This is how I changed out my DRL bulb to leds. The light is White and not blue. My camera does not pick up the colors correctly in the dark.
1. I do not use my high beam at all. Not once, not ever, so the light output at night time to flash someone or to light up a dark road is NOT a concern of mine.
2. The DRL lights does not stay on with your low beam headlights. When it gets dark and you turn on your headlights.. the DRL light turn off. So It really did not matter to me how bright they are at night time since they do not stay on with my low beam.
3. I really did not like the dull yellow stock drl light so I wanted to change to white. It really did not matter to me how bright they were at daytime. I just wanted the white color "looks"
The DRL bulb is a 9005 bulb. The stock DRL uses the highbeam bulb at reduced voltage (6v) as the day time running lights. Now if you change out to leds, they will also be running at 6V.

I was just at the Honda dealer the other day. Went in for break service, told them to change out the dead DRL bulb because it was dead on the right side. He said I had to buy a whole new headlight unit because “It’s too difficult to reach”. I new right away that was a lie, lmao. I figured I’d find a vid like this that would show a guy doing it with one hand.
Very good instructional, your videos are straightforward. You mentioned not using high beams at all but do recommend anything for us that do? I know you said they would be expensive ($100+) but I would like your insight on what LED to get for high beam use as well.
People have recommended using something similar to these:
www.vleds.com/bulb-type/9005-hb3-5k-cxa.html
I have no first hand experience with them so i can't firm if they are indeed as bright as the regular stock bulbs. They might "look" like like they are brighter but it might not project light where it will light up the road 20ft ahead.
The flickering is because in DRL mode the bulbs are only running on 6volts. So the leds flicker. I have the 7.5W COB style led so it is not noticeable in real life. However, the camera did pick up the flickering.
The HID ballast is at the same location. Under neat the beam that runs across the top of the radiator.
The bulb is a 9005 7.5W COB led. The seller I bought mine no longer has them in stock.
With the leds from VLEDS would I need to install a wiring harness if I already have HIDs for my low beams?
Thanks! What’s a good led bulb to get brighter highbeams too?
I have both the fit and the accord. I'll be doing a few more mods on the Fit soon.
Hey what's going on Jeff, as always I watch all of your videos, it has helped me in so many ways, thanks. Anyways I have a simple question, how do I turn off the DRL during the day and have my strip light on instead but without the parking coming on.
I did watch the video you did on how to disable DRL by removing the DRL fuse.
Sorry if my question is confusing you.
john k
Steven..... is your ebrake engaged? DRL will not come on if the ebrake is up. Also.. if the ebrake is not engage.. check the DRL fuse. The fuse is located on slot #2 on the driver side kick panel 7.5a fuse.
The fuse is located on the driver side kickpanel: Check this video for location. the fuse is located on slot #2.
2013 2014 Honda Accord Interior Light Fuse Replacement.
The fuse puller and spare fuses are located under the hood:
check this video out:

The fuse for the DRL light is #2.. inside the car.
DIY: Car Modz lmao thanks man. I was freaking out...then the e break. Right...
Sir, I am there I have a 2013 Accord, now I have a problem with front lighting is very weak what to do
Did you swap to HID or are you still using stock halogen bulb. If you changed to HID.. what HID brand are you using. Have you tried switching back to stock to see if the light is "weak".
Dam that engine bay was crispy way back then
Can you share a photo of how your DRLs look during the day time?
At the end of the video where you're showing the output against the building, what's with the DRL flickering?
Also, what happened the the HID ballasts? Did you move them? They don't appear to be at the same spot during your install video.
I notice my led drl aren't as bright during the day as If i would to turn it on at night. How can i make it bright like it is at night?
At 3:50, the white light on the ground, the one that cuts off in the hedges. Is that the DRL you just changed?
No. the DRL bulb will not produce any straight cut off line. The straight white light across the bush is the low beam. The DRL light turns off when the headlights are on.
