This was easy to solve (before i brought it to school and someone broke it, i really didn't care because it was a cheap one) and I solved it multiple times just messing around with it/ scrambling it. I think its because you cant twist the edges 90 degrees, only 180, drastically reducing how much it can really be "scrambled".
Some models have those "edge pieces" unpainted, which reduces the difficulty to some degree. Still, it's a fun cube. Not hard as the rubik, but not super-easy either.
@MeMyselfAndPi I have a really nice shortcut for when the edges are flipped. I don't have a gear cube so I pretend my rubik's cube to be one and use the same moves as I would do on a gear cube. So what I notice it that there are always 2 rings/slices/whatever you call it of edges that are flipped. So you have 2 faces where no edges are correct and 4 where 2 edges are flipped and 2 are correct. Turn the cube so that you face the side with no edges correct and do this algorithm: RzRzRzRzRzR
When you showed the move to invert the orientstion of the edge pieces, white was on top. When you were done, white was still (mostly) on top, but the center square was yellow. How do you do it and keep the whole side white?
Just solved it using his video and I had the same problem... However, when you do the turns to make sure the edge pieces match up, the white centre piece returns back
How can a person find those algorithms ? just trying? great mind? computer? math? How many moves has this gear cube ultimate? How difficult is it compared to a classical 3x3x3 rubik?
This cube is small enough that very occasionally you can solve it by accident and remember what you did. Sometimes for the short algorithms logic suffices. Another thing is that if you keep repeating a sequence of moves then you will always get back to where you started, so there is no risk in exploring by continually repeating a move to see what happens. Also, try regular 3 by 3 alg.s if u know them, because some also work for the gear cube. I personally wrote a mathematica program to make algorithms to solve the cube as (look up orbit and stabilizer in group theory, I took their basis). In the process you might realize that some configurations (and which ones) don't show up, allowing you to take shortcuts. I guess it's just all of the above.
I may want to buy this puzzle but When I look for it on mefferts the edge pieces aren't stickered? do the stickers come with the puzzle or do you need to buy them sepperatly?
i dont know which but this is the exteme or ultimate 1 has a layer that can have the upper or lower layer move once without having the middle layer turn a quarter turn
i guess its okay to watch a tutorial now that i've figured one out at a competition. i can even impress the ladies saying: "hey, see this impressive-looking puzzle? i figured it out on my own." not really :'(
my cube has a fixed middle layer, meaning when I rotate an adjacent layer to that middle layer, only that layer rotate without the opposite layer rotating. plus, none of the edge pieces rotate
I got this cube, and managed to solve it. But wanted to see other people's method. This is first video I've found with this specific cube. What is this version of the cube called?

@@BobaVett555 i think it is gear extreme (gear v2)
Thanks! I have this cube, and by doing some research about Gear Cube, it's seems to be different than this one! Also on my cube, the orange color is missing, instead it is purple!
I need help! I have a different gear cube. It has a ring that doesn't move by gears but turns like a 3x3 rubik's cube. The other two rings move by gears, and I need help solving it and the instructions aren't helping. Can you help?
Im viewer number 4796. The year 4796 will be a leap year starting on a Monday, which has 2 Friday the thirteenths, 1 in September and 1 in December. HR 4796 is the name of a star system consisting of two stars orbitng around their common center of mass, approximately 220 light-years away in the constellation of Centaurus, which contains the Alpha Centauri system, a triple star system consisting of a bright binary star to which the much fainter red dwarf Proxima Centauri is gravitationally bound.
Wow, the first time I turned the cube, I tried turning it with one finger like how most speedcubers turn regular cubes, and I got my thumb stuck in a gear. xD
i was wondering if you could do a huge favor for me. i know you are good with puzzles and algorithms so, i was wondering if you could help out a friend of mine. can you come up with a set of algorithms for solving the Edge Only Void Cube? if so, can you reply to this post with them so i can pass them on to my friend?
"Oh and by the way the method I'm about to show you: *I CAME UP WITH IT* "
and?
Weird flex but I feel it
He sounds so confident and proud that he came up with the method Lol.
bro it works....i previously solved was that the edge peices was not aligned...so thanks to this guy.....best method very helpfull
Best Gear Cube video by FAR! Well done!
I dont have a gear cube, and have no plans on getting a gear cube, but the way that he makes his videos made me interested in this video. Great video.
thank you so much for this video, without it I wouldn't be to solve my gear cube 👍

You make it harder to solve than the other videos
I started watching you without being interested in cubing at all... now i am and bought 2 cubes already :D
"Do a full 360 degree turn" *does a 180 degree turn* "now do another 160 degree turn" *does another 180 degree turn*
Koolaid Wannabe ook
my brain hurts just by looking at the thing xd
It's actually really easy
CryptionGaming try the mirror cube it will hurt your eyes
It is the whole point of the thing
That is the coolest looking cube EVER!!!

