Am I the only one that noticed, when he removed the drive from inside the case and flipped it over there was a warning about covering the breathing hole BUT the case has no hole where that one is? That case covers the hole for cooling up and I imagine it'll get overheated with use if you're doing a big move of files or such. In every photo I see blown up as large as I can, as well as this video as large as possible enlarged I see a "dot" on the case but it's not an open hole. It'd a blue LED. Hmmm.
I also noticed it and wondered why there is no hole... But this HDD is connected to my PC and I'm using it every day for my RUclips videos (4k) for storing and editing and so far haven't been any problem.
Planning to buy this for my ps4, should i? Hows the performance so far?
They really did a western digital move of having the usb interface permanently on the hard drive.

I have to ask because it's not available what RPM speed is it & it does not mention platters either? what's the shock resistance? because it must have spinning disc.
It have 5400rpm and 1TB platter technology. About shock resistance I found out that it has shock sensor, nothing more. Hope this will help you.

Almost 1 year later... how was the external hdd? Is it still working? Is the health still at 100%?
It is connected to my computer all the time. I use it every day and have had no problems with it.

Try to format it and check then if you can drag and drop.

How well does it handle 4k editing?
I'm using PC and I edit my 4K YT videos from this HDD but my PC is slow and video is lagging - Intel Core i5-7400 CPU @ 3.00GHz, 16GB RAM, Radeon RX 580. So I can't tell how good is this HDD for video editing but I think it's not bad.
I bough one but it is going too slow, max 20 bytes, and most of the time is not even on 1 byte/s, what can I do?
I would guess that your PC USB port is damaged, try to connect in other USB port or other PC, try another USB cable. If the speed does not improve then the hard disk is most likely damaged.

Advance is newer model, it have password protection, auto-backup software but everything else I think are the same (speed and size).

Yes I still use it every day. It's connected to my PC. Sorry but I don't know what the difference between them, probably HDTB520 is newer model so i would take it.
problem is that permanent sata usb connector you can not switch them if the controller goed bad same on portables wd drives only a few seagate portables have a standard usb sata connector And always store your data on 2 drives at the same time because portables have an even higher error rate then 3.5 drives actually you should always use 2 or 3 drives for mirror to be save

Try this:
If you recently plugged in an external hard drive and downloaded games onto you might have set it as your main hard drive for steam to download on.
-Go to Steam Settings
-Downloads
-Click Steam Library Folders
-Then Rightclick the directory your main hard drive / SSD is located
-Press Default Folder.
-Done, Download games again.
OR
Open steam as admin and then try to download

I don't use Amazon so I don't know what to do, but probably you need return it. In your account need to be "return request" button or something like that.
How did you change the speed ?
The speed varies depending on which USB port your computer has - USB2.0 or USB3.0. Usually USB3.0 is blue color and USB 2.0 is in black color.

I don't feel any difference for storing music, videos and other files. Toshiba HDD I use for video editing, before that I used WD and I don't feel any different.

@@truefacts6830 yes . Just bought 3.0 wire from computer shop and everything works. On original wire was written 3.0 , but on box 3.2 .. so weird and didnt worked. Just bougt wire where on box was written 3.0 and now everything works. So so weird 😑😅

try to put a magnet on ssd spinn hdd. best copy important stuff to M-disk cd-r rw-bdxl 128gb and mini cd dvd rw . ram disk. and portable sd cards. IT wold maybe surrive but spin disk would go gaga. ssd disk may surrive sine its better protected. ssd disk drop vs spin disk hB /dd. hybrid ssd spin disk

I buy it the same hard disk and i insert it in my pc .i transfered some of my games likely 30 GB in parts (5GB in every part) .Thén i took my laptop and tried to transfer a game Size 25Gb in the hard disk .thé copying was estimated to finish in likely 30 minutes in a download rate (5mb-12mb /s) i waited thén suddenly It droped to 0mb/s thén thé Transfer crashed 😭thé problème that thé hard disk ISnt allow me go Transfer anything in a error i think 0x8000...idk thén It started giving a noise 😭Can you Help me thé problème was 2 Times thé first was thé same thén WE buy another and thé same problème .i was too upset and sad can you Help me Now thé hard disk doesnt show the free Space in "Computer app" ans when i enter It It slowly start searching in thé Up green loading search Infinity .even i only putted a 80GB files