Hello , so I read your description on why you changed it. basically for that white look during the day. I too, have bought 9005 bulbs, but they were halogen white bulbs. when it is used on DRL, it is still yellow. but when I turn on high beams, they turn white. that is so weird lol. but what I'm trying to say is that I HAVE to get Led bulbs to get the white look with drl? our accords I believe are EX? I just want to be 100% for when I buy my leds, that it will show white for DRL and Highs.
Yes, it will be white for DRL and Highbeam when using led bulb compared to halogen bulb. amzn.to/2O9PX8M
I want to know what is the brand and model or stock number of the bulbs you installed on your video for these DRL. thanks.
It looks white. My friends says they can clearly see them across the opposite intersection.
I thought this was for the Drl strip replacement bulb. Not the low high beam
Okay, I will do the footwell led soon.
Can you tell us what brand of bulb that is and where you got i?. thanks
Hey, I'm looking to purchase some led lights for the 2015 Honda Sport. On Amazon it lists that even some of the 9005 H3 bulbs are not compatible with the new Honda Sport. Do you have any advice or links as to which bulbs I can purchase?
How does it look during the day?
@GetYours www.amazon.com/OPT7-Headlight-Bulbs-Clear-Arc-Beam/dp/B00VNBDOV2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1444350934&sr=8-1&keywords=opt7+9005 I haven't used it but I heard it was good.
What and where did you get that bulb inbox links please sir.
Did the seller ever restock or is he still out-of-stock for the bulb? Also would it be ok if I were to just get the bulb by itself or it's best to get one with the fuse just like yours? Thanks.
Sorry they are out of stock. You do not need to buy the exact same ones I'm using. There are many 9005 DRL bulbs in the market. The only main difference is the brightness of the led. Just search for the best one that fits your budget.
where did you bought them
Did you get rid of the honda fit?
also on the honda isn't there 2 light bulbs? the one you just replaced and another in that globe thing next to it?
+ballinboylbc Yes. Front turn signal lights are dual filament. It acts as both parking and turn signal light. Coupe and Sedan uses different type of bulb but yes, both model has it.
how much is the cost for this bulb?
Thank you brother. 👍👍
Are these the ones from vleds? If so, looks like there is a ballast as well... did you have to install that or were you able to plug the factory harness into the bulbs harness?
There are not from Vleds. Vleds might sell something similar that will work perfectly fine. These do not come with a ballast. the round thing you see is just an inline fuse. The bulbs are straight plug and play. Just make sure you purchase the correct bulb socket (9005)
Where did you get yours from?
so buying the high beam Hid is a scam? ??
How comes you did not use any resistor?? Don’t you get the DRL light on the dash??
Honda Accord does not have such a warning light on the dash. It does not check the DRL bulb for malfunction. Only brake light bulb.
Can you tell me which bulbs would be good to use for high beams if i'm swapping out for LED?
+ballinboylbc www.amazon.com/OPT7-Headlight-Bulbs-Clear-Arc-Beam/dp/B00VNBDOV2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1444350934&sr=8-1&keywords=opt7+9005 I haven't used it but I heard it was good.
i saw these earlier. amazon says they don't fit my car though.. so i was hesitant about buying them lol
+ballinboylbc Few 9thgen owners have them. They said they fit and works. However, I have not personally tried them or seem them in person. I can't100% say they work or is even an upgrade from stock.
cool. do you use the same bulb for High beam/DRL as you do for low beam?
+ballinboylbc low beam is h11 and drl/high beam is 9005 hb3 .. different socket.
How do you get the led strip??
The DRL n fox light bulb of honda accord sedan 2014 is the same size H11 bulb ?? m so confuse about the DRL 9005 bulb that u recommend because it it has 18SMD 9005 bulb , 68SMD 9005 bulb and alot more. Please specific. thx
The DRL bulb is a 9006 bulb. It is the highbeam bulb operated at 6V instead of 12-14v. If you change the DRL bulb the LED..You no longer will have a functional high beam.
You can get something like this:
www.vleds.com/cxa-led-headlights.html
www.amazon.com/iJDMTOY-9005-9006-H10-9145/dp/B00HFDC02G/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1397165001&sr=8-2&keywords=9005+cob+led
would I be able to install just the bulb with out the fuse ? 9005 LED, 5W Cree, White
Yes, any 9005 led bulb will work.
