I don't give a toss what gender he prefers to be known as, Richard O'Brien is a wonderful, special, very funny and extremely talented guy who millions of people would kill to have a creative brain like his! He wrote a play nearly 40yrs ago which is still going strong all over the world, and THAT is what I call talent and he will always be the MASTER in my eyes :D
I remember watching the Rocky Horror Picture Show when I was 11 as my best mates older sister had it on VHS tape! We watched it continuously throughout the summer holidays and learnt every word, song and dance move till we all knew it off by heart. Now I'm 47 and I still watch it, sing it, dance it - everyone's part and I still love it every bit as then, if not more. It never leaves you and it becomes a part of you. Rock on everyone and thanks to Richard O' Brien for giving us this masterpiece to us all! Thanks for this clip.
I totally agree. Everyone born on this planet counts regardless of eye color, skin color or sexual orientation. There are so many other horrors in this world, prejudices based on things one has no control over should be no more worrisome than a cloudy day. Richard rocks and I for one am glad he was born. Male, female, or both.
My wife and I live not so far from Richard O'Brien and not that I am not trying to bask in his reflected glory, we have both met Richard at Waihi Beach and found him to be charming and very unpretentious. He is a very intelligent and witty man and a real pleasure to meet. He has done a great deal for NZ charities. Regardless of his sexuality, he is a super person!
Richard O'Brien you are the best you created a masterpiece me and my brother love that movie because I can leave I was 6 years old when I first saw it my brother was seven my mom was mad that he had found that movie in her drawer till this day me and my brother still watch The Rocky Horror Picture Show and sing the song
What a man. He is manlier than 98% of men, where the only exception is Arnold Schwarzenegger (who accounts for at least 2% of men). I love rocky horror picture show, and it will be my guilty pleasure for the rest of my life.
just watched rocky again for the first time in a while times when I'm thinking I'd like to watch something but have nothing in mind and go thru the dvd collection reacting to each one with "seen it enough for now" when I get to the Rocky dvd all I remember is that I know all the scenes and all the songs and so I'd best wait a while but then come the times I plug it in and having seen it & remembering it just doesn't matter the music is great and the faces the cast make carry me laughingright on through with never a bored moment. truly one of the most rewatchable movies I've seen. having just watched it; now I'm missing the live audience participation party I know we can't have it all, of course, but some times just feel like ... why not? so anyway. that's not what I stopped in here to say. All I really wanted to say was Thank You Richard O'Brien for this delicious gift that keeps on giving
So happy to finally be able to comment on this video after much exhausting activity in the "Let Richard O'Brien be a New Zealand Citizen!" Facebook group. INDULGE! if you're a fan of all five to six of your senses, in sound and vision of exquisite perfection that permeates all other faculties of your mind, body and spirit. Such is the affect of Richard O'Brien on connoisseurs of the human body, voice, skin, of music, love and passion in it's most potent form.Richard here again unrivalled.*sigh*
I don't care either about his gender or personal things like that. People are people and should be allowed to be themselves. I think he is brilliant. Rocky Horror was fantastic and I have seen him in other things and he always gives a great performance. I liked him in Dark City. Rif Raf is one of my favorite characters. He is funny too.
@AceOfHeart2012 I completely agree! Without him there would have been this big chunk of my life that would be missing. I have become greatly attatched to the RHPS and I thought it was the best thing in the world until I heard Richard O'Brien speak, he's just wonderful!
almost a bit surreal for me, I never knew he was transgendered but somehow things just makes sense given how he created Rocky Horror. Btw: for someone 70 years old he's looks good for his age
Ernest Hemingway's son, Gregory, was like that himself. He outwardly lived as a male, but he had a sex-change operation and would sometimes dress and call himself, Gloria.
I don't care what gender he prefers to call himself, Richard O'Brien will always be a fantastic and brilliant human being to me. A million Hollywood screenwriters couldn't come up with something a thousandth of the genius, originality, and courage of Rocky Horror. And Shock Treatment was great as well.
This isnt that long ago and he says "Im almost 70" which is true because he was born in 1942 and is 69. I cant believe how young he looks for his age. Amazing
big fan but ive never been around that thinks that lowly of women lol. where does he come up with this shit lol. i think hes projecting his own insecurities onto women.
Richard looks like he's trying so much less to be something he's not in his outfit, compared to the interviewer with his comedy moustache and jacket. Strange.
"I said to my brother when I was 6 years old that I wanted to be a fairy princess when I grew up, and well, look at me now I'm a full blown queen!"
I've had every...single...song from the movie stuck in my head for 3 weeks now. The songs are so amazingly catchy I just can't get over them!
Lord Zizumias of all the music to be addicted to Rocky Horror couldn't be a better choice!!!

