Thanks for posting, Mike. I always learn a "shop-trick" or two from your videos. This is going to be a beautiful bike when you're through. Buy yourself some neodymium magnets, attach them to the steering stem as close as you can to the ball bearings and they will stay in place...... (good luck getting the magnets off). Thanks again for posting.

We used-to tap a small-wedge or appropriate-screwdriver into the 'pinch-slot' of the lower triple-tree to open it up slightly, allowing the fork to slide-out more-freely. Same for re-assembly , taking care not to over-distort it or contact the stanchion-tube... Dave

Well that wasn't too bad Mike .. 😂 the guy who has never lost a ball bearing hasn't lived.
There's something satisfying with taking something to bits cleaning it all up, replacing those worn/broken items then putting it back together again. I had my soldering iron out this week

Mike, Always great to watch you with motorcycles. I noticed you stripping that kill switch wire. I recently bought on Amazon a,”Knoweasy” wire stripper. What’s nice about it your not pulling on wire to strip the end. Makes that task much easier and safer to not yank a wire off a connection. The Knoweasy stripper is under $20.00

Got to agree, I think I sighed after hearing the bearings bounce on the floor. Your space is so clean that you probably found them all.
🤣🤣 Hope all is good Doug. Thankfully I have ordered a very nice set of SRM taper bearings, but the ball bearings will show up a year from now and I'll wonder where the heck they came from and then worry about that for a week 🤣🤣

It does seem true the the individual component hardware is very high quality, so she should be very nice when assembled carefully.

All of that just to give the chromed headlamp brackets a proper polish. Haha. Your videos are the highpoint of my Sunday old boy. They've kept me from attending church actually. If I end up in hell, we'll only have you to blame. 🤣🤣🤣

Put some taper-roller bearings in the steering-head...they don't cost much more and transform the bike's handling.

Really enjoy watching your vids. I love seeing old things brought back to almost new. I don't have the tools or the skills you have to fix the old Triumphs so I got myself a used 2008 Triumph Bonneville T100. I did have to get aftermarket pipes to try to capture that good old Triumph sound and feel. Do you still consider me a member of your Club?

Hi Mike. Great video as usual. Just one observation I think you inserted the kill switch crimp the wrong way round in the crimp tool. It'll mean the bare wire part of the crimp is not as tight as it should be as it was crimped using the insulation part of the crimp tool instead of the tighter wire part of the tool. Also I would have doubled up the wire in that larger blue ring crimp as a red ring crimp would have been the right size for that wire. Only saying this so it doesn't cause you any issues in the future. Cheers.
Plus they are not really meant for auto's Those type look just wrong imho

I've found that if I concentrate real hard and thrust my tongue sideways against my cheek, the balls usually don't fall out on the floor.

Doing a really great job. Using that ali angle bar was a neat trick. Did you manage to identify what the cause of the front end misalignment was? Or is that for a future episode?
Hi Martin, I haven't had the chance to look closely yet. The stem seems just fine and straight and the fork legs are a bit knobbly but straight. I'm hoping that it was just the yokes/triple trees that are twisted. Cheers

Red wires are earths on british machines red probably goes to head lamp shell otherwise ground is going through steering bearings. Not a good thing electrically

Mike, as usual your video is great but I think you are a bit confused regarding the igniton advance/retard control..... you called it the auto advance control and if it had an auto advance then you don't control it mate as it's automatic ..... you should have said the manual ignition advance lever......
Oh yes, of course. Thanks for catching that. Yes, I misspoke there. I have the auto-advance units on my other bikes and should have said that this was the manual lever. Cheers, Mike