Do u need the resistor for this LED? And how many watt is it?
Thanks a lot
I did not use a resistor for the DRL led. The LED used on this video is a HB3 COB 7.5W led. When referencing led vs regular halogen bulbs you can not compare the "wattage" of the bulbs. You have to compare the light output of the bulbs (lumen). LED will produce a higher lumen output at lower wattage compare to regular bulbs. With that being said.. these leds produce around 750 lumen at full brightness. Just be aware that since these are running on DRL mode.. they will not produce the full brightness. DRL mode = 6volt instead of full 12-14volt.
This is not for the DRL! It’s for the regulate headlight bulb. The DRL is a strip underneath the regulars headlight bulb. So the title needs to be changed.
Only 2013 - 2015 Honda Accord V6 trim comes with led strip DRL. All i4 eg. LX, Sport, EX and EX-L comes with the high beam as factory DRL.
DIY: Car Modz I have a 2015 Honda Accord sport 4cyl model. I just changed the headlight bulb and DRL strip bulb to LED. It was 2 totally different bulbs. I could have bought the whole strip. But it was way more expensive. Btw, maybe you might know this? My fog lamps don’t work and the fuse blows the minute I replace it. Where would I look for shorts. Is there 2 separate harnesses for each fog lamp. Is there a harness that connects them as well? Or could it be bad bulbs? Neither work. Just wondering because I want to do LED in fog lamps also. Thx.
Hi, If I turn on high beam after install the LED light bulb at night, will it flash the other drivers? honestly, I don't wanna flash someone.
Mingtan Wang These leds will not blind anyone. You will be lucky if they light 20ft in front of you. They are purely for looks. Besides, you shouldn't be driving with the high beams on when there is on coming traffic.
do i need a decoder and any resistance for this or i can just plug in the 9005 by itself???
By itself; I have GTR Ultra 2 LEDs in mine; my 2014 Accord EX-L Coupe is not CanBus.
@ DIY: CarModz I have a 2013 Honda Accord Coupe LX- Sport and im wanting to do the same as you did but I was told that the low beam is H11. What are the bulb sizes you bought and what brand? Thanks!
Low Beam is H11.. DRL is 9006 aka HB4.. Fog is H8.. Parking lights is 194 aka T10.
www.driveaccord.net/forums/showthread.php?t=138458
I have a 2015 accord LX. Would I need an led wire harness to do this?
no it is the same for 2013 - 2015 non v6 model.
Hi, could you post a link for (blue) DRL/High beam LED bulb.
The links in the comments below not longer work. Thanks
+chrisung93 hello I have a video about it..
with 2015 do Hids work with drl and high beams
+MAssivetrusett simple short answer will be no. HID should not be used as DRL or highbeam
It is so hard to remove the old bulb from the socket.. Any advice from you?
press the bulb down and then turn.. like your opening a medicine bottle.
were your headlights on at all at the ending or were those just purely the DRL/highbeams?
At the very end. it shows the highbeam/drl light.
DIY: Car Modz so at 3:50 those are just the DRLs?
***** nvm i'm dumb, figured it out thanks.
Where could I get a bulb the same size as yours? I have been looking everywhere but I can't find the 9005 6v.
This is what I would try if I had to buy something today: www.ebay.com/itm/40W-CREE-LED-4800LM-6000K-Car-BIKE-LED-Headlight-Kit-Bulb-9005-9006-H8-H11-H4-H7-/141328681076?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20e7d88874&vxp=mtr
If I have two 35W hid kits (One for my fogs, and one for my low beams). Would it affect anything if I put the 40W Cree Leds as my drl? I don't want to order them and have one of my hid kits short out.
It will be fine. No problems.
can you show me how to remove the 2 clip on the right side and how to clip it back?
+Han Lin ruclips.net/video/1ORHIgP8x9Y/видео.html
+DIY: Car Modz thank you!! you're awesome for creating a new video just for me.
where did you buy drl from ? can you send me link ....can these fit my 2015 accord sport ?
+Sucha Singh I have a video about it in my chanel. I bought them from opt-7
do 9005 Led bulbs 2013 14 and 15 work Drl and high beams????
