Despite this model being a few years old, it still runs circles around just about everything even close to its price -- I paid US$156 in Dec 2017. Excellent, balanced sound quality. I have replaced the battery once during the time since then -- easy DIY job and an inexpensive one, too. Also -- Very nice video review!
We had a 1st gen Echo in our master bathroom for listening to music in the morning ruclips.net/user/postUgkxABghAEkaIDGZfHRBH3D3rBrlraNmnC71 and while in the shower. I didn't realize how tinny and awful the sound output on the original Echo was until we replaced it with the Studio. It was a sonic upgrade far beyond what I was expecting. Just wow. I love it because it's like having speakers IN the shower. My friend likes it because the music is so loud that she can no longer hear me singing. So that's a win-win.

This is one of the best reviews i ever seen. 3 weeks ago i bought 2 OnyxS4, and they are amazing. The quality is perfect, the sound is clear and somtimes depending of the audio source you feels like you get a external subwoofer too.

Your editing and the unique videography make other channels that are 1000x as big as yours look like a joke. Finally a reviewer that doesn't place making himself seem funny at top priority. I'm tired of clicking on review videos to end up watching a half-assed attempt at a review with the most unfunny dude trying to sound/ look funny and quirky. I brought this speaker 3-4 years ago and it the best Bluetooth speaker I ever heard.and yes I brought the carry case.

Good review. I tested out a used harmon with the aux port and bluetooth, videos on youtube using the galaxy 7 phone. I had no drop outs so it may be certain speakers with defects or the phone. I also tested it on the echo dot and performed the same. I guess i lucked out on a used speaker at half the price. Sounds great. I to wish the covers were removable in case it gets damaged. I am very happy with this speaker. Thanks for the review

I know that I'm 5 years late for this video, lol. Did you ever find out what that music cut out at "30%" that you spoke of at 9:53 of your video? If not, I think I know what that was: if you get notifications while playing music, the music considerably lowers/hesitates. I know you've figured it out if you still have the HKOS4.

@@OCMANMEDIA I received my Onyx Studio 4 and love it!! I did modify it as to where the usb port will charge the internal battery! How cool is that? I also changed the battery from its original ICR22650 Lithium Ion battery (3,000 mAh otherwise known as 3Ah to one of my 12 Ah Lithium Polymer batteries (authentic 12 Ah as well. Not cheap chinese fakes). I also installed a charging system for the battery that charges the battery @ about 2 amps so you can charge and use the speaker at the same time. Now it's even more portable and has better output power on battery power as well due to my batteries having an output current capabilitie that is far superior to the original. I did that modification and I have used the speaker at full volume for over 9 hours and the battery is still not dead. Plus the original battery charging system from the amp board is still able to charge the battery like normal from the 19 volt input.
Anthony Volkman amazing!!! Well I hope Harman will learn from this Mod as their battery system is on the poor side amongst the other brands. Good job man!

I have the Onyx Mini and it syncs well with video using my iPad. That’s weird this one doesn’t.
But maaaan those legs not being detachable is a joke, what the hell were they thinking?!

David Gardell the legs! yeah sometimes Their creative designs come with a downside. You have the Mini? Does it sound good? had my eyes on it before I went for the Onyx Studio. I’m surprised it functions better with video than the Onyx Studio. Anyway thank you very much for your comments greatly appreciated. Still very new to the RUclips, not yet doing it fulltime but I hope to get there.
OCMAN MEDIA Yea, I got sometime last year! The form factor is nice, it’s small and easy to take with you. Tbh I don’t know how its portability compares to other BT speakers in the same price range (whatever that is, they keep going on sale.) The design is nice, it doesn’t have the legs, or anything that protrudes, but if I have to say something I guess it would be when moving it with one hand, while it’s playing, it’s a bit awkward with the passive bass radiator being in the way. Because of its shape not being rectangular and easy to pick up, I would have preferred a tiny two finger handle, like on the Studio. If I’m listening to music in the kitchen and moving to the living room, iPad in one hand... Absolutely not a biggie, but it is something I’ve noticed.
As for sound quality, I’ve mostly been using it for RUclips and movies, never had it with me outside. It is a really great sounding speaker, especially for its size, but perhaps not for things like rock music, it’s more for bass driven music imo and I had to use EQ to boost the mids and highs. I think it pretty much sounds like you described the Studio, but smaller! Placement and room size is a huge factor, since the audio bounces of whatever is behind it and makes it sound bigger.
Now looking at the Studio, because it’s on sale for €130 and I have a €30 gift card, so we’ll see! 🙂

mine has the aux problem too. Too bad as i can’t use it to play games. Latency makes games unplayable, and the way the aux behaves makes it not a solution either

this was a great video. i'm very tempted to get this speaker for its current sale price but what a let down that it can't do something as simple as stay synced with videos? the MSRP price is $450 which is a joke since it appears to have been on sale for $200 and under, but they really let this product be complete with a noticeable LAG in 2018??? really reconsidering this buy :(

Caio Lessa hey I’am already working on a comparison video between the two, hopefully video should be up soon or by next weekend.
In terms of your question it really depends on your sound preference both speakers sound great in their own right, However they sound very different, so if you are looking for deeper resonating rumbling bass and warmer sound then go with the Aura S2, but if you want clarity and detail in your sound (still with very good bass) then go for the Onyx S4.
In terms of multi speaker connectivity the Onyx wins because you can set the speakers as stereo L/R but On the Aura you only get ‘dual sound’ which is basically a duplicate or copy of the other speaker and not stereo. Volume wise they both can go loud enough to fill a small to medium sized room , however the Aura can go even louder with minimal distortion or processing at max volume.
Look out for the sound comparison video as I Put both speakers head to head across various genres of Music to give better impression of performance.

I have the Onyx 3 and it pairs another speaker... But Onyx 4 can connect more...??? Well, I should have waited for this one...lol...
I saw a video showing they connected up to 20 units and I heard it can also be until a hundred units. It that true?
Anyway, I am all happy using my Onyx 3. Just like you said, I (only) use it for my music playing during both my working and minutes before my sleep.
Both high and low sounds are enough for me.

OCMAN MEDIA yeah...in my country it is not easy to find Herman Kardon's product sold in common markets. I had to buy it online. I frankly prefer 'touch and hear' any audio gadgets I intended to buy.
JBLs are easier to find here anyhow...
It's all your fault anyway, I am dreaming of having the Onyx 4...lol...
