- Fourteen years down the drain...While on the hunt for a chocolate babka for a dinner party, Jerry explains the merits of the black and white cookie to Elaine. If only people would look to the cookie, then all our problems would be solved.
From Seinfeld Season 5 Episode 13, 'The Dinner Party': En route to a dinner party, Jerry and Elaine stop off at a bakery and get held up when the bakery runs out of what they want to purchase. Meanwhile, George and Kramer, en route to said dinner party, stop off at a liquor store to buy a bottle of wine and have a hard time picking one out.

About Seinfeld:
Seinfeld stars Jerry Seinfeld as a stand-up comedian whose life in New York City is made even more chaotic by his quirky group of friends who join him in wrestling with life's most perplexing, yet often trivial questions. Often described as "a show about nothing," Seinfeld mines the humor in life's mundane situations like waiting in line, searching for a lost item, or the trials and tribulations of dating. Co-starring are Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Jerry's ex-girlfriend and current platonic pal, Elaine Benes; Jason Alexander as George Costanza, Jerry's neurotic hard-luck best friend; and Michael Richards as Jerry's eccentric neighbor, Kramer.

I always laugh when Jerry and the other guy raise their cookies to each other across the bakery
That exchange sounds like something people lie about online to get attention.
Lol the black guy that holds up the cookie 😂
Every time I go into my local Jewish deli, I look to see if there are any black people in there, there was once and so I bought a black and white cookie and did this at him, he didn't know what I was doing, but I check every time just in case I can do it.
"Sorraaaay!" I've been apologising that way since this episode aired.
So have I!! 😂😂
sure buddy
Lol!
😆😆😆
Why??
BRUH I NEVER SAW THE NOD TO THE BLACK GUY
THAT'S FUNNY AS HELL
look to the cookie Donavynn! look to the cookie!
@@SiccDeville *nod with a black and white cookie*
The "Another Bapka" delivery is an instant classic. Seinfeld had some of the best one deliveries. The "No" to Newman asking for a sip of soda was also amazing.
No soup for you!
It's pretty hot under these lights, eh Seinfeld. Pretty... HOT!
"I'm sorry I'm not Braaad. I'm me! NICE TO MEET CHA!"
@@seinfan9 Actually I’m quite comfortable.
lol Another Babka - Elaine and Jerry said it was cake. Actually Babka - It's bread - then inside is filling of Cinnamon or Chocolate. I've made both kinds. These types of breads don't last long at all.
I just noticed is the same bakery which Jerry tried to buy a marble rye in season 7. Even the same actress plays the bakery-woman.
Schnitzer's... it's actually a real NYC bakery
That’s NYC living. You always go to you local bakery, cleaners, etc.
2-3 block radius
I love how they don't mind hanging in the bakery and talking for maybe two hours
The other guy eating the same cookie makes this scene
I beg your pardon?! Cinnamon takes a backseat to NO babka!
Funny line. To no chocolate would have been more fitting.
I was reading the line as it was playing
That was the best "sorry" I've ever heard in my life. Lol
I love how George and Elaine show their own pettiness this episode. George doesn't want to bring a gift to the party. Elaine doesn't want to wait in line.
george never wants to bring a gift to anyone for any reason.
“George, you can’t just show up at someone’s house with Ring Dings and Pepsi.” 😂
They failed to grasp the simple concept of "you snooze you lose"
Exactly it’s not fair they got there first but it’s not everyone’s problem they forgot their number.
This is my favorite episode. It's reminiscent of The Chinese Restaurant. Very simple story arcs, but the writing is great.
Yes and like the Chinese Restaurant, based 100% on daily relatable things
My favorite too, of all time. Honestly think it should be up there with The Contest and Chinese Restaurant, but its not for some reason.
The cashier trying not the laugh the entire time you can just see her reaction until it’s her time is priceless. 🤣
I gotta agree with Jerry here cinnamon is amazing.
With time this show gets even better.
As you get older this show makes more sense, and you relate to the jokes and stories more and more.
@@steverogers7601 Not only that but also because comedy is dead. The present short clip is firm example of something that would never be aired today.
“ Look to the cookie Elaine, look to the cookie.”
Elaine"The black and white? Not getting along? Hahahaha
😐🍪
Words to live by
Not only did people not look to the cookie.. it seems that ran as far away as possible.