+MAssivetrusett Yes, for those non led drl strip accord. The 9005 bulb functions both as DRL and Highbeam.
And this is white color right ?
Yes the color is white.
thx man , will order these today
Hey bro can you give the link for this LED bulbs?
The led bulb on this video is discontinue. Look at the newer drl/highbeam led bulb from Lasfit. I did a product review on them. Video Review here and the product link is in the description of all my videos: ruclips.net/video/bQVAyZdZHSg/видео.html
would it be the same thing for 2015 si
Get this : amzn.to/2hb9EAt and your car is going to need this to fix the DRL error light on the dash: amzn.to/2h9fgbx
I installed led on my Honda but now, I have interference on my FM radio signal. What could be? Thanks
Poor
AM or FM radio reception or interference
-Check the vehicle battery condition first.
-Check for any radio frequency modulators that are plugged into the FM antenna lead.
These modulators allow customers to play audio from accessories like CD players
or game consoles using the audio system, but they can create interference
issues.
-Check for aftermarket accessories plugged into the vehicle accessory power
sockets.
-Check the radio reception in an open area. Compare it to a known-good vehicle whenever
possible. Poor reception/interference can be caused by the
following:
-The radio station is far away
-Atmospheric conditions are unfavorable
-Tall buildings, mountains, or high-voltage power lines are nearby
-Electrical loads like the rear window defroster, seat heaters, game consoles, etc.
-Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
You should provide the URL for the light bulbs.
I get my bulbs locally, Sorry no website to link. And they no longer carry this led bulb that I used for the DRL. They have something a little different.. cost $90 for the pair.
DIY: Car Modz ddmtuning.com $17 shipped from China takes about two weeks
DDM tuning does not carry the DRL light bulb that is used on this video.
Just saying we're to get 9005 led bulbs
Ah thank you for the comment =)
Check this post:
www.driveaccord.net/forums/showthread.php?t=187345
Is the bulbs type 9005 HB3?
+Silva Hawk yes
How do you get to the LED strip light? I changed mine to red I want a more powerful red color
Do you mean the parking light strip?
Here is a video on how to change that on a coupe:
2013 2014 Honda Accord Coupe Parking light bulb replacement
FYI, Red is not a legal color for the front lights. Don't be surprised if you get pulled over for a fix it ticket.
Yeah i kno I had blue day time running lamps before lol got a couple warnings in nyc...and I believe thats what they called you know how the Exl accords have different lights than the v6 model and tourings? my exl has regular old style day time running lamps while v6 and above have those lexus type day time running lamps
hello I mistakenly bought the size 9006, I am going to return it..
but before, does the accord uses 9006 somewhere? or should I just return it.
(it still being shipped)
+Reno GuitarPro Unfortunately, it does not. It uses HB3 AKA 9005 for the High Beams and H11 for the Lows and H8 for the fogs.
+DIY: Car Modz thank you for your fast answer. I just bought the 9005 but it doesnt say HB3 in the description. (i bought OPT7)
+Reno GuitarPro 9005 and HB3 is the same
where can I find this bulb for my 2014 Honda accord sport?
George Perez This are discontinued.
This is the type of led style bulb I would try if I had to buy something today: www.ebay.com/itm/40W-CREE-LED-4800LM-6000K-Car-BIKE-LED-Headlight-Kit-Bulb-9005-9006-H8-H11-H4-H7-/141328681076?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20e7d88874&vxp=mtr
My and my friend were arguing over this, just to save some time
headlights - puu.sh/99nFG/4edf976efa.jpg
headlights + highs - puu.sh/99nJb/73f640aa41.jpg
drl - puu.sh/99nMz/f88f1c103b.jpg
highs - puu.sh/99nNS/179d6ec702.jpg
Correct =) But the video does a poor job at showing the actual brightness of the light. They are brighter in person.
Where did u get them?
Soup Bone They don't makes these anymore. I heard people are using the 9005 2400lm leds now. Google it.
