This video was made under very controlled conditions, under the supervision of the shooting range administrator - do not reproduce it yourself !!!
This video serves as a demonstration of shooting, not the production of a weapon !!! (Experimental- Do not recreate)I hope you enjoy the video. Thank you.
In this video you will see 9mm luger fmj ammo exploding outside the barrel. .What Happens? What powerful?
I used a Gopro Hero 10 camera for slow motion. 240 fps.

More powerful than I imagined
because the casing is planted, if the case is not held in place there will be even more direction for the energy to escape.
@@humorss True, the energy from the combustion with also repel the casing backwards, greatly reducing the speed of the bullet going the oposite direction; Neuton's third law.
@@ConsensusX indeed, and the case being lighter than the bullet would mean that the case would actually move more than the heavier bullet that would want to remain at rest.
Yeah it seems like the casing is being pushed back into the small groove, in effect surrounding and somewhat stabilizing it, sort of like a very, very short barrel. It would be interesting to somehow see it fired but without the bracing/stabilization. Like maybe it being loosely held by a vice and then struck with a pin? I’m sure the case would go flying but I’m curious how much less speed the bullet would have in that scenario
Pretty cool setup, but being fixed at the base means more force is being directed towards the bullet than if it was ignited in free space.
The only way you could detonate the cartridge in free space is by trowing it on fire, this video shows how bad will out of chamber detonation be
@@NumbDiggers1998 Not true, you could fire it in free space with a mechanism that detached after the striker moved forward to hit the primer. It would be a more complicated mechanism than the one shown in the video but is certainly doable.
Amazing how much forward momentum is lost because the forces are basically going out in every direction instead of being concentrated in one direction. It reminds me of how I had heard an internal combustion engine described as 'a series of controlled explosions'. As always, such a cool video and I am sure many of us have often wondered what would happen without a barrel. Cheers
I plan to give a new video every ten days on a similar topic. I have over twenty different types of bullets. 50 bmg, 500 nitro express, 500 smith and wesson, 44 magnum, 338 lapua magnum and more.
@@MrMichalRUclips And you know, I'll be here, watching them over and over again! Your videos are so well thought out and wonderfully shot (no pun intended!).
@@Pete_R63 Thank you very much for your support 👍
You'd be amazed how inefficient an internal combustion engine really is. The energy lost is between 60-85%...
wow the 9mm seemed much more powerful than the .22 or the .45!
Bullet is around half the weight of .45, probably more than half as much powder, that results in more velocity/energy in the circumstance of having no barrel/chamber. That's my theory anyhow.
Try a 7.62x25 Tokarev, might out-perform the 9x19 in this scenario. Basically just as much powder as 9x19 but smaller and lighter projectile. Ought to, in theory, result in more velocity/energy/penetration. That or maybe the smaller projectile 'catches' less of the uncontrolled explosion behind it thus resulting in less velocity/energy/penetration? I dunno, and I doubt I'll ever know unless Mr. Michal takes another trip out with his dandy little contraption, some 7.62 Tokarev, a fake hand, an apple, a watermelon, a can of Coca Cola, and a slab of wood.
Can even use his 9x19 base; 7.62x25 is basically 9x19 but with the casing lengthened by 6mm and necked down to .30 cal instead of .35 cal. Similarly, .223/5.56 is basically 9x19 but with the casing lengthened by 26mm and necked down to .223 cal. One more; .308/7.62 Nato is basically a .45 ACP with the casing lengthened by 28mm and necked down to .308 cal. If memory serves, .357 Sig is basically .40 S&W necked down to .35 cal (9mm).
I fancy the idea of developing my own ammunition someday once I get to America and tinker with some of my own designs. Y'know, just for funsies :D FREEDOM!
@@normanmccollum6082 also .45 is meant to dump its energy, 9mm? Not so much
@@aviationist1018
I do not believe that .45 is meant to 'dump its energy,' and I'm pretty sure that .45 ACP has quite similar penetration to 9x19. There were tests done by Police in relation to various different rounds, particularly in terms of penetration. There's a reason the FBI wanted to upgrade from 9x19; during that one shootout, what was it, Miami Dade or some such thing? They shot a suspect in the side, I think it went through the arm and into the side of the chest, perhaps through some lung tissue but didn't reach the heart. The fight carried on, lives may have been lost, but if that bullet had gone just a BIT farther then the fight would have been over. Thus, 10mm was developed. Well, either developed or adopted, if I'm not mistaken.
Ultimately, personally, I don't perceive a whole lot of difference between .45 or .40 or 9mm. They're all in the same class from my perspective. .45 may be the best cartridge for suppressed shooting. 9mm is the best of the three in terms of ammo-weight (so you can carry more) and capacity due to its size (superior magazine capacity or the same capacity but smaller mags). If comparing apples to apples, maybe .45 ACP with JHP projectiles can produce the biggest and most devastating wounds of the three. With non-expanding FMJ, I suspect .45 still punches the biggest hole but it's more like that all will have through-and-through wounds, it could be that 9x19 with its higher velocity may cause the most hydrostatic shock while passing through the target but I don't know that for certain.