Love how the black guy looks at Jerry and nods his head..." yeah brother"🤣😆🤣
the cookie high 5 with the black dude, absolutely classic.
The answer invariably comes back: Cinnamon. Cinnamon! Again and again.
It really does.
2:45 the bakery shop assistant is convinced by Jerry's argument ... such acting
Cinnamon sounds better actually
The black and white cookie in Jerry's hand flips in between shots.
What?! You're telling me this wasn't the best cinematography? A live on tape comedy? Mind blowing
"You sold us a hair with a cake around it."
To this day when I make a half hearted attempt to apologize, I say, "Sorry" it just like that guy. 😂😂😂
Every single line in this exchange is a delight! World class writing! Respect to the creators and actors!
✌️
Thank you. You’re welcome.
I wish it was the 90s again!
His "I think I'm gonna throw up" was so spot on. It sorta made me nauseous, I even had to think real positive to make it go away. Give that man another award! Lol too good! 👍
Elaine is always getting hurt 😅😂
Yeah, she got bitten by a dog.
“I want to know what’s it’s like when you go senile..”
Now that was a grand slam.
"I think I got David Duke and Farakhan down there" is one of the best lines in the show IMO
I never got that joke till I got older 😂 and had learned who David Duke was
Nothing mixes better than vanilla and chocolate!
Peanut butter: am I a joke to you?
Yes. Peanut butter is a joke. A bad one at that.
"14 years down the drain", story of my life.
My record is 11.
Is this consistent with The episode where george asks elaine if she s ever seen jerry throw up? Dont think jerry and elaine know each other since 1980.
Yeah, I so rarely throw up that every time it happens I think of Jerry's sad defeat here. 😆
You should throw up at least once a year. Its dangerous to go too long without doing it.
Cinnamon is definitely NOT a lesser babka 🤣🤣😂
The "black and white cookie" incident is like when Jerry said "not that something wrong with it!"
Jerry tried to show he's cool about these issues
*not that there's anything wrong with that
@@mobus1603 Right. My bad
And a black and white cookie, for me...peace! ✌🏼
I truly wish race relations could be that easy. Amen 😇
This whole scene is perfect. Elaine getting hurt is always funny
Who do you think you're, Mussolini?! One of the best episodes of the show 😂
Back off puffball, it's not my caaaar!
@@mike91mdk45 Wasn't talking to you! 😒
Hopefully all these new clips will bring the new generation to Seinfeld. So funny man
Growing up I absolutely LOVED black and white cookies
Me too I always get one when I'm in NYC.
I prefer the white and black cookies myself.
I had this cookie for the first time about 20 years after this aired. The person who gifted it to me brought it from N.Y. but didn't know about this episode until I mentioned it.
Awwww how cuteee
You know come to think of it, I haven’t thrown up since I was 13. Right now I’m 29. Looks like I beat Jerry Seinfeld lol 😂
you've beat me, too!😂 last time I got sick like that, was back in 2010, and I'm 51.
No one defends Cinnamon the way Jerry does and i go with him.. It's great.
Lol The way this dude just silently got up to walk to the toilet has me nostalgically dying. 😂
I just had some black and white cookie ice cream and this scene popped up in my head lol.
I also had a 'no throw up after drinking' streak that lasted for years and that on the night of Dec 31st 2020, in real life.
Which is the best Comedy TV Show ever??
The answer invariably comes SEINFELD😇👍👌
The cinnamon of sitcoms.
To me Seinfeld and Frasier are equal.
Again and again My friend
Married with Children
@@switch12345678 no. Not suitable for families and way too repetitive
4:03 well, if we cannot look to the cookie, where can we look?
I sorta remember a Town House Cracker variety with pretzel material on the opposite side from the normal (light-color) side.
Maybe we could instead "look to the cracker." Of course, that carries its own connotations 🤣
Love that Babka. Yeah Yeah. LOL!!!
The look on Elaine's face when the server says cinnamon babka. Look to the cookie Elaine, look to the cookie! Wait, what about your vomit streak?
I bought my first black and white cookie after seeing this scene
Despite going on about how rude and socially unacceptable it would be to show up at a party without an appropriate quantity of gifts, Elaine is picking fights in public and threatening to sabotage fellow guests at that party, all because she failed to heed the bakery's own rules and standards. And then when she starts whining about having to bring in a lesser babka, it's clear this whole endeavor is more about flaunting her social standing.
