I am a Porsche guy and have kept my Honda S2000 so sometimes I watch Honda stuff. This is a great build, respect the attention to detail and creativity of this fine machine. Great video !
Steve was very helpful in knowing about the Elements. Been looking for a month and did know all the AWD had the moonroof. Good to know makes my search much easier.
Steve knows no other engineer could make a better conversion system than Fifth Element does. I camp from a motorcycle, so minimalism is a must. I'm still in the research before purchase stage on camping from a vehicle. Steve comes across as a thoughtful engineer (more than a nutty professor). Rooftop tents cut MFG on vehicles- once they are installed most owners don't remove them- a lot like cab over slide in pick up truck campers. Best video I've seen of the hundreds I've watched.
@johnsikessikes5404 Thanks for the thoughtful comment! I completely agree-Steve’s engineering and attention to detail with the Fifth Element system are unmatched. Motorcycle camping definitely teaches you a lot about minimalism, and it sounds like you're really diving deep into your research for vehicle camping. I think you'll appreciate how versatile the Fifth Element system is, especially if you're trying to keep things streamlined and functional. Hope you follow us for more of Steve's creative thought process-our next video will take you into his shop to see where the magic happens!
Sleeping in the back of my Element, with my head to the rear. I looked up and was amazed by the view of the stars through the moon roof. I like the flat floor with a sleeping pad.
There was no mention of the roof rack between the awnings. Just wondering what make of roof rack Steve has and is it on the original Honda Element roof bars
@ReadySetElement I'm going on almost a month. It has some minor things going on but I crawled under it and looked for any rust and nothing suspension wise was rusted.
Did he make that cupboard and chair setup? Looks like the fifth element camper. Trying to find a similar cut pattern to make one for my element on my router
I bought a 06 Honda Element in WI several months ago.... unfortunately I trusted the SA dealer, small independent dealership) and they sold me an overpriced auto with a rusted out frame, the trailing arm is severely rusted. Any one that can advise me or give me info about the possibility of getting this fixed? PLEASE let me know. Thank you. Frannie
Hi Frannie, I'm so sorry to hear about your experience with the dealership and the rust issues on your Honda Element. That sounds really frustrating! I'd recommend reaching out to a trusted mechanic or body shop for a thorough inspection. They can give you a better idea of what your options are for repairs. You might also want to consider contacting Honda directly or visiting an authorized dealership for assistance. Hopefully, they can help you find a solution. Hang in there, and let me know if there's anything else I can do to help!
I've thought not long and hard about getting an element. I love how versatile and spacious they are for their size. Are they really a hassle to keep up with? I don't like hearing the word "unobtainium". Makes it sound like not a smart investment.
Nice guy, nice car. Didn’t want to be rude, but I wonder what happened to his fingers. Hope everything is good. I miss my Element. Wish Honda make something similar in the future but we’ll see
Hi @rcinematic 👋 I have never asked myself however giving his very extensive history in fabrication I'm sure things happen. Thanks for watching we appreciate you hope you join the Ready Set Element family 😁
Had no idea this was a thing but makes sense. Toyota and Honda have to merge the Element and the FJ and come out with the ultimate Japanese off-roader.
I'm looking also- having hard time with sticker shock, too. Not many 13 to 21 year old vehicles can justify price. Once cash is in hand will need to negotiate for the right one.
If he planning on keeping honda Element, he needs to invest in an open roof camper that he can stand in and sleep on the roof from inside of honda i seen many people with these
"Unobtainium," BTW, is a real word for something that doesn't actually exist and has been used since the 1950s, including in a recent movie called "The Core." There is even a company in my town, Vallejo, California, called Unobtainium Works that makes very interesting vehicles.
@@fortyseven1832 shows they have been enjoyed by the previous owners. I feel your frustration it took us about a year of searching until we found our blue.
I hate light bar in the rain. Thank you for blinding my eyes. That’s a child ad on. Low miles doesn’t use it for camping much if ever. Like to see this guy stand up while camping. I would rather spend the night in a tent then in that. But to each their own.
I could not finish watching this guy, in one comment he said the 07 had a better motor and then a few minutes later he said the 08 had a better motor. The truth is from the beginning till 2011 when they stopped making the element. It had 166 hp same motor. It was built on the same platform as the CRV except that in 2010 the CRV‘s horsepower went up. Elements horsepower did not go up 166. Second thing is it’s not an all-wheel-drive vehicle. It’s a real time four-wheel-drive, all-wheel-drive means that there is power going to all four wheels, real time four-wheel-drive is it is a front wheel drive vehicle traction is lost in the front And then it transfers 50% power to the rear wheels therefore being a real time four-wheel-drive. Check the fax before you start putting it out on the Internet.
Honda missed the boat. What were they thinking canceling the Element. The trend was moving more and more to crossovers, SUV's and overlanders. And the later on the Pilot simply got dorky stupid looking and cheap meterals. And Toyota sadly canceled the FJ and today it still has a following. Yet Toyota still had the Tacoma, 4Runner, Sequia and Land Cruiser, Tundra etc....
I picked up a SEMA trade magazine- overlanding accessory mfg has taken over from the hot rodding performance mfg. Low sales numbers cancelled the Element & FJ. Were 10 years ahead of their time.

