Hello, that coupon is discontinued, do you have another?
Had to choose between joining Fanatec or Moza systems from thrustmaster t500. The moza won me over with the gs wheel and the qr so im now the proud owner of what is to me an incredible piece of kit. It feels so premium and "real" to me. Great video braking it down, i look forward to the others and hopefully they teach me something about my setup etc!
I own this setup and switched from the CSL DD to Moza R9. I actually did my first video on the my preference between the 2. Can’t wait to see part 2 and three. Although I do like the all in one video but I understand the change. Great stuff.
I saw your video on this a few weeks back and liked it! keep making content bro
Another great one Will, cant wait for the follow up! love the looks of the wheel
Happy that you're reviewing this; it's a product that has my interest as my next upgrade so eagerly awaiting the final thoughts and comments! :)
Great Vid .. like the new set up for reviews looking forward to part 2!
Been waiting on this one! Awesome
Oh yeah been waiting for this from you guys, let's go
The steering wheel looks cool. Great vid as always 👍
Have been busy and haven’t watched your videos for a while. It’s amazing that I used to find you are a great hardcore sim racer, but now you are totally professional on what you are doing here(maybe I am just too dumb to catch it back then). Keep on the great works!!!
Haha thanks. We were doing reviews long before posting any racing content.
@@boostedmedia I know, I mean you did great products reviews just because you enjoy sim racing, and they were on the product product, and now it’s deep down to the bolt of the product.
Great review mate. I have a few software question an a comparison question one to ask but I, wait for Pt3...I don't want to jump the gun.
Oh I've been looking forward to you getting hands on one
Got my R9+GS wheel since last Friday. So happy with it, quality and feel is amazing. Definitely a big step up from all the fanatec stuff I have. Will still use my inverted v3, handbrake and clubsport shifter for time being.
GS wheel is so much better than what fanatec offers quality design wise. Also the quickrelease is how it should be. Shame fanatec never improved quickrelease and not offering a quality 30cm formula/gt rim. I loved my mclaren gt3 but too plasticky and low quality build.
Fanatec sucks, it is known.
Very detailed review 👍🏻👍🏻
You took a blowtorch to it 🔥? Things must get pretty serious down there at Boosted Media 😂.
Great review as always and super detailed, you never seem to miss a thing. Always really interesting to watch.
Haha yeah I was determined to get that hub off but it wasn’t gonna budge without putting a shock through the motor shaft which could have caused damage. Didn’t want to bathe it in acetone either because I didn’t want to damage wiring, etc.
Excellent and professional review as usual Will.. Very interesting for the people searching for their next wheel base! 👍
I have PC, but enjoy console. If Moza had Console support I would immediately buy it. I also understand why they don’t though.
Well here’s your chance they now have the moza r3
amazing review
Damn at 10:37 when you spin the Fanatec stem you can see how bad the wonkiness is. For the price they charge I expect it to be perfectly straight. I agree that the system they chose is a weakness for it. I wanted a Fanatec for a while now but the more I hear about it and see it, the more I consider other options... This Moza now being one of them.
Simagic Alpha Mini and never look back ;)
And there are people that scream till they're blue in the face that Fanatec has absolutely no issues whatsoever 🤡
@@ns_racing Simagic or bust ;) , I can't wait for the GT-C wheel to come out omg
@@DavidGarcia-oi5nt same! 1 more month
to be fair, its probably not aligned correctly. lose the screw a bit, and insert it correctly. its a shaft inside another shaft. (and the Fanatec CSL DD is $199 when you buy it with wheel and pedals, while this Moza is $499 here, so more than 2.5x the price)
I know you had some issues with the Simagic company, but it’d be great to see a comparison of the Alpha Mini vs the Moza R9 and the CSL DD. I imagine a lot people are debating between these products.
Our review policy forbids any company from any editorial control over our review style content so it won’t happen.
@@boostedmedia Gotcha. Thanks for the reply. Love the channel!
