Thanks Andrew, great way to spend a lunchtime. Will be interested to hear about the work you did to fit the larger front sprocket when you have the time.
Yeah, basically just put the chain catcher in a pair of Molgrips and ran it over a grinding disc until it was thin enough to clear the larger diameter of the chain. Pretty agricultural 👍🏻 It does 3 jobs I can see. 1. Catch the chain should it break. 2. Act as a spacer for the sprocket cover. 3. Protect the insulated wire that runs up through the front of the sprocket cover. IMO- it will still do all three now it’s modified so I’m happy with the result. Some people prefer to go -3 teeth on the back and shorten the chain instead. But this is maybe 3 or 4 times the price and I don’t have a chain tool. Caveat- not a mechanic etc 😀
@@flyingdutchman4you thanks for watching. I don't think it's that as the Himmy was still higher geared. I just think the suspension is better suited for off road so you need a lot more commitment maybe.
I am changing my himmi in for a voge 300 rally as well. Much like you, I had a layoff from riding of 18yrs. I want to get back into trail riding and have also decided to have a go at the tet. I am not to far from the tet as I live next to it on Salisbury plain.
Thanks for watching 👌🏻 It’s up to 3500 miles now. Sadly work and weather has meant I haven’t ridden for a couple of months. I’ve just done an oil and filter change and it’s still running as sweet as a nut. Once the trails dry out so I can ride without causing too much damage, I’ll get out for an update 👌🏻
Hi Thanks for this vid. I have taken the plunge and bought one. What fun! However the owners manual is about as much use as a zip in a hanky. I want to be able to check the coolant level, but it seems I need to take all the left hand fairing off! Is that right? Cheers.
Hi @Mikep9212 Excellent stuff, I think you’ll enjoy it 😀 Nah- I just peer around the side of the panel with a torch. Mine barely had anything showing in the expansion tank and although the radiator was full, I did top the rad up until it was up to the bottom mark of the tank. It hasn’t budged since 👍🏻
@@clunkygearbox don't know if it still helps, but here is a maintenance video ruclips.net/video/CAXG62xq2m8/видео.html (for dealers I supposed) with English subtitle. It covers all normal maintenance stuff for the 300. It helped me a lot for my self servicing.
Hi there, I tried this bike a couple of weeks ago. I found it to be very disappointing. The way the engine and gearbox work together I found appallingly bad. The engine has almost no torque and to compensate the manufacturer has installed a close ratio gearbox which means 65 kph equates to 6000rpm in 6th gear. Not for me ...
Strange. The gearbox is optimised for off road use where it excels but an added tooth to the front sprocket (£8 upgrade) sorted that out and made it much more flexible. I’m not sure what you expect from a 28hp, 165kg machine? As for torque- even with the higher gearing, it tractors up hills with virtually no throttle, even with my 100kg geared up weight on board. I’m on 3600 miles now and it’s still putting a smile on my face. Mud plugging, green laning, long days on the TET, sunny afternoons trips to the beach down the back lanes and even filtering through traffic are all mincemeat to these bikes. Even motorways aren’t annoying with the higher gearing. I’ve found the holy grail of bikes I was looking for my entire life (tried all kids of adv bikes) with this machine. And the fact it’s £3750 is a bonus!
@@VogeRallyADV "I’m not sure what you expect from a 28hp, 165kg machine? " - my answer is I was expecting better than my current 24hp, 199kg machine. I understand that I could change the front socket but 1. I think I would need to up it 2 teeth & 2. the purpose of a test ride is to see if it meets your needs and in this case it didn't. I couldn't buy it (even though I was hot to do so) on a promise of a modification solving issues.
I don’t know what your needs are but I don’t recognise your characterisation. Especially if the 24hp, 199kg bike is a Himalayan? Even on stock gearing, Nathan the postman shows how it’s more than capable of a 2000 mile road biased adventure with luggage. That said- I’m not on commission so I don’t really mind what you think of it 🤣👌🏻 I’ll be out on Salisbury Plain with a mate on a crf300l tomorrow. Looking at about 100 miles of road and 50 miles of trail and I know for sure I won’t miss my Himmy for one minute.
I rode to Dover with the front on and it was okay. But they are VERY noisy. Next set will be TKC 80’s as they are an awesome road tyre and good enough for ADV off roading in my opinion 👍🏻
Yes! “Off Road Off Course” mentioned in his review it was one of the comfiest bikes he’d ridden. I was sceptical of that but perhaps he’s right- I have happily done 12 hour days no problem at all.
The thing about chinese bikes is, their lack of commitment... I suppose they have improved in quality department but just lack of after sales is not appealing.
I don’t know. You can buy bits from AliExpress for it for peanuts. MotoGB have a website full of parts on short turn around. And the dealer has been nothing but helpful so far.
What a lunch break! Great video thanks! Hola from Argentina!
Thanks for watching 😀

probably the sprocket change is why you cannot pop the front? @@VogeRallyADV

I love the Plain. The Great Southern Trail is a great way to rediscover the local area 👍🏻
@VogeRallyADV should meet up sometime as your not too far from me I think as I'm from the Amesbury area. Go out for a ride.
Sounds great! If you are on FB, maybe join the Voge 300 Rally UK owners page and make contact through there? (Andrew)
Thx. Nice review…..one question: what kind of tyres did install? Couldn‘t really understand it…Cheers from Germany Rainer
Thanks. Now have Michelin Trackers front and rear.
@@VogeRallyADV Thx for your quick response. Which dimension did you use especially for the Inch rear tyre? Rainer

How do you feel about these off road tires on the highway? Are long trips possible or only enduro rides?

I'm interested...what are your local trails... around your area.
I’m Newbury so lots to choose from. Ridgeway in the summer, Salisbury Plain, Cotswolds, even south wales not far, South Downs 👌🏻
I understand that carnaby scooters is now selling these in thatcham.
Oh wow! I’ll check it out thanks.
Hi which tyres you used?
Michelin tracker 👍🏻
What UK sizes are they please?
90/90_21 front and 120/90_18 rear 👍🏻
Didn't you change to a larger front sprocket ? & the front won't come up easily ??
It's physics man. You can't have it both ways !!
Good video
I think there’s still more than enough torque. It’s just the suspension is WAAAAAAY better at keeping the tyre in contact with the ground 😀
Is the seat comfortable, better than Himalayan? My arse kills me and knees on Himalayan
