Good to know and they are wicked comfortable. Must make your feet hot though? That's the one downside of them imo. But I'm assuming it's because their gore tex so it's a sacrifice to have gore tex
Agreed, my favorite boot so far. The most comfortable boot I’ve tried. I use them for work and encounter different terrain but mostly road and cement. I did add a mid insole just because of my planters fasciitis. And they feel perfect. It gives plenty of support around my ankles which I also need for my tendonitis, so that’s a plus as well. But I do have to say they run narrow. So I had the get a half size bigger. But it was the right decision because these Anacapa’ just cradle my feet so well. My only con is that it’s not slip resistant.
Thanks for the comment! And yes they ate extremely comfortable. I use these mostly for running/trail walking and I've never had a running boot/shoe that has left me with almost zero foot fatigue. I however actually went down a whole size in these. So they would be tight enough to hike in.
Mailman here. Walk 8-12 miles a day the boot is very comfortable. The soles lasted about a month or 2 the sole and the boot is starting to tear a bit after 2.5 months waterproofing kind of gave way after about 2 months. Probably about 3-400 miles on them so far. All in all I’m still wearing them but this is probably a weekend warrior hiking boot I wish I could afford to buy them every 3 months.
Absolutely. That's what I'm concerned about. I don't walk that much I run in these from time to time and do small hikes. They are a comfortable design but seems very expandable over time. Thank you for sharing!
I'm getting these for walking long distances while carrying photo/video gear.. I often find myself walking in rain.. so waterproof is nice.. I'm not taking these into the mountains.. I have merrell Moab 3's which are decent but I'd consider Salomen's for a serious hiking or trail running shoe. These Hoka will serve me well for what I do.. I like Mids because while I don't need tons of it.. a lil extra ankle support is nice. Plus considering it's coming to winter months.. the Gortex will be fine.
My Kahas have the same soles. Monitor the pieces of Vibram. The will start to come unglued a will grab the ground/ rocks and will trip you up!! Unfortunately Hoka would not take them back on warranty!! I had 2 pairs, they took the new pair back.
Hello. Tell me, kind person, does this model have a toe box? (Protective glass in the toes of boots), usually, trekking is installed. They are also positioned as trekking, hiking bots.
Yes they are trail running / hiking boots. I wouldn't consider them hiking boots though. Only for mild applications. And they don't have a toe box. As far as I know anyways
How waterproof are these? And how well do you think they will stand up to work? I currently wear Merrell for work (firefighter/emt) and im just looking for something new. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the comment, and they are super waterproof. They have gore tex fabric.(which I assume is a membrane in the boot) Gore-tex is no joke! I haven't had these underwater for large amounts of time but I've been out when it's pouring rain running and splashing in puddles and my feet were dry
Mine both let water in after a 40 minute walk in the rain. I kept to paths so I wasn’t in long wet grass. Very disappointed. They are very comfortable.
I’m trying to decide between these and the Speedgoat mid gtx. I’m assuming the Speedgoat are a little more runner and these more of a hiker? Any thoughts? Thanks.
I believe you are correct. The speedgoats are a little lighter and have a synthetic upper with gore tex while the anacapas have a nubuck leather/gore tex textile upper. But they are honestly very similar. I have never worn the speedgoats so can't speak on that. The soles are slightly different but phrased the same way. But I don't see too much different!
How are the exposed foam midsole at the bottom of the shoe holding up? I have the same pair and so far it is just slightly squished at the bottom foam areas but don't think it's torn up yet.
holding up okay. I don't take them on wicked rocky or rough stuff or I try not to have som scrapes and scuffs bit overall holding up okay for bare foam. this shoe could have been way better if they just put the hard vibram all over the sole not patched. I understand there reasoning on not doing it but. anyways appreciate the comment!
@@MainelyEverything yup, definitely could agree with covering most if not all bottom area with vibram would feel a lot safer about walking through rougher areas without worrying too much about the foam xD...
Hello thanks for the comment. Do you mean how do they size up in regards to actual size of the shoe? Or size up compared to different shoes? I'm normally a 10 I had to go down in size on these. I got a 9. If you're talking about how well they work. I like them alot. They are a lot different than a ASICS brand trail running shoe or a Nike. But they make your feet hot because they are waterproof.
@@MainelyEverything Yes, I meant are they true to size (If you're a 10 in other brands, will you be a 10 in these etc), or cut larger to accommodate for socks, or much smaller like many hiking shoes and most importantly, are they a narrow or wide fit? Thanks.
@@Ferbeldeyberb I'm normally a 10. I am a 9 in these. only reason is I didn't want my foot to really move at all in these. I tried a 9.5 and my foot was able to slide a tiny bit which I didn't like for downhill hiking/running. and as for width they are pretty standard. so if your a d you'd be a d for width in these to. I don't have really wide feet so these work great.
Yes. May be a bit warm at some points. They have the breeze of this shoe as a more airy and breathable variation but the same functionality. I have a video on those as well!
Oh boy. I'm unsure. Depeneing on how much snow you get into and how hot your feet get. I haven't I have run in the winter many times and been totally fine. I would say so. But keep in mind these aren't too high so if you're getting into a lot of snow they aren't going to be like muck boots haha
I just ruptured my Achilles tendon, I'm researching infos if this hoka's will be good for my recovering foot. Their low cut shoes said to be medically recommended but looks too colorful for me. And I feel I need something wrapping my ankles.
I meant I not they* I'm a 10 in boots and I have a 9 in these due to not wanting my feet to move at all. But I will ask Hoka Directly and see if they respond!
Directly from Hoka "Our Anacapa Mid Gtx fit true to size. However, we recommend checking out our size chart here bit.ly/HOKASizingChart for the most accurate measurement information. Keep in mind that if they are in the contiguous US and purchase the item on our website, we do offer free returns if the item does not fit. We hope this helps!"
Definitely warm on the feet not unbearable after a long run though feet are definitely sweaty. If you pair it with a good wicking sock you'll be fine. They are slightly slightly breathable basically as breathable as goretex is
Not necessarily insulated. However the gore tex lining acts as an insulator imo. My feet have never got cold outside when I'm doing a physical activity. They are waterproof which is a big help. I'd say though if you're going to be going into really cold I'd wear a Merino Wool sock liner and then a wool sock on top. I haven't used these in below zero weather I've used them below freezing and my feet have been hot running haha.
Not overly breathable about as breathable as goretex normally is. They do get pretty warm when running. They aren't like plastic bags over your feet but not like mesh either.
As a UPS driver who walks on average 10 miles a day 5 days a week, these are the most comfortable boots I’ve worn.
Good to know and they are wicked comfortable. Must make your feet hot though? That's the one downside of them imo. But I'm assuming it's because their gore tex so it's a sacrifice to have gore tex
hi how's the durability of your pair, I heard it has some outsole durability issues
ASICS are good
Are these the gore tex ones or just the regular? I’m so torn in whether to spend the extra $100.
I did not buy the GTX ones. I wanted the more airy ones. I hope they are still great for running and walking to work.

How’s sizing??? True to size ??
They have a reccomedation on their site for these. I believe it's 1/2 size down from your brannock but I'd be sure to look first.