Definitely going to check this out. Picked up the TR80-Lite yesterday and started the build last night. Purchased it on your affiliate like so hopefully you get some kick back for that ;). I was chasing a Fanatec CSL elite but they're very elusive now. G27 it is until I can save a little more for a better system.
Nice one bro thanks 😊
I'm getting really sick of waiting for the QR2. I'm seriously thinking about changing wheel ecosystems to get a better QR than what's included with the DD1. That Moza QR looks really tempting.
I wish I had more info regarding Fanatec’s QR2. No info currently though I’m afraid.
90% of Fanatec's wheelbases went out of stock all at once. I hope that had something to do with it.
I hear a lot of people have issues with the QR1, but I don't have any issues (yet?). What issues are you experiencing with the QR1?
@@UniQue1992 the problem for me is I change wheels often and that rubber basket you need to tighten adds an addition 30 seconds or so every time I switch my wheel.
Sim Experience uses a similar quick release as well. Very solid
Wish this supported console, its a beautiful product
Looks as though they’ve come a long way. Which is nice to see. Think fanatec have started to drop the ball. Any idea if there’s an Aussie supplier or do you have to order directly from moza? Look forward to part’s 2 and 3. Cheers mate and keep it up
Search in your area, in Europe there are 6 stores or more, I'm waiting for them to arrive and now I'm making a Thrustmasters QR extender for my 6 USB wheels... All reviews and opinions are welcome, thanks Will.
Would be cool to see you review that t1 design wheel if you can get one, ive seen it on reddit quite a bit
they should gave this console compatibility. And they will sell more of this. It's made by a small company in Italy.
Amazing product! I'm just waiting that they realise a couple of les expensive wheel and I'll buy it!
Saw on Reddit the other day a leak of 2 new cheaper wheels coming. Didn't have a date, but I don't doubt it will be too long from now.
Moza say that in late May or early June they will anounnce they're entry level wheels!
Hi, i know its off topic, but i bought a second hand BMW M3 GT2 wheel its not the V2 version. I mounted it on the DD Pro Base (it felt a bit hard, but was okay), now i have a big problem, i simply can't get it off. Is there something wrong with my base or the quickrelease? Or are there other people who experienced the same? Any ideas, how to get it off?
I love my R9! Had it for about 2 weeks now and you cant pry me off it.
Pro tip: There will be cheaper wheel and pedal options soon, the products are already live on the Chinese language site. Imo wait for those if you wanna save some $$.
any link to the website?
yoooooo tyvm for this info ,, i contacted support to see if they going to drop a cheaper wheel,, i am just stuck llooking at the wheel base lol
@@hawkeyes4768 Mid/late June is what they have told people in comments of instagran and twitter.
😳 thx, this is what I've been waiting for. I mean the GS is absolutely gorgeous, but I'd like a formula style wheel with a little less rotary switches and buttons for a lower price.
11:45 I'm going on my third wheel base because of the CSL DD shaft. First one had a minor clunking up and down which was slightly irritating but never disconnected. They replaced it with a unit that disconnects after an hour or so. Currently have an RMA to get a third wheel base.
Kind of driving me nuts and seriously considering dumping Fanatec.
I don't have DD yet, but my first choice would be Fanatec but I don't rule out other options. Seeing the Moza, I like it but it seems to have a more plastic aspect compared to the Fanatec one. I clarify that I do not have any DD.
Hmm decent start here then for the Moza R9 as a PC racer, will have to see how the software's doing and your conclusions though to get the full picture ;)
the software is perfect, nothing more to say, the only question we can ask today about moza, is it a reliable brand? I think so
Being on console I'm limited to fanatec. The dd pro is quite the step up from my thrustmaster stuff but I'd love the option to get moza stuff on my ps5.
same
I'd like to hard-mount 6x70mm steering wheel directly to the shaft. Does ayone know what is the bolt pattern on thie R9 shaft after the male side of quick release was unscrewed? Like ssen @ 19:55
I was wondering if you had recommendations for FFB settings, for the CSL DD 8nm?
Yep. Check out our review of it and our Fanatec setting explained video.
