    Note that if you buy a Keylab used, you also get the software. According to Arturia, the license transfers with the sale of the keyboard. When you buy the controller, contact Arturia and give them the serial number of the unit, and they will generate new license codes so you can download Analog Lab. I bought an OG Keylab49 with a defective keybed for $[really really low] and even with buying a replacement keybed from Arturia, given the Analog Lab license I came out ahead.

      Oh woah, that's pretty cool they do that! Thanks for watching :)

      Is this true for all of the software bundled? ie. the Keylab 88 mkii now comes with Analog Lab V, Piano V, Wurli V, & Vox Continental V

    • @mrz80
      @mrz80 Год назад

      @@DuneArchitect I believe so, yes, but you could bounce an email off Arturia support to be sure. Their position is pretty consistently that software licenses sold with hardware are tied to that hardware.

    I got the lab's intro with my keystep 37. Very impressed, and my cross grade deal for the V is $69. Seems like a no-brainer, but I'll watch your video.

    Good to know it comes bundled with Arturia's controllers, a $199 value. The 9 knobs are all the control I need for most sounds, esp. when you've got 7000+ to play with! 😜

    • @FreeBeat
      @FreeBeat  2 года назад

      Yeah, it's a pretty ridiculous value. I had no idea how cool the software really was.

    The Arturia KeyLab Essential keyboard/software combo is one of the best values out there. I too bought the KeyLab keyboard not knowing about Analog Lab 5 being included. It was a very pleasant suprise

    My KeyStep 37 didn't come with this, but it added to my Arturia account a special offer that takes the price down to $70. A Pigments discount too, which looks much more about sound design.

    • @saintmoz
      @saintmoz 2 года назад +1

      While pigments is great for sound design, it does come with some awesome presets. Analog lab is more about vintage sounds, pigments is more for modern sounds, at least that's how they are focused.

    • @FreeBeat
      @FreeBeat  2 года назад +2

      Yeah I don't think it's ever been bundled with the keystep line, but that's still a great discount! I will definitely have to check out pigments someday, once I learn a little more about sound design haha. Thanks for watching :)

    I’ve been waiting to buy the whole collection, but knowing myself and being honest I should probably just buy this one!:) Having access to the full setting of worlds most famous synths would be awesome. But it would probably take my whole life learning all 34!XD

    Thanks for posting. Apparently like you, I am new to the synthesizer world, an I truly appreciate informed comments that "come from" a place that is closer to where I am than most content I find on You Tube. Many thanks!
    But, dude! What's with the hand-held Mike while you are using a keyboard? You really need a microphone arm (Rode has a good one that I use.)
    I studied piano years ago, and am just getting back into music in the electronic age, but it hurts me to watch you keyboarding with one hand tied behind your back, as it were. 😉

    • @FreeBeat
      @FreeBeat  2 года назад

      I filmed this video the day after moving into my new studio, before things were even set up for proper filming haha, hence the lack of mic arm at the time.

      It looks pretty nice, definitely over my head right now though. Sound design is one area where I find myself really struggling, I'm hoping spending some more time with the model d, microfreak, and now this software will help improve my knowledge. Thanks for watching!

      Yeah, mobile software is getting pretty crazy. Although I don't think there's any mobile software out there that's equivalent to something like this, it wouldn't surprise me if we got there in the very near future.

      @@FreeBeat right I agree, the Roli software called noise is pretty crazy and I started learning synthesis on the phone, this book told me to download an app and it was a synth and it was very informative lol the synth had 2 oscillators and ADSR ect it was powerful lol

    Can the arpeggiator be synced to midi tempo from an external device while using this in standalone mode? Please, I must know. I don't want to use a DAW, but I want this keylab/computer combo to serve as a synth library standalone device.

  • @TomGrimmy

    I'm torn between the Arturia Keylab49 and the M Audio Oxygen 49 Pro.. Which would you recommend? I'm more leaning towards this one just for fact that the software bundled with it is amazing value for money

    • @FreeBeat
      @FreeBeat  2 года назад +1

      I'd have to lean towards the Arturia, if just for the software alone.

  • @jefferykalauta4630
    @jefferykalauta4630 Год назад +1

    do the controller knobs sync with the software controls (so you dont't need to use the mouse)

    • @FreeBeat
      @FreeBeat  Год назад

      A lot of stuff maps in Analog Lab V, if you're using an Arturia Keylab or Keylab Essential controller, but not quite everything. I'd say like 80-90% of things can be done on the keyboard itself, which is pretty solid IMO.

    Analog labs is nice, but somehow the UI sucks

    • @FreeBeat
      @FreeBeat  2 года назад +1

      I've mainly been navigating it using the hardware controls on the Keylab, rather than mouse and keyboard, and haven't had any complaints so far. What don't you like?

    • @testowykana1763
      @testowykana1763 2 года назад

      @@FreeBeat Installed it yesterday on my new PC and now it feels better than before. I remember there was some confusing behavior when changing presets - the UI would loose state which preset is set to active, also the main (?) vs studio modes were confusing. Eg. yesterday I couldn't find the way to switch between those modes.
