That’s a slick gadget, sure enough. When I’m sweaty in camp -which I try to avoid at my age - I use a couple of easy things. Easiest is a wet bandanna for face, neck, and arms. A more thorough procedure is baby wipes, wetted with white vinegar. I take along a handful of these dampened wipes in a sandwich bag. Maybe a couple of bags worth for longer trips? Use a few to wipe off sweat from head to toe. Then, have a good drink,of cool water. NOTE: white vinegar is anti bacterial. Cleans us up well and deodorizes without soap. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying

Interesting idea Mark, a version designed for pets might be helpful for those breeds that tend to overheat. It's a more high tech version of those cooling towels that are often used by people working out or outside in the summer
You are cooling the blood going up the main artery to your brain and the blood comming down from your head to the body. It should work well. A group leader might have one for first aid for when someone overheats.

I use a cooling cloth, which all you do is get it wet give it a shake and wrap it around your neck. The evaporation cools you down. I use them at work on the trail and even in the desert around Las Vegas and the only recharge you need is a bit of water. Cheers my friend!
If you have the electronics ability and the construction experience, you can make one for about $25. You could make one with a battery you could carry in your backpack. TEMs are cheap and the regulators are available from Amazon. A Thermoelectric Peltier Cooler can be had for a few dollars from Amazon (need 2).That is all I'll say,
I did a bit of digging on that device, and I suspect it is mostly a scam. It uses a peltier device to cool, not an air conditioner. Peltier devices use electricity to create a mild temperature gradient between each side and are about 5% efficient. Air conditioners (and fridges) use compressors and a separation between the heating and cooling portions. Compressing the gas into a liquid causes a lot of heat to be released on one side, and on the other side the liquid is allowed to expand, which absorbs heat. A thermal barrier between the two is essential for it to work, otherwise all you end up with is heat. Which is why a portable outdoor air conditioner is an absurd idea. Air conditioners are also several magnitudes more efficient than a peltier device. So while this device will produce some cooling, it will be minimal for the power usage. Honestly I just use a cobber cooler. Its a necktie with a material that turns to gel with water, and then cools by evaporation (just need to flip it to the cool side once in a while). No batteries, no plastic.
Good review, but at $150 that's really high. Also, looks like hard plastic. Would be nice to see a $45 fan only unit with screws and grills to make it easy to clean dust off blades and able to take drops, etc.
As a First Aid/Trauma Recovery device, I can see the value. I agree that it should have the capability to charge and run at the same time. Thank you for doing the review.
I use Frog Toggs chilly neck wrap, all you need is some water. It works surprisingly well. Now, I could see that as a radio/music device to wear around the neck. ✌️
Considering that a small USB neck fan or can be placed next to your head in a tent that is significantly lighter, much longer run time, costs @$20 and can run while charging, this seems a bit extravagant. Peace
I would be worried about using it in heating mode. Heat and lithium batteries can be problematic. I do think using it as a cooling device could be very beneficial in certain situations. I agree that it would be way better if it had pass through charging. I have several portable power banks, and in a power outage during a heat wave that would be awesome if it would work with an external power source. After working hard in the hot sun though sitting down for a break with a cold beverage with that around my neck would be a delightful way to cool down.