I really want a CSL DD because I already have the pedals, and it's relatively cheap... but because they're all out of stock on their website, and used market is on crack, I just wish that they would be compatible with different brand wheels. then I'd definitely think about buying
Have you tried to connect GSI formula wheel to this wheelbase?
I play a drinking game when I watch these videos..... every time you say "ecosystem" I have a shot of whiskey. I'm usually legless by the end 👍
They every time i said “as well” and “and stuff like that”. You’ll die. 😂
@@boostedmedia these are the best reviews on lubetube though. Very in depth. I'm new to sim racing but already looking to upgrade from the t300rs gt wheel and pedals I'm using to something better. Don't really wana spend 5k but willing to spend a bit to get good mid level gear that I won't be wanting to upgrade again in 6mths..... any suggestions? I mainly race gt3s in acc (and I'm in Aus by the way)
Have a watch of how videos on how to get started. It’ll teach you how to prioritise spending to get the best value for money. Rig and pedals are most important.
Is it just me or is the shaft on the CSL DD look like it is bent when you spun it showing the pins or does it have a slight offset on the QR fitting??
GS comes with alcantara. It is more like a real racing design compared ordinary rubber covered grip. Better play with gloves though.
Ordered a CSL DD two weeks ago and it became bent and clunky and the motor has a grainy feeling sometimes. I wish I just bought this base and left it laying around with no peropherals instead of having to deal with this bullshit. Been waiting for support for days. I regret going with Fanatec.
They really need to get on top of customer support. I don’t think they’ve managed to scale up to meet demand with the success of the CSL DD and GT DD Pro.
@@boostedmedia The customer Support of Fanatec is utterly bad! Speaking from my own experience. had a lot of issues with my CSL DD and they were not helpful
Same happened to me, but luckily my CSL DD broke on day 1. Spent 2 months trying to return it and had to resort to filing a credit card dispute to get my money back. If you can call you CC company they might be able to help you. Then buy something better then like a R9 or a Simmagic Mini.
Good luck homie.
@@dustyice3110 Getting the Mini Alpha as soon as I can
Simagic and MOZA , which one is the best?
Can I use the fanatec shifter and hand brake with this setup?
can moza formula wheel run in a simagic alpha mini base?
I am very excited about the wheelbase as a newbie Sim Racer, looking to upgrade from the G29 set. I also heard that this R9 is supposed to compete against the CSL DD. The issue is, which I understand MOZA is already addressing, is the cost of their wheels and pedals. I am truly and eagerly awaiting the release of their mid range products. I am not a fan of how Fanatec does business and am glad that they now have some competition. Does MOZA have a US distributor?
I ordered in US from US-Simmotion. Best way to order directly in US. My R9 GS arrived last Friday and to me it is better quality and design than my Fanatec stuff. The FFB also feels awesome.
Moza already released the $250 CS wheel and the SRP pedals (basically a copycat of the CSL pedals) in chinese market. They will release those globally soon
@@mArvAlcao71 very cool! Do you have a link to that? I've been searching online for a couple of weeks and can't find anything. Thanks!
@@thehumblepundit9790 Just visit Moza's website (YT delete my original comment, idk), then switch the language to SImplified Chinese
@@mArvAlcao71 thank you!!
When are you doing a full review of the Forte pedals? 🙂
We will do a follow up video soon. But the experience is essentially the same as the first look video so it will only be a short one. Great product for the price.
I don't know if I can wait for tomorrow
i am wondering if the base works without a wheel attached to it (aftermarket steering wheel with usb connection).
Yep it does.
Wish this was console compatible. That wheel is exactly what fanatec is missing.
👆🏾
can the gs formula wheel be used on the DD R5??
Off the rip, I have questions about the value that this Moza setup brings compared to Fanatec. In particular, I've heard that the R9 doesn't have integration with Moza pedal offerings. What's your take and how do these 2 (Moza/Fanatec) compare for beginners/casual racers?
