I had HK amp,klipsch speakers,pioneer turntable & onkyo reciever...we blasted @ Jumpin Jacks(biker bar in E Syracuse, NY) Now...@ 65 I have several of their BT speakers ...mini onyx studio for work...Studio 3 @ home & gifted 1 to my old boss so he can rock out kitchen at restaurant I used to work at...this 6 looks great...just may have to upgrade

Bit of advice with these: To prevent distortion, the bass is limited somewhere in that upper level of volume, I'm guessing over 75/80%. All this is brought up louder when plugged in. Love my Onyx, mono is a slight bummer, and mids are lacking but using Dolby Atmos HD enhancement (strangely "Movie" comes out fuller) the music is hearty, and full. Vocal-biased songs stand out at high volumes and bass just jumps at you.
$400 in Australia. Best quality speaker I've heard. The only issue is that the bass can be a bit full on when streaming Netflix , RUclips etc. But worth every cent. I just got to get another one for duo mode pairing. How awesome that would sound
Got one now to add on my collection. my old jbl still working fine but because I've been using it at work building factories and free time when building or help building houses for friends, it's dirty AF. There was a big renovation in a big supermarket here where I live and there was some great sales. My sister works also there so I got this for 80€. Amazing deal even thou this is "old" product.
Hello, I just purchased the Harmon Kardon Onyx Studio 6 and I’m having issues connecting it to my Apple TV. It is simply not registering on my found Bluetooth devices, which is odd as I have had my Harmon Kardon Studio 1 connected this way for years. It connects fine to my phone so I know it’s not an issue with the systems Bluetooth. My only thought is that it’s so damn new that there is some compatibility issue with my Apple TV until there might be some sort of update to make it discoverable. Is anyone else with this speaker having this issue? Any help is appreciated.
I have this speaker connected to my Amazon Fire TV stick and have no issues. Maybe you’re right and there might be an update for your Apple TV or an update for the speaker itself. I bought the studio onxy 2 years ago for 400 and the battery is finally wearing out and I want a new one but I can't hear them since Covid 19 and I don't want to buy one without hearing it first because I love the sound. I know the newer ones last longer for playing time. Mine was 5 hour's of playing time fully charged now it last for about an hour. I don't want the longer playing time one if it's not as good of sound quality. It's a tough decision.
Best way for me to describe it: Being a mono speaker it has limitations in the way of projection and all-round sound, but if you just go and play a song, stand back and listen you wouldn't know and barely notice...even forget it. It also has slight limitations in the midrange...My Galaxy S8 has Dolby Atmos sound enhancement, I pick Movie or Music and it brings the normally shallow mids out in this speaker Bass is totally crazy, you most likely wouldn't believe it until you hear it. I believe these break in too, so it just gets better (mine seems to have done too) In the whole scheme of things, it's in my opinion one of the very best bluetooth speakers out there, especially when you factor in sound quality and imaging. The other brands are more popular most likely because H/K were so damn lacking in the practicality department for so long; this Onyx Studio 6 is their first system that I know of to be properly waterproofed). These are a little more niche as I see it, but again totally recommend. I hope this was fairly organised and easy to read 😅
I still listen to the Onyx 1, and use a Onyx 2 in my kitchen. In conjunction with an Amazon Echo Input Device which makes my Onyx 2 into a Smart speaker. This sounds better than a Google or Amazon. Smart speaker.! I have no reason to upgrade. I believe Onyx models 1 thru 4 had feet, and physical bigger than the model 5 and model six.. I am willing to bet this new version has the latest Bluetooth specs. Have you considered using RUclips’s royalty free music library for your sound demo’s. Keep up the great videos.

I LOVED my onyx 1, best BT speaker I ever owned hands down, and I had alot of different brands. Sadly they had an issue with their battery and some only got a few months out of theirs, but after 5 years of bumpin and thumpin, luckily mine gave me more than my moneys worth before it died and wouldn't work without being plugged into the power adapter.

It got left there because it was too much money. I can buy the same one a lot cheaper other places. I only wanted to hear it but none were out to hear. I want one that sounds like the 2 or better.
A 4 shouldn't have been $485, special edition or not, as it's really old in comparison now. The price you quoted is still a higher number for a 6, so I'd stay on the lookout for good deals.