I would love to talk with him about his experience putting hand controls in cars.
What a cool guy! Ultimate Dad vibes lol. Love the support he gets from his wife, amazing!
Hi @dennith7907 👋
He's super chill and it is pretty cool his wife supports his Element journey.
This man is the neighbor you want to have around.
Thank you for sharing all the link to buy the parts he has.
Our pleasure! Thank you so much for watching hope to see you in the next video we share ? 😀
Steve rocks!! Genius
When he opened the hood and I saw how clean it was, I knew this was a man who would have a wonderful buildout.
Steve is officially going to be a reoccurring guest and show us his build. Since this video has has done so much more to his Element 😎

New video with Steve is out showing all the updates he's done. Wait until you see all the new things he has made 😉
When I moved to Colorado in 2006 I bought a 06 Element with a stick and AWD. Really liked that car!
I would like 2c pics on Steve’s mounting of that light bar behind the grille & his wire routing. I’ve got an ‘08 SC w/similar grille attributes.
Wow proud of you my dearest neighbor . You got all our support
He's such a genuine person 🙏
Where he get all the cabinet?you got the link? That is fantastic!
Yes of course just updated the link on the description it's from Fifth Element Camper 😊

Wish Honda would bring back old designs like the Element or the 2nd gen Fit.

Great, great job dude. Really enjoyed this video! You are a talented and patient man. Cant wait to see more of your content!
Sir this is the cleanest mini car camper I ever seen and the way I'd want mine done if I get into this trend.
The Element is actually a really cool vehicle. Man what a great build
Amazing engineering on the electrical...so cool
I met Steve in Torrance in April, I had a good long conversation with him. I hope to see everyone again in June!
Isn't he such a nice guy ? Not sure if I got to say hello to you 👋
Nice element , thanks for the share
What a great build! Thanks for showing us!
Part 2 is now out. If you thought that was great, wait until you see what else he has added to his build 😉
Wow what an amazing guy and I’m so glad you asked about his background. Does he still work on upgrading cars?
Hi @thaixgrrl 👋
Steve is awesome he is such a knowledgeable, genuine person. He does but mainly for fun, and his current element takes up his time.
I'm using the LiPO car batteries. They have a remote jump start via a remote. Works incredibly well.
I saw an Element with a pop-up roof. Im jealous of whoever owns it.
Me too, I would really want to upgrade mine and get one but it being around 10k to add on is alot. If I find a element with one that would be awesome.
Mahalo Steve & Wilson … the OZ-usabar is great prrfect fit 30
Atomic Blue 💙 😈 🤗 I have 2 Elements both are Atomic Blue 2008s. 1 EX and 1 LX, LX just turned 100,000 miles, just broken in 😂 Best cars I ever had.
Nice! Wish I could remove the rear seats from my 2007 CRV AWD (same engine?) and make a little camper out of it
Nicely done video and interview. 👏
Thank you! Steve is great in front of the camera 😁
Are the desk and the chair things you can buy?
Damn! I haven't heard anyone talk about VW synchromesh in decades
He knows so much! I learned so much from him. We are filming more videos together he has alot to showcase.

I got rid of my lexus SuV for the honda element. I love this car such a versatile vehicle
There was no mention of the roof rack between the awnings. Just wondering what make of roof rack Steve has and is it on the original Honda Element roof bars
@sgreid7 Steve actually crafted his own roof rack. Would a dedicated video be helpful on how he made it ?
Dang! What an inspiration
He got 8 fingers so I know for a fact he is a perfectionist 👏🏾
We just posted another video of his updates be sure to check it out to see all the new things he's built 😉
traded my 2008 gmc sierra for a 2007 honda element sc and i love it.
Great choice! How long have you had it for ?

It's from fifth element however he personalized it and added a few extra things into.
Is that a custom screen for the moonroof?
Very cool! Nice build
Stay tune for part 2 once he's added more things to his Element 😁

Very nice... Shame we dont get that Honda model in the UK. I have a VW T6.1 Kombi adventure van. But you dont get those in the US.
I wasn't aware the Element didn't make it to the UK I'm guessing for you guys you have to import it from Japen, which would be the best bet ?
I feel like in the UK, you have more options for cool camper.
@@ReadySetElement Yep I guess so, I Know a few import the Mitsubishi Delica from Japan to the UK
Hey, my Jeep hasn't left me broke yet.

Cool camper, ...... best part of the story is you are 70 years old and your mom calls 🙂
Awesome
I must have missed something, how does he fit in that tiny bed? He never showed how he sleep. Is the element that big in the back?
You get about 6 feet of length so there's plenty of room. We didn't show him setting up the bed fully but I will show on part 2 😎
Came to ask the same thing. Wonder if there is any room afterward for a 12V fridge in the back.
swivel seats ??? and this would be perfection
Lovely ❤
Sweet.
So that’s why I can’t find a decent - inexpensive Honda Element!

2009-2011 AWD don't have a moonroof

Agreed with these Thought. And this writer DID spend a month camping in a TENT
If you tent camp while heading to a destination it's a hassle to make & break camp daily. I motorcycle camp and that's the part I dislike the most.