PC-only wheelbases like Moza/Simagic/Simucube doesn't really need integration with pedals
@@mArvAlcao71 thus adding an extra parameter to work out n reducing the ease of switching between platforms
@@soca268 do you mean between PC and console?
@@mArvAlcao71 yup. I, for 1, am fully invested in console & rank among beginners.
@@soca268 well, sadly base like this one is PC only. I do get your question tho.
Fairly new to sim racing but does the quick release in the r9 mean I can just get a real wheel and put it on? Do I need the pins connected or is that just for leds and stuff and it doesn’t matter if it’s not connected with the pins.
Those pins are for electrical power, they are not needed to put a real wheel or a USB steering wheel, it works on all bases except for Fallatec, Fanatec is the hidden blackmailer.
@@JoseFcoBN legendary mate, thank you. Was either this or the mini alpha but not sure what cause I only have a table and Logitech pedals and shifter at the moment :(
@@rixxy5334 If the table is strong you will not have a problem, I made my cockpit and screwed it to the wall and it is stronger than any aluminum one, I use it with G920, TM TX and I have been with T-GT for 4 years and I will continue with Moza. I also had that doubt, in my case I save €150 buying Moza r9....for 1 Nm more Alpha mini is not worth it...
I bought the QR and a bare rim aimed at the sports car market. Perfect, as long as you have a separate shifter. I use that for Eurotruck, where I am on automatic gears anyway. Then I built a DIY GT3 wheel (this is the cheapest option for a USB wheel), which has loads of buttons and connects to the PC via a USB cable. Those are your options if you don't buy a Moza wheel. Mine bolts to my desk and is rock solid - the R9 clamps are great.
@@justpostedagain So you use a 3rd party quick release with moza r9? Which exactly QR did you buy?
The discount does not work ?
If you want to see the new cheaper Moza steering Wheel and pedals, change the language on their site to Chinese, than translate back to English and they show up.
we need a reivew of the simgrade there pedals
They’re here being tested. Will get to the video asap :)
Owned mine for about 2 years and geez their software update tanked so many wheel bases. My R9 used to run like a champ now it overheats after 40 mins and reduces FFB. Saddd :(
the controller board looks different from the one in the sim racing garage review
Oh yeah? I’ll have to take a look. I wonder when he received his? Might have been preproduction.
Thanks for the 50 bucks off. :)
You’re welcome! Enjoy!!
Is it possible to just buy a qr and mount a wheel using regular USB cable or are u forced to use moza wheels?
No you can use any wheel that can interface with the PC directly. Just need a QR
@@boostedmedia awesome! 😍😍
hey, it's a bit of topic but did moza fix the r16 performance wise?
We haven’t tested the newer unit they sent us yet
@@boostedmedia thank you for the reply, but that means you gonna make a review on that too?
I'm on the fence between Moza and VRS system.
Seems very "inspired" by fanatec :) Maybe some their engineer have also worked on the latest Aston Martin F1 car :)
But more $$$ and no console compatability seem a big negative.
Shame they are not for console, are they going to make it compatible?
It’s discussed further in the part 3 video coming out on Wednesday. There are aftermarket adaptors but they aren’t officially licenced so compatibility isn’t guaranteed like with Fanatec, Logitech and Thrustmaster.
Is there a new code for Moza? Boosted is not working
Are clubsport pedals compatible with this setup
Yes if you plug them in to your PC directly via USB they will work with any wheelbase
This wheelbase looks like a nice entry level product, but when are these manufacturers going to realise that they need to also provide console capabilities. It’s no fluke that Fanatec have done so well over the last few years, if I’m investing in a rig I want the kids and visitors to be able to have a go on a simple console title without having to have a complex full pc only difficult sim experience. Make your product suit all platforms, only then can they compete and they would fly off the shelves.
Unfortunitely this is a Sony and Microsoft problem.
They lock their systems and then sell the privledge to use wheels on their systems. Fanatec pays and then charges you $100 extra to buy a wheelbase that works on consoles. Its honesly gross they gotta squeeze evrey $$ outta you.
