Well done mate! For those that may not understand. I removed the metal key from the fob, unlocked and locked a few times and Presto. Thanks for the tip
So you inserted the key in the door and locked and unlocked a couple of times.
I’ll give this a go
Thanks
That is the strangest thing I have ever heard. But it worked! I was having the exact same problem as you - down to one remote not showing the error message and the other one showing it. I replaced the battery more than one time while trying to figure out what was wrong, I thought it could be the key-fob was bad and apparently they cost anywhere from $250-$500. I was NOT looking forward to having to buy a new one. I did one last search and VOILA! Your video came up. I dont know how you figured this out but THANK YOU!
Hey guys, if this doesn’t work for you, a comment below fixed mine.
Removed the push button start button, used the key to start the car, no more warning light, thanks a lot guys.
You legend. Tried everything but this. Thanks mate 👍
This method worked for my E350. Thank you.
After 3 new batteries replacement I contacted my local MB. dealership where originally bought my E350 twelve years ago and was told that this problem is common with my model and was advised to buy a new key fob for AD.$600 have been putting up with this problem for a few month now until i saw your post, i didn't think it would work until i tried and BINGO IT WORKED , you are a genius thanks allot
I've had this problem with my 2014 ML350 on and off for many years. I too have wasted batteries thinking the new battery must've just been a bum battery. Told the dealer about it a few yrs ago when vehicle was in for service. They did a software update or something. Then it was good for a while. Now I'm having the issue again. I hope this suggestion works. 🤞
Update: yes it worked! Worked on my 2014 ML350 and for my husband's 2014 CLS550.
@@chuckannd6034could you help me and elaborate what to do please? I’ve tried it. No results. I removed push button. Inserted key. Turned key until the dash lights up. Pressed close and open. Removed fob. Inserted push button. Same results.

First I took the battery out of the key fob for about 5 minutes and then reinserted it. I don't know if that's necessary, but I thought maybe it'll clear the memory. That's was always the first troubleshooting step on cell phones that had removable batteries. 🤷♀️
Then I locked and unlocked the car with the button on the key fob, not using the keyless method where you wave your hand over the door handle. I did the lock and unlock with the button on the key fob again from the inside the car. I think I started it in between that. I can't remember for sure.
It couldn't possibly be that simple. I thought I was going to shell out big $$$ for a new fob. Thanks for discovering this!
Worked on my 2014 ML 350, took it to dealer two times and they just changed the battery but the problem kept coming back. Thanks for the help!
I’ve pulled the start button off, put the key on place, didn’t start the engine and random pressed the unlock and lock buttons. It totally worked. Thank you guys for the tips.
Hope you subscribe and give me a LIKE. Thanks!
YuDaMan just did it.
Excellent. The other process didn’t work
No sure if anyone was confused as I was just listening to his instructions without seeing him do the actual steps.. but guys literally pluck the push start cap off put your key in there then turn it to the “on” position which is just before actually starting the engine. All lights will be on the dashboard. Literally with your finger lock and unlock your driver door guys. I did it a few times. Then I turned the key to the off side. Took the key out the ignition slot. Replace the push start cap then literally push started the car without the key and the key fob message did not appear.
Hope that help those who’s mind work like mine. ❤
That did it! ....I was skeptical, but taking out the "engine start /stop button, then physically inserting and turning key to "on" (without actually starting the vehicle).
Then locked and unlocked the doors a few times with the buttons on the door.
Turned the key back to off.
Replaced the "engine start/stop" button and started with the button.
No more message telling me to Replace the batteries which I had just replaced 2x.
Thank you!
Man no way did this just work! Lol! Dealer quoted me $800 for a new fob! Wow! Thank u so much man!
Totally worked. I've been dealing with this problem for months, or maybe a year. Just kept ignoring it until the car wouldn't actually start. LOL. Thank you!!
Glad it helped you. I'd appreciate a LIKE and a Subscription! Thanks.
@@YuDaMan mine won't start now and tried this and still nothing!
Thank you! This just worked for our 2014 ML350 and our 2014 CLS550.
Its actually work. It had been bothering me for months.Thank you.
Thanks for the tip, it totally worked!
Tried it the way u described it and it works. Thank you
Omg, I threw away two batteries. Thanks a lot, man!
Thank you very much! It worked on my keys! ✌
Tried several suggestions given here. Lock/Unlock using the fob buttons. Tried unlock/lock with physical key (detaching from fob). Then tried removing the Start/Stop button and using the fob to start the key. None worked. But by changing the battery (as suggested by one contributor) to Panasonic 2025 it worked wonders. One more observation. While initially one fob was working (lock/unlock and keyless start), the other key was simply not recognised. I had bought the car a few days ago so I thought I was palmed off with a defective second fob. However, once the first one was fine, I changed battery on the second fob too and that too started working 100%.