DIY: Car Modz Would these be compatible for a 2013 Accord Touring Sedan? Thanks.
www.vleds.com/shop-bulb-numbers/9005-hb3/white-led/9005-mtg2-3000lm.html
iTzOJ Yes, those will work. However, they are very expensive for what your getting.
Take a look at here: www.driveaccord.net/forums/showthread.php?t=187345
and search google for similar 9005 3000lm or higher led bulbs.
nope. just plug it in with the factory cable.
we need the link man please
+Reno GuitarPro The LED bulb I'm using has been discontinued years ago. I "heard" good things about this bulb. However, I never used it so buy at your own risk: amzn.com/B01188NZ3Q
On the light
company i ordered my kits from told me they will work the same
+MAssivetrusett Then wait until you install them. You will see why I mention.. No it will not work.
O ok they saying Drl and highs will work normal but everything im looking up is what u said sooo.... i dont get wjat they saying .... it seems pointless if they dont work at alll ..... will they even light? ???
+MAssivetrusett Yes and no . It will flicker as DRL and will no be functional as high beam. I would stay away from that company.
seems kinda silly to disable HIGH BEAMS just to have LED. I use high beam all the time, especially in very dark roads at night. Its safer. There has to be another way.
If you use/need high beam.. these are what you want. www.vleds.com/review/product/list/id/2491/category/1347/
DIY: Car Modz hello i do use my hi beam as well i try to go to this link but it doesn't work anymore any recommendations?
Yeah same here, any other suggestions?
I own a 2013 Honda Accord exl and I decided to change my headlights to led bulbs. After 2 week my headlights started flickering so I bought a new pair from a different brand. Same thing happened again. Can anybody tell me why this is happening?
B Knuckles can you link the bulb you purchased?
Thank you for replying.
here is the link www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019QZS9T8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I would like to know if they are flickering because they are cheap lights or the car is not made to handle LED lights?
Here is all the video reviews I did for the DRL/Highbeam. ruclips.net/video/ZDQoXdlktds/видео.html I have a few more led kits that I will be doing a review on once the weather clears up.
I'm currently using this for my drl/highbeam: amzn.to/2gudX9S. Also this other one is good as well: amzn.to/2fmZjS2
Do get any error codes?
+Steven Smith This car doesn't check them.. so no error codes.
+DIY: Car Modz I guess I should've said the DRL light doesn't come on? Or did you use a decoder? Thanks
This car does not check any of those lights. There are a few imports that does but not they are a few that does.. like the odyssey will throw an DRL error icon on the display. However, only VW, BMW, Audi, Mercades.. etc etc.. are the ones that through error codes.. Just a very few imports.. Accords and Civics.. not one of them.
+DIY: Car Modz okay thanks man. I was just concerned that they would flicker or somethings. The place that I'm buying them from they have a built in controller/canbus.
+DIY: Car Modz appreciate the info, I just ordered a set for my highbeams and my fog lights for 2015 Accord.
DIY: CarModz, Thanks!
www.vleds.com/9005-mtg2-3000lm.html
if i put this to drl lights, wud i be able to use it as drl, and also high beam?
So those LEDs you bought, they work fine for high beams?
"The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has recently
released a technical report finds DRLs are of practically no use, and
further admits that DRLs have negative safety consequences."
Daytime Running Lights in some cars are huge energy wasters also.
About 20 Billion tons of greenhouse gas is put into the atmosphere annually so people can drive around with their headlights on while the sun is shining brightly overhead on a 100° day.
Daytime Running Lights also cost US drivers 1.8 Billion per year in lower gas mileage.
send me link
www.driveaccord.net/forums/showthread.php?t=187345
nice video man
jejejeje parece un lada
so i purchased this
www.ddmtuning.com/product.php?II=370134
and its not working as drl lights. it comes on only as high beam.
is it supposed to like that?
How are you testing the DRL light.. did someone tell you the DRL light is out? Did you just park and check the the DRL light. If you have the side ebrake lever up the drl light will not turn on. Also it might be the DRL fuse
ohhhhh yeah i did put the side break on. its working now. thx!!
So that LED u bought works both as high beams and DRL without disabling the high beam functionality?
Those lights suck but thanks for the video