@@dustyice3110 I get it, but Moza, along with these other companies need to go ahead and get the licenses for these wheel bases. Most people spending this kind of money on wheelbases wouldn’t mind spending an extra $100 or so for console compatibility. We’re already this invested.
Umm you will find that many console racing games are also on the pc
@@echelonredmedia6512 also, the vast majority of people buying DD wheels tends to be racing sim users
@@dustyice3110 It's pretty sad how this is the case...
Madcatz made a midi controller for different consoles, it turns out the only difference between the PS3 and Wii version is an onboard resistor. Remove the resistor and it's recognizable on the PS3. 😆
Of course that was before manufacturers started using security chips.
I bought a GS Streering wheel, R9 Base today and connected it, but the base is connected and the wheel is not connected. What should I do?
i need help please ..
take a shot every time he says "today"
Best drinking game is to take a shot every time I say “as well” and “and things like that”. You’ll be ruined by the 10 minute mark. Loli
@@boostedmedia ill load up a video next time my mates are over. they're gonna love this new drinking game lol
R9 or DD Pro which is better?
Watch part 3
Great wheel and base but its a shame that the resale value will ultimately be low. Fanatec has that as upper hand in my opinion. You decide to upgrade then you can make alot of your money back if item looked after
Unless moza is very reliable, we will see in the future
I don’t think it’ll be an issue if you sell locally. I live in a city of over 500k people and the only sim racing gear on marketplace is logitech g29/g920, with the occasional old fanatec/thrustmaster setup. Very rare to see DD wheelbases and load cell pedals, so even being a Moza I think you could make back a lot of your money
Is that price in Australian dollars?!?
USD
The problem is the wheel base is good budget price....but the wheel is more expensive than the base :(
Buy a similar QR and put a USB steering wheel... I'm going to put my USB steering wheels that I now use with my T-GT.
It's odd you kept stating that it's 'toylike' and all plastic but it's mostly thick carbon fiber metal, which is why it's so sturdy. Plus the switches are solid and not janky like the fanatec wheel which I would say the fanatec is much more toylike and the Moza more professional by far.
Just a heads up for anyone looking to buy Moza, my r9 wheel base that is less than 3 months old failed and also the quick adapter broke, I was in touch with Customer service but they stopped replying to me all together. Look elsewhere or buy from a US retailer. Do not buy directly from them, they’re based in china so there’s nothing else I can do but take an L.
I would love to have one of these and send my G29 for a walk...but my country is stupid and wlill charge me more than 100% in import duties.
In Europe there are 6 stores, for €480 you will have it.
@@JoseFcoBN I live in Brazil and that makes things much more difficult.
@@fabionemer6822 Well, yes, I'm Spanish and I've known for years the problems you have in Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and other surrounding countries, it's a shame... you can still buy in the USA, I don't know if the trip and customs will cost you more money that the same base? It's funny, in Spain there are already 2 stores that sell it and in Portugal there is also a store in Germany, France, Italy and England, here things move quickly...un saludo y muita sorte.
You should mention that only the base is 499 , pedals and steering wheel will be 1500 no way entry level price csl dd bundle is 2 times less
Yes, very misleading title
Well after two weeks and without doubt the worst consumer experience I’ve ever had I spent the day getting a refund and cancellation from fanatec. So now instead of getting a deal like I could have on Black Friday I’ll pay max price to go with another brand. And so begins trying to figure out what other options I have without spending 2k dollars. Not looking good if this isn’t a great option.
Asetek La Prima would be my pick right now as an alternative.
@@boostedmedia It seems I have to go that route but I really need a round wheel right away 🤦♂️ Not many options on that from what I see other than spending a whole lot of money on a button box and rim from them. Which is like 500 dollars ..
You could get the universal hub and just a basic rim for now I guess. But yeah fanatec has a much wider variety of wheels for now.
Simagic or bust
Love the wheelbase, but $500 for a wheel rim? Fukkkk
Seems moza is the best thing on market today but over 2000$ for a kit isn't worth it to play some games...this is purely for sponsored esporters to use
You could say that about anything, every hobby has levels to it
