin pieces. Now here I'd love to say, this sounds like a miraculous box with unknown Gershwin pieces - after Gershwin had listened to some Skrjabine works.
Amazing piece, I'm learning it for my grade 8 as well. I find 1:01 to 1:04 extremely difficult to perfect, and also 2:12, 2:25-2:30, 3:21-3:24 and 3:35-3:38. This sounds way past grade 8 standards, but you play it amazingly! Great job!
Wow, this Sonata really sounds like from Mozart's or Haydn's era! Reminds me of Beethoven's Sonata No. 20. Especially at 0:28 it really sounds like Mozart!
@TheMusicmaestro15 I didn't find it that hard and I actually thought it was a good piece set for grade 8 :P The only think that was annoying was getting the triplets with the quavers in parts together haha
Very nice, clean playing, esp. for a live performance! I just wish there weren't so many rhythmic "hiccups" -- places where you take a little extra time (particlarly in a rest). I know that's how you're feeling it musically, but for me all it does is throw of the nice groove you've established.
No it is not. It's absence of rhythm, which in jazz is absolutely unacceptable. For example: measure 2: 1/8 is "eaten up" (7/8 instead of 4/4); measure 5 -- one extra 1/8. Etc. Can't you hear it?
Vlad, you are wrong. It IS rubato. Now, is the rubato a good choice? In my opinion, no I think rubato is generally terrible when applied so liberally to jazz. Not to say it should never be used, but not so much.
With much due respect, You have to understand the idiom of this composer. There is even a recording of the composer himself performing. There is rhythmic integrity in his performance that is largely absent in this one. Excessive rubato in this case is simply sloppy, robbing the rhythmic tension written in the score.
What a humble way for Kapustin to celebrate his 100th opus...
@Eason Liang "Sonatina"
Genius, genius, genius, genius! This man astounds me!
This piece is so fun to play but frustrating to learn! I can't wait to finish this :D
How's it going?
(Lmao i really want to know after 9 years what other Kapustin pieces u played)

KAPUSTINNNNN
lol sums up Kapustin’s output. So fun to play and listen to but a huge pain in the ass to learn.
Who else came to listen to this as a tribute for Kapustin’s passing today? 😭
I made a video tribute for him :")
wait what
@@t4ylowvibes Kapustin unfortunately died last july
Hats off gentlemen, a genius!
OK Schuman
amazing 👏👏👏
I wish someday i could play this piece...
Nicely played. Jumpy and energetic!
great job! Sounds like Kapustin is playing.

Wonderful piece thanks for the upload
RIP the great NK.
some classical elements in the left ... nice fusion I like it
AMAZING
Lovely!!!
Absolute DELIGHT

Очень нравится. Спасибо.
The dislikes are from people that raged while trying to play :)
I really like it by the way!
Замечательное исполнение!
awesome
Nice!
this is nice I'm playing it right now its almost relaxing
Quirky fusion of Haydn and Jazz.
@UnquantifiableQuest You forgot Mozart there ;)
It sounds like jazzified Viennese Classcism, but mostly still Kapustin

Quite Gershwin-esque at times

On a scale of 1 to 13 how difficult would this price be ....my teacher gave it to me and said it should be easy , I'm at about amus standard
Good perfome
Kapustin music can be studied in Jazz music Forms and Analysis😘

Why is this an grade 8 exam piece
Wdym
Kaming Lau it’s kapustin’s easiest piece lol
@Eason Liang Why it's Grade 8 and not Grade 1 :P
@Xue Qian Tay the reason it's Grade 8 and not Grade 1 is because it's not that easy

The rythmic hiccups as you call them are written into the music. It stays in tempo the entire way through. The “hiccups” are part of the groove.
@@lightning9494 There are a few extra ones in this performance. I don't mind them personally, but they're definitely there.

Can somebody tell me, is this a one-movement Sonatina?
Yepp.
Ricardo Abapo Jr. Its not even a sonatina basically
@@pianoreliability5780 No, because it follows sonata form. There’s plenty of famous one-movement sonatas and sonatinas.
@Eason Liang Doesn't follow the rules? It's literally a jazzy Haydn sonata.
Random notes go hard
I don't like the little unnecessary pauses in places where they aren't indicated in the score. This robs the piece of a jazz rhythm! Otherwise great!
very very hard!!!!

Minor rhythmic and tempo problems, but a great performance either way!

Why doesn't the player stay on the meter? many bars are basically 5/4 not 4/4. Didn't like this performance.
It's rubato and dramatic pauses.

Way too much. Out of the genre.