Thank you. So did the Panasonic battery last longer than a few days, and the Replace Key Battery message went away? The Panasonic battery is the solution? I think I've put in 3 new energizer batteries and two days later the message reappears. Very frustrating.
Thank you.
Thanks so much. It works for 2015 ML350.
Thank you! It fixed my issue!
Thank you so much, this was driving me nuts!

Thank you so much! Worked for me to get rid of that annoying message (and my car is a 2017 Honda CRV).
Thankyou it worked ................... Saved me a trip to the Dealer
It worked. Thank you for sharing
Thanks for the video. Saved me hours and $$$
Thanks you. It did work with my car
It did not work for me. I even manually started the car and turned it off, got back out, locked/unlocked it (repeat 4x) ... still have the message. But it was worth a try. Thanks for posting a great idea.
Yup the same here ! It didn’t work !
Looks like that worked on my GLA, thanks.
This worked on my c300..2015 thank you!
Thank you having the same issues on my wife's Mercedes. will try this
It worked! Thx, man. 👍🏼
Great job. Thanks saved me a trip to the dealership today 😁

Absolute genius. THANK You So much!!! It worked.
Thank you sir 🌹🌹🌹
I’ve got the same fob and battery only last 2 weeks what would cause this ?

I tried all the suggestion but unfortunately, they did not work. I was indeed surprised with what did work. My "Service B Exceeded by 3000 miles" indicator light had been on. Once I reset that the key battery issue went away! Surprised the heck out of me!
We’re you clicking a pen for noise effect when pressing the key buttons?
Those
Keys don’t make a click noise
And the noise was a little off timing from when you pressed the key buttons.
Just thought that was weird….lol.
Same issue with 2014 E350- finally cleaned battery with alcohol (new battery came with adhesive protective strip on negative side)- all well now.
I have the same car but it’s not working , still the same issue . The car start fine and all the buttons works perfectly but the annoying alert to change the battery still there.
"Manually lock and unlock with this key." So use the remote buttons manually? What does that even mean?
Right!
The stated suggestion did not work for me. Here is how I solved it.
The working key had a blinking red light in the upper left area below the “panic button”. The “replace the battery” key did not display a red blinking light when pressing the buttons. This is the core root of the problem. It has to display this red light. I went ahead and swapped the batteries from fob to fob, cleaning both batteries on both sides really well. What do you know, both fobs have red blinking lights and both work normally now. No more stupid replace battery message! Hope this helps.
Thanks. Going to try it now
No sign on dash. I replaced battery but doesn’t respond. Does it need a new key or can it b re programed
I changed my battery to a brand new Maxwell CR2025 but the message "replace key battery" still appears. I also tried all the listed methods in the comments section & non worked for me. Then I change my battery to a "Panasonic" brand CR2025 & it works flawlessly now. To test whether it's the battery, I use back the Maxwell & the error message appears again.
😂yayyyyy !!! Thank you so much so simple.
How to remove the message for replacing the key battery for S 500 2014??
Not sure if I'm doing it wrong but I unlocked and locked several times using the fob but it still shows the message after I get in the car and start it
Read other comments below (like the one from Paul James) which indicate there might be other solutions which will work for you. Help others by updating your comment with what worked for YOU. Thanks.
Thanks for the video, I did what you said but my 2011 c63 change battery light is still on
Read the comments section and you will find other ideas and suggestions that might work for your situation
YuDaMan thank you so much, I read through the comments and it’s fixed it
Just watch out for the alarm if you are inside the car and locking it with the key 🔑 u need to unlock again
Good information but it didn't work for me. Don't know if i understood correctly, when you say lock % unlock manually i understood to lock it with out using the key instead lock unlock with the lock of the door handle. Now, i tryed it both ways but still have the same problem. Need help with that, thank you.
Read comments from others who tried other methods and were successful
@@YuDaMan okay I see, some of the comments mentioned something about tgetting the original battery, its what worked for them. I guess I would have to try. Thanks for responding bro.
Hi guys. I still failed to resolve on my 2015 w212. Or maybe my step was wrong. Get the key and manually lock n unlock ? Or start the engine, sit in the car and then manually lock and unlock it? 1st step wasnt work. Or maybe the 2nd step?
This solution didn't work for me either. I used Maxell made in Japan. I heard Australian dealers recommend only Varta or Panasonic batteries, so I bought some. Sure enough, the Panasonic cures it. Some forumers tested the Panasonics which apparently give higher voltage compared to others.
Interesting, have had this problem on our ml350..2012 numerous times. I would always replace the battery, but the Scottish in me wouldn’t let me throw away. Blind luck, obviously your technique, it would go away. Gofigure😳👍
So what exactly is the problem?