There's no words for how much I admire this person. Richard is my inspiration.

Always wanted to apply to be a contestant on The Crystal Maze when Richard was presenting it.

Richard O'Brien helped make the world safe for people like you and me

I am in love with this man.
Almost 70 years old? You look barely 45 and you are astonishely beautiful.

he actually made me realize some things about me...many thanks to the open mind and open conversational gifts of monsieur o brien
I swoon at the sound of his sound. He is uniquely intelligent. Talented, and exudes a certain rare quality of warmth. I love him!

one of my favorite human beings to ever grace this planet. i love you, ritzy!

Sexuality has nothing to do with it, this man is a genius.
Loved his voice♥He has gone to a distant planet.
I can't get over how good he looks.
If only we all could look that fantastic at 70!
I love you, Richard.

All my life I've been a fan of rhps....and I never knew this about him!
Is he immortal or? I mean he looks younger than me and I'm only 19
Queens know how to moisturize!
WONDERFUL. THANKS FIONA.
Oh my God, Love him!!!!
Well, look at me now, I`m a full blown queen. I love him so much. The amount of respect I have for him is hard to explain.
He's so Awesome :)
almost a bit surreal for me, I never knew he was transgendered but somehow things just makes sense given how he created Rocky Horror. Btw: for someone 70 years old he's looks good for his age
Ernest Hemingway's son, Gregory, was like that himself. He outwardly lived as a male, but he had a sex-change operation and would sometimes dress and call himself, Gloria.
Way ahead of his time
Now I know Richard O'Brian is transgender I love him even more.
He reminds me a little bit of Freddie Mercury in interview. Both are(were) brilliant people
he will always be GULNAR to me - my childhood trauma.NOTHING IS EVER FORGOTTEN!
I love this guy
Very clever man.
Awesome guy! His genius was way ahead of its time. Even at this time he's discussing things we're just now addressing as a society.
I've got one thing to say and that's: dammit, Janet, I love you!
70? Damn, not a day over 30 for me!
That's so true! "Well, hellllooo!"
thank you :)
This isnt that long ago and he says "Im almost 70" which is true because he was born in 1942 and is 69. I cant believe how young he looks for his age. Amazing
he looks wonderful!!!!
Can't believe he is seventy remember him on crystal maze still looks same now.
Where is that bronze statue of Riff?
206 Victoria Street, Hamilton, New Zealand. It's a bit hard to see on google maps as from the closest spot it's behind a lamppost. :)
Me watching in 24 june 2020
Great artist! Love his films. Don't care about his personal life as it has nothing to do with the quality of his work.
Genius.
I never thought I'd see skinny jeans on a 70 year old man. (Well maybe Mick Jagger)
i love you, you are great
Dang! He looks pretty freaking good for a man his age
@JoshSitar he still looks very very similar, last time I saw him, he was in a frock with the very same necklace and rocked that look!
Seems a brilliant guy. Wonder how mumsy is lol?
He's not gay...he's been married 3 times, each time to a woman.
Hayri2011 so was Elton John in case you'd forgotten
@JoshSitar absolutely
No way is this man 70 years old. Unless he's a vampire. Is Richard a vampire? Meh, wouldn't surprise me.
it's lawrence fletcher D:
what's the name of the song playing before the interview, i like that jazzy sound.
In what year was this made? Does he really still look that good?
Mr. Hand :)
What Year is this from?
big fan but ive never been around that thinks that lowly of women lol. where does he come up with this shit lol. i think hes projecting his own insecurities onto women.
@Fionakiwi he won't :( its called revenge of the old queen
Richard looks like he's trying so much less to be something he's not in his outfit, compared to the interviewer with his comedy moustache and jacket. Strange.
I also find myself coming out / transitioning later in life
riff raff was gay?!?
>doing womanface
>complain about misogyny
pick one 🤗
