I don't know what's cooler being in a band with 💜💎Prince💎💜 or going to a McCoy Tyner show with him. L💜ve these Truth in Rhythm episodes, so much fun to hear the stories!
Just stumbled upon your channel and subscribed great interview you were patient and helped guide her through it I know some other interviewers were very impatient with her and just spoke over her and rushed her excellent job and going to purchase your book from amazon.
Really interesting that Gayle had no problem making out on stage with Prince for extended periods but she wouldnt sing a couple of lines on "Head" . Hmmmm something tells me were not getting the truth of why she left
at what time does Gayle explain why she left Princes band and 2 if she doesnt appreciate cold weather why does Gayle not move to a warmer beautiful location?
Wow. She doesn't give a great interview, it's as if she doesn't really want to talk about it. But she did say she was a little jealous. I get that totally. It would've been a trip to see Prince and her kissing onstage during a set or gig, though. Wonder how she felt seeing him with Lisa in a big movie later she could've been in!! Fascinating.
It would be very interested to know Ms. Chapman's advice to musicians on survival as a musician and I would very much like to know if Ms. Chapman thought that prince was mentally stable. He seems to have suffered from multiple personality disorder to me. I would also be very interested to know if Ms. Chapman ever met Prince's mentor Pepe Willie and how she viewed Prince's meteoric rise to Super Stardom and if she ever heard from him... He always seemed to be totally offended by questions about his past life and past work.
Prince was very stable. He was drug free when I worked with him, and very focused and driven. He was very active in practicing his character representation for his songs and performances. I see this also in his films. I think (and this is just my opinion) that as he was more established in the industry as an Icon and became older, a lot of what he started with changed, mellowed, improved, and got much better as a result. However, in his final years, I think some of the performance demands had caused physical and very painful ailments, which may have been a precursor to the drug use that killed him.

This is not an interview. It's an interrogation. She's obviously trying to open up and show some humor, and there is positively no response from the interviewer. She should have told him to just buy a F-ing book and do his own research...
Nice Monday morning quarterbacking. She was not especially forthcoming with details and a lot of information had to be pulled out of her. Unfortunately that process may end up seeming like an "interrogation." At the end of the day, hopefully viewers get a sense of her and some info that is new or of interest to them.

This is such a great interview with Gayle, love it thanks so much
I became a prince fan after Gayle left the group, during the revolution era. It was good to see her tell her story.
Fascinating interview -- Gayle Chapman is articulate, humble, has a sense of humor, and is obviously an excellent musician.

Ms. Chapman comes off as nothing short of articulate, intelligent, and very hip.
Gayle Chapman is a magnificent woman of intelligence and beauty.
Great stuff. I loved the little supernatural aspect of it! 🙂
Enlightening interview!

I love Gayle's sense of humor! "I got dressed up... looking like a whore... and went to breakfast." 😂
Prince knew the best.
