This was very useful and helped me picture and bring to life an idea I had for a raincoat for my fussy American bulldog that hates walking in the rain. Thanks!❤
you might want to measure your dog around the chest. Then subtract out the fabric that's on your dog's back, but with a little seam allowance. the straps should overlap about 2 or 3 inches, and add some length for the seam allowance. hope that helps!
What other items could be used besides an umbrella? I wonder if fabric shower curtain liner would be good material to make rain coat? I imagine the basic white ones could be dyed. Tye-dye would be fun.
Ooo I love that idea - a tye-dyed rain coat! If you have rip-stop nylon, that'll be somewhat water-wicking. Oil cloth should be waterproof. And waxed cotton is another great, synthetic free option if you can find it (or make it!).
So glad I found this. I will make one for Shorty this week. Thank you.😊
Wonderful! I hope Shorty likes it :).

thank you so much for the clear explanations and for the beautiful results. I will try for my dog.
yay!
this was so helpful thank you!
You're so welcome!
My dog gets hot, so I don't want another layer. Will the brolly material be strong enough without a liner? Thanks for this video.
I think so! You could also add a very thin layer of fabric if you're worried - like a quilting cotton. Good luck!
looks slick :)
it is :)!
thank you so much! What a great project, I'm definitely going to have a go at this. xg
Thank you so much Gina! I hope you have fun with it! -Liz
Oh my word! Great project!
Thanks Susan :)! It was fun - and he seems to like it!
Thank you so much I will be attempting this today. I have a German Shepherd so it's difficult to find something her size.
Good luck! I'd love to see the finished project! You can tag me on Instagram :) @no_trace_shop

Vinyl table cloth works amazing also ❤and also has a backing so built in stabilizer.
Late to the party, I went to a thrift store and found a large raincoat I'm going to cut up and make 2 dog coats from :)
Cute dog! Is that a yoranian?
He's 100% mutt! :) various terrier mixes :)