Erick Money __ you just need to lock and unlock your car with the key fab, you don’t need to do it with your actually hands and key
For anyone who's reading this, and the video didn't work.. try this (if you have the start stop button) remove the start stop button, put the key in and turn the ignition on - dont start the engine - then press the buttons on the key (lock/unlock/boot) a few times each. Turn the ignition off, remove the key and put the start stop button back in and jobs a good'un. Seems to re-pair the key to the car and clears the warning.
Paul James hey I’m trying this right now and still isn’t going away, is there a sequences I should press the buttons while the key is in the ignition and on the on position (engine off)
Any help appreciated. Changed battery several times, tried manually unlocking and locking with physical key. Now tried this, message still hasn’t gone away once I get in the car and start it with the start engine button.
@@degacci Hi, I did 3x lock, 3x open, 3x boot.. I genuinely have no idea if that's the 'official' way but it worked for me on this car and the last one.
Paul James thank you will try it today, also might order a lithium Duracell battery as I read that it works flawless
@@degacci good luck, hope so !
@@pauljames6187 you right!!
My message appeared only after installing a NON-genuine start/stop button from Alliexpress. If I remove it and follow the procedure in the video, the message disappears. I wonder if the people having no luck have a cheapo button like mine?
It worked, but it didn’t last for more than a couple days. Tried again and again and then the key just wasn’t recognized by the car. I looked for the original battery and checked it was the Panasonic lithium 2025, wich I’ve bought for about 0.95 each. Well, it totally worked. It’s exactaly the same battery they sell at Mercedes dealer, 10x cheaper. I was really surprised, as I’ve used lots of other brands with no results, including Duracell, wich was supposed to be much better.
Lo and behold It didn’t work !!!
Replaced the battery couple of times and tried your way but it didn’t work ! It’s fine with other key but the second is asta la pasta ! Any new methods ?
Tried your method on my 2015 C350 and it didn't work. I think it didn't, that is. Then I remotely locked/unlocked the car again and then used the physical key to start the car, not the start button. I pulled the "Start Engine" button and physically inserted the key into the ignition and started the car. Presto! No more change battery message.
Manually Locking and unlocking with key fob did not work for me either, removing the push start button and using the key fob to start the car worked... BUT as soon as I reinserted the push start button and started the car again... the "Replace Key Battery" message reappeared.
TenSeven had the same issue. Replaced with a energizer LITHIUM not regular. Message immediately went away.
c5ct worked for me so far, thanx
@@Diji_T you're the only one that makes sense I did exactly what you did and is exactly what it's doing to me the same exact thing you remove the push button stick the key fob in the ho start the car up and there's no message well duh how stupid can the person that just posted that beat take the key back out put the push button back in and start the car and the message reappears the battery is fresh it locks unlock the car with no problem it opens the trunk with no problem but when you start the car you get that bull shit fucking message fucking Mercedes Benz and I have six of them
If you replace new battery that nearly 3,30volts its ok. But i established that every pressing the button, battery lost 0.01 volt... When the battery decrease to nearly 3,05 volts;
the massege appears in the car,
the red light on the key stops flashing
you can still open/close the doors or use the start button,
-BUT you can NOT close or open the windows using the key.(ex: press and hold the lock key to close all windows but you cant).
So we have to replace a new one in a quick period but its unacceptable because volt is still 3 and it should be 3...
I heard that this is a software fault and service has got a software to fix that situation. If someone has any experience about this software or something, please inform...
I wonder how that helps those of us who don't have the key 😂
I don’t understand, how can you “start the car and lock it”?
Didn't work on my '15 C400 unfortunately.
Yep! worked on my CLS500, removed the button inserted the key, started the car and the message....vanished...
Same here with my E350! Thank you.
haha i have a 2017 c300 with the same problem, problem is i dont have a key hole on the outside of the car.. Well im off to search another way to fix this issue!
So, actually that didn’t work for me. What worked was inserting new battery without touching with bare hands. Message gone.
I'm dad to say that this didn't work for my ML350. I do know that pressing the OK button on my steering wheel clears it until the next time I start the car.
* I'm sad to say...
Solution:
Lock and Unlock your car multiple times until the "Change Key Batteries" message goes away. It'll just disappear.
Tried this with my E250, worked perfectly.
Just tried but the message stays. Gotta try a few times including key-start?
@@naughtykini That wasn't how I did it but it's worth a try! All I ever did was back in the day i would repeatedly lock & unlock till the message went away.
I have the same problem but with my Lincoln
If the message still present, try my trick. Put off the start stop button and try to click it 3 Times and then install it back to the Ignition hole. I've tried the methods from this comment and the message still present until i accidentally find this trick. Work on E250 W207
Thanks for sharing your method, which will surely help someone.
my car won't start now after I changed the battery, no what?
Did not work on my ‘14 ML63
I don’t get it!
….didn’t work. 🤔
I tried it, it did not work, go figure, 2014 SL550
read comments. I believe someone else added an additional step/solution that work for them. Maybe that will work for you.
Take the actual manual key out of the fob and unlock and lock doors.