In the end, my perspective is that for shoulder-fired carbines or SMGs, .45 is an awful choice because of the weight of the ammo (230gr .45 ACP is VERY close in weight round-for-round to 150gr M80 7.62 Nato, yes, a rifle cartridge) and also either the mags would have to be much bigger and/or the capacity would have to be diminished compared to a .40 or 9mm carbine/SMG. UNLESS, you are going suppressed, in which case .45 is likely the BEST choice despite the weight/capacity issue. If you're limited on velocity (subsonic), then having a bigger/heavier bullet is the only way to have better per-shot performance. 9mm seems like the best bet for non-suppressed shoulder-fired platforms due to lightness of ammo, less recoil, and very good capacity. I know, there's 147gr 9x19 for suppressed shooting, but I anticipate the both 185gr .45 and 147gr 9x19 are both subsonic but that the .45 is more potent.
As for pistols, 9mm still has the capacity aspect and less recoil, however the ammo weight issue is less of a boon because you're unlikely to be carrying more than, say, 50 rounds of ammo which in and of itself is probably regarded as excessive for most. If you can handle the extra 'oomph' of .45 recoil, go for it. Personally, the extra recoil of .45 makes it more fun for me at the range. There are people who WILL disagree, but I still regard the M1911A1 as being a lovely carry pistol. You are unlikely to find a slimmer .45 pistol, or slimmer .45 magazines. Once I get to America, and I look forward to the day, whenever that may be when I can leave this Canadian shithole where I can't even legally carry PEPPER SPRAY for self-defense (yes, you read that right), I will likely carry a 1911 from time to time. I don't think I'll have a dedicated carry pistol, even though that's probably the best tactic to use. Would a 9mm be better? Perhaps. All depends on the individual. That seems to be a constant in life. So much depends on the individual.
@@normanmccollum6082 bro you didnt have to write me an entire essay, im not going to even read it. The .45 isnt as fast as 9mm and its bigger diameter means it blocks more air flow, and also the bigger diameter causes it to have more damage. Ask anyone about power dumpage of 9mm vs 45 i bet you most of them will say 45 stops more than 9mm
@@aviationist1018
That's fine, you don't have to read it, I enjoy writing about firearms and I write multiple-paragraph RUclips comments/replies frequently. It's fun for me, I enjoy expressing my views.
I disagree that .45 inherently 'causes it to have more damage' than the 9mm, but to each their own. Also, a lot of people can believe something and they can all still be wrong. Majority-consensus does not equate truth or fact or reality. The majority of people CAN be wrong, assuming your claim is correct.
Be Kind of interesting to see how much damage is without the rim being supported I had a guy toss me a new unopened box of bulk federal 9mm 100 rounds from 6 feet away one round went off blowing the box apart the actual bullet was On the ground with the rest of the other rounds I never did find the shell casing end up with powered burn’s on my hand and what I thought was a small cut on my middle finger end up getting a X-ray later to find out there was a small triangle piece of brass so I got meet a hand surgeon to have a full-blown surgery to have it removed called Federal and they act like this happens all the time
Can you increase the distance so we can see the danger range ?
Need one that isn’t holding the rear in place. I think that’s why it gets propelled so much.
Can you try putting the cartridge/shell in a barrel that is only long enough to keep the casing from blowing apart? i.e. barrel length + chamber length = casing length.
Valuable information thanks
@2:38 I love this photo. Without context people will be scratching their heads. Usually the bullet expands not the case. Hollow point cases LMAO!!
Thanks for this interesting video!
Amazing experience 👍👍
Ukraine needs this. Even this can defeat Russian tank's armor
Nice watch, is it pagani designed?
This guy might owned gun range
Wow it's way quieter without the barrel!!
If it fits, 500 s&w ?
so the barrel makes it so the bullet does not explode and carrie the energy on the bullet?
Great Video !! Did you make that device or can I purchase it ? Thank you.
The launcher is manufactured. cannot be bought.
@@MrMichalRUclips kindly shae the manufacturing peoperss of this luncer,, pleasee plsase
the 9mm did way better than the 45acp
Lets see a comparison un chambered cartridge and chambered with no barrel and also proper barrel.
that so amazing, can you make a video of exploding rifle ammo out side please
For the round that explodes off the barrel bullet energy is so miserable
Fkng outstanding!👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍💥
Velocity data would be interesting.
Is it possible to simply shoot from a pistol barrel clamped in a vice, with a cartridge inserted into the chamber, by hitting the primer with a nail or by holding a lighter? Is this dangerous? 9mm
Interesting 🤨. 9mm much better than a 45 in this scenario. I wonder how a 357 Sig or magnum round would do?
haw you tide sll shells?!
Holy shit, that's a sharp knife
It means without barrel bullet is not much powerful thank you 🙂
qual valor
چطور میتوتنم یکی از اینها را با وسایل بسازم ؟؟
9mm beat 45 in out of battery energy
I've been playing with this stuff my whole 54 years of life but I'll tell you this the only thing that surprised me was that of course without a barrel to glide down and build up velocity that it went so high so quickly it looked like it raised up an inch or two and hit the top of the hand but that could have just been the exhaust gases for the projectile casing
Cela doit mieux fonctionner avec un canon ;)
Only 9mm
Wow im the luckiest person in the whole state because i had a 9mm go off in my pocket and i wasnt hurt to bad it didnt break the skin . Angels must have been protecting me ! Thank you god jesus my lord thank you angels
How ?
Super vidéo, cependant tu devrait augmenter la distance pour laisser au balles gagner en vitesse et ainsi avoir de meilleur résultat 🤷♂️😌
Ow
Kasihan buahnya di eksekusi kenapa nggak koruptor aja ya 🤧🤧
wow fucking amezin
I’ll take one to the leg and sign all waivers if your interested!?
Make a big tank with an actual pointy thing on the barrel instead of firing a ball