I put my volume on max and was wondering why I couldn't hear it, but I realized I had it muted. Woops. Good tutorial x]
Thank you very much, but could you maybe tell me where I can buy one because I would love to have one?? The tutorial was great though!!
Alex Westwick go to eBay and type gear cube
Cubicle.us
zcube.hk
thanks for the line "just twist it until it fits" helped me solve it. bye
yes! thank you so much for responding to my request! your the first person that shows a fisher sticker mod tutorial.
Awesome puzzle! Where can I buy one of the copy of it?

That voice break at the start! XD
scrambled to not scrambled illuminati confirmed!!!!!

I love the blooper.
Thank you for this nice and easy method, after some practicing it is really nice to use. 😃
@WoZhenBang
I uploaded it last week & set it up for scheduled publishing.

Good tutorial, I found it fairly easy to follow, although I don't own a gear cube.
That thing looks awsome

Can't believe it was uploaded 11 years ago ✌️

not really :'(

i like how you switch to a solved gear cube when you say solve
Awesome! I finds lots of video but I can't see the gear has the small edges like this. Give you a like before watching this video :))) (y)

@ thank you :)
@@BobaVett555 actually it's just a mefferts gear cube the gear extreme is more difficult than this
can u pls show an exploded view of this cube?..i just want to see corner , edge centre and centre pieces seperately..

i have recently aquired a super square 1 and i have learned how to solve a square 1
canu make a tutorial on mhow to solve a super square 1???
I have a weird parity case with a single edge not oriented correctly when everything else is. Any idea how to fix it?
what is th edifference between a gear cube and a gear cube extreme, im so confused
where did you get this? i cant find one anywhere with the white side like that... i only find purple...
Nice cube, nice turorial, thanks!
Where did you get a fully stickered gear cube?
I'm finding gear cubes that aren't stickered like this one and it just doesn't sit with me.
Awesome cube! :)
My cube is different?? I have a middle section that is unaffected by the gears, any ideas?
Amazing video this helped me understand the gear cube thank you

+Joshua Hunt Same here! I am considering also getting Meffert's Gear Ball, but this cube will drive me insane if it is not solved.
+Mentos Cubing it's the gear cube ultimate that I have and there are tutorials. I found one on redkb's channel and now I can solve it
+Joshua Hunt I don't know about yours, but I actually did a bit of research and mine is a gear cube extreme.
+Mentos Cubing it's practically the same thing with just one extra step and redkb goes over it in his tutorial as well
Lovely.
does it change anything if you sticker the inner edge pieces?
Since out of the box its not stickered.
Are there any cool patterns for the gear cube.
Dude the comment was posted a year ago XD i have like 2 of them now... I was just obsessed with pi's vids a long time ago
Is it like a gear ball because I only have a gear ball
Can you solve it like a 3x3 then re-orientate the edges?
mine dont have the stickers in the middle only on the outsides and center piece like a 3x3
the little bracket shaped stickers are not there
That voice crack at the start... lol
0:57 Youu Aaarrreee SOOOOOO COOOOL , i subbed and I SMASH THAT LIKE BUTTON
where did you buy your gear cube?
where did you buy this cube i cant find it anywere?
can i have the link of where you bought that?
I also did come up with my own method but then realised redkb also came up with that
is that an partner only option if not how do u do it?
Will you please make this video again with notation?????????
No. You can only turn sides 180 degrees. and even then, yes you could solve it for the most part like a 3x3, but the gears would be geared improperly.
what type of gear cube is that?
you bring your computer to the bathroom? how did you type this?
where i can same like this cube plz say me
what is the exact name of this cube plzzzzzzzzz
i have so much intrest in this cube to learn
It's littearly called THE GEAR CUBE! DINGUS :I First we arn't reading the descriptions, NOW WE ARN'T READING THE TITTLES? ._.
i want this cube. where should i buy this one?

Nice, enjoyed this one
more "likes" then the video!! LIKE A BOSS!!
Help I'm trying to solve my gear cube, everything else looks solved but the tiny little edges are different colors...how tf do I solve it?
@jameslam19 its HIS first solveing tutorial in 2 years
What about the near center pieces?
how much did u get it for?
To solve it first you got to know how mechanical shit works to know what shit is OPTIMUS PRIME shitting on spongebob with Hugh Jackman
Why isnt this the new video on the top part with the listing of your videos
For the last step, u can just turn the right side 360 degrees and the centers will match up, that last step was uneccesary
you made this more difficult than it needed to be. there is a MUCH simpler method.
where did you get the stickers like that...? plz let me know
Check for the Tony Fisher inspired stickers on Cubesmith.
Gear ball origin confirmed
@someguywhocanfly I too thought this, but in fact he is saying "Parity".
where can you get one?
what brand of cube is this, it's the only one that seems to have more sticker than plastic
looks like the mefferts one just with stickers from cubesmith
oh cool
Interesting video.

is that a lanlan or a mefferts
When I do the first corner pair a second one does not line up
How do you take it appart
Thank you soooooooooo much for this video i solved my gear cube
does anyone know what this puzzle is called? its geared with 12 diamond shaped faces
gear cube.. in title lol
They're not talking about the gear cube, they're talking about a different puzzle.
oh
Potato ghost cube?
where to get that ??