Hi bro, Onyx 6 comparing to 5, the quality of sound is a huge difference. Especially the bass and the treble. The bass sounded more "compact" / "solid" than Onyx 5. It's Insanely loud. Another thing, if you search at online shopping websites, Onyx 6 has it casing / protection cover. If when not using, just keep the whole speaker into the casing and won't get dirty / dusty.
I have the Onyx Studio six that has been the heavyweight champ on base but I recently acquired an Anker Rave Neo that is rated at 50wts (full time), also ipx7 with Bluetooth 5.0. I got to say the Rave Neo for $100, w it's built in soundcore free app on ur smartphone, giving customizable EQ controls (9 band graphic) that stores and remembers your favorite EQ tweaks, freakishly beats the Onyx Studio 6 fair and square at its own game. Don't forget the Onyx Studio 6 is only 30 Watts, unless it's plugged into a wall with its proprietary power source which allows for 50 Watts. Lol, ALSO the Rave Neo has 10,000mah of battery power, versus 3000mah on The Studio 6... Can't wait for somebody to do a comparison on these 2 KILLER, mono powerhouse BT speakers!?!? I love them both, but there's a clear winner now..
It is not stereo. Two connected together do not play in stereo. It plays both left and right channel to both speakers. They call it dual sound not stereo sound. The onyx 4 is the only one supposedly with stereo when connected together. Harman Kardon always set the price around 400 while you can find them on Amazon between 150 and 200. The batteries are weak on these also you need to plug it in to get the 50watts. That is a trick from harman kardon in many of their speakers I have three onyx studio 2s Great sound but the legs break and no water resistance.
@@JustNicholas247 Inside the speaker some disassembly videos showed one woofer, one tweeter and the dual passive radiator in frontal and back position, but isn't a problem with the expansion power of the speaker. You can check other portable speakers like Sony srs xb41, jbl extreme, LG pk7, anker soundcore motion + whose configuration show two drivers but those doesn' t have the feel of the stereo of two well separated bookshelf speakers, so is barely noticeable in those speakers if they use stereo due to the closed distance of the drivers, onyx 6 outperform those with one driver at the exception of the extreme in with were is a closed tie.
How do you mean "more portable", besides maybe shock resistance? Other than that, JBL (I assume you mean Xtreme 2?) wins for stereo sound and rough-and-readiness, with that aforementioned drop resistance. H/K wins for bass depth, overall sound reproduction - if lacking in the mid - utilise any sound enhancement/EQ you might have to rectify this. My Dolby Atmos HD works great on my S8. Overall shape with carry handle is super handy as well. Vocals come out with incredible clarity In the end it's up to you, take advantage of any opportunity you have to listen to both.
@@jetstream454 In full volume is 2h -3h playing. It depends the music too, if is too bassy or not. At volumes about 50% I got it 5h of playing. But in volumes about 20% left I got more than 10 hours playing. (I use during all night sleeping).

That's my issue with the 6. I bought my 2 when it first come out. The black with gold legs. I've not been able to hear a 6 in person and don't want to buy one if the sound is compromised for playing time.
Older series Onyx speakers seem to be muffled in comparison, and out-of-the-box even the 5 & 6 aren't that full in midrange. (5 and 6 share componentry, the 6 adds waterproofing)
people say that you can daisy chain them you cannot daisy chain them you can pair two together but you cannot pair four together not three together only two which really sucks the one they first came out you could daisy chain four speakers together they will not do that now really disappointed I bought four speakers but can only listen to two
That Onyx is one of the best sounding portable speakers I've come across. You can feel the base in your hous2 when properly placed in a corner.

Wattage should double when you plug in the speaker, thus making it louder.

The battery life at about %50 - %75 should give you around 7 hrs of better life. But it advertises 8 hrs

It is not stereo.
Two connected together do not play in stereo.
It plays both left and right channel to both speakers.
They call it dual sound not stereo sound.
The onyx 4 is the only one supposedly with stereo when connected together.
Harman Kardon always set the price around 400 while you can find them on Amazon between 150 and 200.
The batteries are weak on these also you need to plug it in to get the 50watts.
That is a trick from harman kardon in many of their speakers

@@JustNicholas247 Inside the speaker some disassembly videos showed one woofer, one tweeter and the dual passive radiator in frontal and back position, but isn't a problem with the expansion power of the speaker. You can check other portable speakers like Sony srs xb41, jbl extreme, LG pk7, anker soundcore motion + whose configuration show two drivers but those doesn' t have the feel of the stereo of two well separated bookshelf speakers, so is barely noticeable in those speakers if they use stereo due to the closed distance of the drivers, onyx 6 outperform those with one driver at the exception of the extreme in with were is a closed tie.

How do you mean "more portable", besides maybe shock resistance?
Other than that, JBL (I assume you mean Xtreme 2?) wins for stereo sound and rough-and-readiness, with that aforementioned drop resistance.
H/K wins for bass depth, overall sound reproduction - if lacking in the mid - utilise any sound enhancement/EQ you might have to rectify this. My Dolby Atmos HD works great on my S8. Overall shape with carry handle is super handy as well. Vocals come out with incredible clarity
In the end it's up to you, take advantage of any opportunity you have to listen to both.
I just got mine and the battery after 5 hrs charge die in 2hrs

@@jetstream454 In full volume is 2h -3h playing. It depends the music too, if is too bassy or not. At volumes about 50% I got it 5h of playing. But in volumes about 20% left I got more than 10 hours playing. (I use during all night sleeping).

That's my issue with the 6. I bought my 2 when it first come out. The black with gold legs. I've not been able to hear a 6 in person and don't want to buy one if the sound is compromised for playing time.
Older series Onyx speakers seem to be muffled in comparison, and out-of-the-box even the 5 & 6 aren't that full in midrange. (5 and 6 share componentry, the 6 adds waterproofing)

people say that you can daisy chain them you cannot daisy chain them you can pair two together but you cannot pair four together not three together only two which really sucks the one they first came out you could daisy chain four speakers together they will not do that now really disappointed I bought four speakers but can only listen to two