George had the right idea in this episode. Pepsi and Ring Dings for all!
no wonder why they went to jail.
Elaine could be bossy and pushy to the point of being obnoxious.
George was right about how ridiculous some social conventions are.
This is a clipped version. The delivery of the babka from the owner has been omitted...
This episode was so top of the line!
One of my fave episodes and a lesser talked about one, I'm here after Jerry's interview about his favourite things and cinnamon is one, I immediately thought of his cinnamon speech lol
04:22 That non-apologetic "sorry" lol
Interestingly, the voice was of Larry David's.
If you know them, tell them to get your order too with their order
Simple problem solve
Lmao the way he said sorry 😂😂😂😂😂
@ 3:20 the chocolate is at Jerrys left side and later he is eating it at the right side and then it’s back at the left side. 😂😂😂 he even said it “look to the cookie” 😂😂😂
The black and white cookie is two races of flavor living in harmony
The ending of this is insanely funny
Francis continues his reign of terror, moving on from stealing bikes to stealing babka.
Bux-Ton!
La Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine sure does look completely and entirely different here.
Who was Napoleon to have a cake? He was a ruthless warmonger!
Might as well get a Mengele.
Better than carrot cake. You don't make carrots into a cake, I'm sorry
@@mike91mdk45 it is great
"Look to the cookie Elaine, look to the cookie."
Meanwhile the cookie engages in violent intercookie violence that threatens to tear his stomach community apart.
I guess the lesson from the cookie is that two flavors should be enjoyed on their own separate cookies.
Next you'll suggest they should have their own schools.
Thanks!!
One of ny favorite episodes
Cannot unsee the fact that the cookie kept switching sides between shots.
i got david duke & farrakhan down there lmao!
_Saw-ree!_
Nah if you don't realize you have to take a number that's on you
Barbara's hair - ooooo nice nice nice
Ha ha...I have never seen Elaine act this childish before. She starts an argument with someone over a ticket she forgot to get.
Do you remember the exclamation point?
Yes. That was also funny.
the cookie keeps changing positions lol
First scene of Jerry holding and eating the cookie and saying look to the cookie....the white side is on the left...next shot it's on the right with more bites taken out.
Maybe because Elaine, I mean Julia, started cracking up or something, lol.
Then perhaps race relations are not what they appear to be.
He took his gloves off several times too
You know brown exist as well right.
@@entitiessoul cinnamon
"14 years down the drain!"
Literally! 😂😂😂
if only humanity today could look to the cookie...
Too many gluten allergies.
if only we looked to the cookie instead of burn loot murdering
"I often wonder what you'll be like when you're senile ~ " 😆😂🤪☺️😆
3:59 david duke and farrakhan lol
Classic: race relations through the prism of a cookie that ended up in the toilet!
I love those black and white cookies.
OH MY GOD 3:41 was so hilarious XDDD
Why is no one pointing this out? I shrieked
"I got David Duke and Farrakhan down there" LOLL
Elaine is so lame, it does not matter who came first, ticket belongs to the one who took it first.
"Look to the cookie."
I’ve had cinnamon babka today. It tastes like cinnamon buns without icing. I’ll try the chocolate one later
3:37 Look to the cookie Elaine, look to the cookie
I love their costs
"You sold me a hair with a cake around it?" LOL
Elaine delivery of lunatic is hilarious
Great episode, thank you, I need comedy, since I've made my life a tragedy.
I think I got David Duke and Farrakhan down there. 😅
“ You sold us a hair with a cake around it “
When I was 8 years old I mixed white chocolate with regular at Easter and threw up lol.
just bought black and white cookie k cups, very excited 😊
This is why I never go anywhere
I ate a black and white cookie a couple months ago that made me sick but somehow that was funny to me because I thought of this. I got it in the first place because of this episode.
another babka!!😂😂
Anyone notice how the cookie flips from white on the left and black on the right to vice versa at 3:30 of the clip and back again at 3:38?
Ssarraaey…! 😂😂😂
"look to the cookie Elaine, look to the cookie"
Yeah yeah🤣
This is one of those, here I'll give you the money just get what I need situations
