For ledge trapping, remember that limit blade beam hits ledge if your opponent waits too long to pick a get up option same thing with the last hit of limit CS on some characters. If limit isn't on deck, you can dair on stage if timed correctly or dtilt. Doing these usually conditions them to pick an option fast so you'll know the timing of their get up options. Great video :)
@@Cheeseburger-C17its like prolly one of the best like top 10, being able to do 18%, being able to switch them up by not up-bing again after the first, and the limit being able to kill it at 110% if the first hitbox hits
8:43 another great way to mix up recovery is to use side b 1 (cross slash 1) to stall in the air. It can leave you vulnerable but it's a great way to stall while someone is waiting to punish your landing and throw them off
@@TheSwooj lol thats the same mentality behind why people think captain falcon shouldve got buffed before cloud. "Cloud shouldnt get buffed because falcon isnt"
_wave he means that we don’t even have an Alt skin for Bowser, one of Nintendo’s most famous and iconic villains. So why would we have one for Cloud Strife from Square Enix? They only gave 2 music tracks, you think they’d give Zack just like that?
I mean they got every single hero from Dragon Quest even though no one knows who the hell most of them are, and like 10 Fire Emblem characters. Final Fantasy prints more money than both of those franchises combined.
Another thing I'd add to recovery is that if your opponent sends you offstage and you're close enough to double jump to the ledge, using up B pretty much right as you get in ledge grab range is a good way to help protect yourself from people who are fishing for a 2 frame. It's small but it basically allows him to mix up by grabbing the ledge a lot quicker than most characters could by just jumping towards it.
With the new buffs UpB to ledge is easier. Limit charging is better (way easier off stage to save you) the other tips are good still. Add up smash out of shield, up smash out of parry and run up up smash. It’s awesome. Dash kills and punish is even better. Cloudmainsriseup!!

I only have one thing to say about using Limit Cross Slash at ledge. If you are going to contest a jump back onto stage from ledge. You have to be careful because limit cross slash takes 6 frames to become invulnerable. Meaning anything faster than 6 frames will come out faster than it and waste your limit. Mario and Yoshi's neutral airs will beat it. Sonic's forward air and up air will beat it. Cloud's own neutral air will beat it. Etc. It's honestly better just to bait the jump. Then either punish them when they panic air dodge. Or just wait on the ground and spot dodge when they try to attack you and punish with Finishing touch. Even if they don't attack they are screwed because of landing lag.
Jtails I reccomend you upload videos of you criticing gameplay from your viewers that send it to you. It will help many players see bad habits and see things they should go for.
Hi Jtails nice video but I have a few question. - Can the finishing touch cover the classic getup and the roll at the same time or not ? - Is it really usefull to use your limit to cover one option at the ledge as you can cover at least 2 option with the fair, nair, down smash (which are even more usefull when limit is active because Cloud is faster) ? Wouldnt be better to cover with those option, hit the opponent and using the limit to punish vertical recovery with reverse neutral b just below the ledge ? Thanks for your tip there are very usefull have a nice day !
Finishing touch is too slow to ever really catch your opponent neutral getup but maybe roll you gotta lab that one but landing against neutral getup is impossible since the move has slow startup and bad range
At the same time no. Roll is easier to react to so maybe keep it in mind for that. Also only go for finishing touch at the right percentage. It does no damage
Hi jtails!! Could u please add weaknesses, like tell how opponents can exploit weaknesses of the character you are explaining. I would appreciate it. Thanks!!
He sort of did. Watch if the player sweet spots ledge and punish accordingly. I'll add my own. Cloud players hate when you pressure them off stage or otherwise. You don't play the bad ass anime sword guy to be defensive, and the only strong defensive move is up b but if up b whiffs there's a large punish window when he lands or is sent into free fall
@@joelsvideoblog clouds frame data is unique to this game because of his smash4 nerf so your not missing anything. Really everything else just comes from shielding poorly spaced aerials and he has a gimpy grab that goes nowhere. Anything else just should be intuitive if you fight against the character often enough. All of his moves are punishable if he's close to you but if he hits with the edge of the blade they are safe except maybe fair. Also learn to parry his swings. He's one of the easiest characters to parry because fair and dair have lingering hit boxes and most moves are telegraphed very clearly in his animations. I've edited this comment like 6 times now so hopefully you can do with getting those things down while waiting for a video like that to come out
Be careful when using clihmhazzard (up b) above as if his sowrd doesn't fully touch the ledge he will fall right down it is something thay need to fix as no other character with that up b dose that
Hit with the second half of dash attack, then quickly input dash forward, c-stick backwards, and jump. You want to set L or R to jump to do the input easier. I dunno if you can use smash c-stick, but tilt works. If you do it fast enough DK will turn around and bair right after the dash attack hits. Only works at low% obviously.
You could also rar(running into turnaround jump), turnaround jump(turn to the left and jump), or irar(dashing into turnaround jump) depending on how far the opponent is launched and it better hit with the strong hit of dash attack because it adds more hitstun
watch my palutena video that's coming out, it explains the same situation off her down throw. basically do the dash attack and already hold opposite direction to cause a turn around.
At first I wondered if this is helpful even though Cloud is only a secondary of mine but then the first advice was "use up B out of shield" so I knew I don't have to watch this one
Something I would like to add (but is pretty obvious) is to NEVER GO OFFSTAGE AS CLOUD. His recovery is no better than little Mac. Cloud’s spikes are also garbage with a small hitbox. You also have no point in wasting limit up b just for an edgeguard (which like I said) that isn’t too helpful.
Complete lie cause cloud edgeguarding is rly good. He can catch jumps with bair and low recovers with bair also, nair a good quick option to edgeguard or to cover yourself when going offstage against the opponent and dair can two frame and is hitbox is rly good for a spike and comes out quick
MMSrenekton Everything you have mentioned can be done by almost every other character (and can do it much better). Every character has a good bair and most of them can be used for the same purpose. Nair has a small hitbox and chances are if the opponent has a good recovery it won’t do much. Most characters dair can two frame and you can just use limit blade beam or dash attack to 2 frame instead.
@@virtualgamer673 first of limit blade beam and dash attack aren't reliable 2 frame options but good at hanging opponents hanging at ledge and also if every other char has these options it shows that cloud can edgeguard and you shouldn't look at him as never being able to go offstage cause he can and good at it with his disjoints and long reach also you get more reward off dair 2 frame, easier to land, and comes out much faster
MMSrenekton The difference between him and other characters is Cloud doesn’t have the tools to back him up. Cloud has small disjoints (Some hitboxes don’t even or barely cover the whole sword) and a very bad recovery. As I said every other character can do his same job and do it far better. When you compare Cloud to Link there is a large difference. Link has a better recovery, larger disjoints and projectiles that can all combo or edgeguard. If Cloud had similar or better options he would currently be top tier.
@@virtualgamer673 you forget his fair spike is uniquely way in front of him catching any high recoveries. The point is don't SD but pressuring the very ledge itself is a cloud specialty.
