Watched multiple reviews of this product, one by a well-known Singapore tech website too, and yours is by far the most useful. The part comparing perception of temperature to actual temperature was extremely helpful, as was the part where you explained that this doesn’t actually blow cold air into your face like an air conditioner would. Literally the first question that popped into my head when I see advertisements for these cooling element neck fans, since they always try to deceive you with photos depicting cool icy blue air blowing out the vents. Tsk tsk. Thanks for the informative video. Look forward to more thorough reviews from your channel.
Thank you for your kind words and valuable feedback! It's both helpful and encouraging to know. I will shoot more reviews that give my honest take rather than the usual marketing hype.
Thanks for the battery test time lapse! Your teaser factored into my decision to get one and I'm loving it. I'm in a really humid region and sweat just doesn't evaporate for me. So far this really helps keep down my level of sweat going to and from the car
If this cools not just the back of the neck but the side of the neck where there are blood vessels, it could give you the illusion of being cool and slightly lower your body temperature as well. From what I understand cold on the back of the neck = illusion of being cool. Whereas cold on the sides of the neck on the blood vessels = being cooler for real.
Thanks for the suggestion! While I don't have an Aice 3 yet to do a detailed comparison, I do mention it in my latest review of the Coolify 3 at: ruclips.net/video/1qDPlf_caB4/видео.html
Got this coolifiy 2s a few days ago and put the app on my phone after coming back to it 4 days later to try it out Cus I’ve been busy , omg it’s fantastic this will help me during the hot flushes I do have the black and white Torras coolifiy with one semiconductor for the back of the neck which is great through the winter but when it’s really hot in summer my flushes get Considerably worse in the hot summer and this is when that will come in handy. So glad I got it worth every penny. Also the app is fantastic as I can control it from my phone the first thing I did was to remove that Annoying, ping sound every time you switch from one setting to the other😂
Thanks for watching! I'm glad the Coolify fits your needs perfectly. And totally agree with that ping sound, good thing they made it removable for us frequent users.
I wish I saw your review before purchasing Coolify 2S. All the other reviewers seem bought by Torras. They do not say it does not work outside. It only blows hot air back onto you. This is what ive experienced with mine. Indoors it works okay since the air is already cool however the minute you go outside the cooling pads cant keep up they turn orange and the fans blow hot air back on you.
bought the limited edition amazon August 2022 higher battery life etc, start up. conditions at room temp I was not hot. I put it on and very cool for a few minutes then neutral temp then the exhaust warm air got me sweating.. just remember what you learn in school inverse temperatures if something is getting cool, then equally something else is getting hot . I took it off and stopped sweating right away. good concept but not quite there yet....
Certain parts of the device do feel warm to the touch especially when cooling mode is on full blast, but I didn't get the same experience as you with hot exhaust coming out. I wonder if anything is blocking your in/out vents that might be slowing the air flow and causing heat build up. Or worse, a faulty fan. I would contact support just in case it might be a bad unit.
Yeah that doesn't sound right to me OP. I would get in touch with Torras. And regarding your comment on what we learned in school, that's the whole point of the technology in this device - the Peltier effect. Go do some research on it, it's fascinating.
I have an important question, can this run while charging? If so this would be great for my job which is indoors but gets hot in the afternoon. I could extent the battery life to several hours with battery packs if it will run while charging. If you could test it and post back that would be awesome.
@@chinitopinoy1726 Thanks for replying back. I actually just bought a Coolify 2 and got it in yesterday. I tested that out immediately and just as you said it doesn't run while charging. Bet I could get it to do so if I swapped out a control board inside from a used/ damaged( but not broke completely) 2S. On the upside of things, I found a video of a teardown of this device, I could somewhat easily swap out the battery packs out for far better ones too.
Great quality video. The audio seems a lil muted but overall i am impressed and look forward to being an early subscriber to your channel. Thanks for this review.
The manufacturer's website says the maximum battery life when cooling is 3 hours (torraslife.com/product/coolify-2-special-edition-neck-air-conditioner). I could test it to be 100% sure, but based on my other battery tests in the video, the tested results turn out to be equal or sometimes even better than what the official specs are. So I think it's fair to say the 3 hours should be accurate.
I no longer have the products available to weigh and answer yourer, I believe it was slightly heavier due to the increased battery capacity. Also, the carbon fiber was more like a finish that resembles carbon fiber, rather than actual carbon fiber, so there was no decrease in weight there. From what I remember, the difference in weight was so small and insignificant when wearing them that I didn't mention it in the review. question. Hope that helps.
Hello Abe, sorry for the late reply. I only have the special edition on hand right now, weighed it and got 14 ounces. This is 1 ounce heavier than the 13 ounces official manufacturer's advertised spec for the regular version with the smaller 4000mah battery. Hope this helps. Later when I get the regular version back from a friend who has borrowed it for a trip, I will weigh both of them using the same scale, which should give us the best answer.
The beep-beep boop-boop noises already give you feedback on pressing the buttons though. I was complaining more about the plasticky tactile feel of the button, but I guess it is giving you tactile feedback in addition to the audible beeps.
Good review but dump the saving the planet thoughts. When world leaders stop travelling everywhere by private jet; people might take it more seriously. One point that different reviewers don't seem to agree on, is that the actual air temperature of the fan is reduced when using cooling mode. You state that's not the case & it's still the ambient air temperature coming through the fan?
Thanks for your feedback! Yes that's correct no "refrigeration" is being added to the air blown out by the fan. I think there may be a physics reason for this as the air is low density, there is lots of it, and it would be very energy inefficient to turn it all cold. Other reviewers might be confusing the air temperature with the windchill effect of air blowing on a sweaty face, which might further be mixed up with the signals of cold around the neck.
I can't speak to that as the last time I was in Texas was over 30 years ago and I can't remember exactly what it was like. I'm guessing very hot and humid?
Pack a lunch everyone! It's a seemingly never ending 16 minute video. Skip to the conclusion part of the video! And I heard this fan only lasts for a dismall 2 hours.
It only last for 2 hours. Turning your home ac on and off or up and down isn’t a solution because it costs more to cool the whole house down than to keep it cool. Keep trying great minds. ❤
@@kelvin_lee I got one with 3 cooling pads for like £50, but it has no built-in battery. Which is fine for me because I would only use this while on the PC. But I could hook it to a powerbank if I want to use it on the move lol Oh yea...and it can only make it cool, not hot. But I have no idea who would want to use an electronic neck warmer. Why not wear a scarf....way cheaper xD
$249 for a neck fan? Are you kidding me ? What a total waste of money, I thought this was a joke. Peltier devices are super cheap, think peltier beer fridge for $80 :) I guess it's unique anyway, but really just another way to extract cash from people lol :) nice channel though, thanks.

What technology does it use to actually cool the air?

No the fan is completely off while in heating mode

Thanks for the feedback on the audio and the sub! I now troubleshooted my mic setup so it will be better for the next video.
Could you do a battery test with it on its lowest setting with cooling on?
The manufacturer's website says the maximum battery life when cooling is 3 hours (torraslife.com/product/coolify-2-special-edition-neck-air-conditioner). I could test it to be 100% sure, but based on my other battery tests in the video, the tested results turn out to be equal or sometimes even better than what the official specs are. how does it heat you?
The same Peltier module that cools the surface of the product touching your neck can also switch to heat up that same surface.
