Welcome to my channel Crochet for Baby. In today's tutorial I will show you how to make the crystal waves crochet stitch pattern that is ideal for baby blankets, baby sweaters, baby booties, baby beanies, baby hats, baby dress, and so much more. This is the SLOW version as I was asked to re-record the original tutorial but much slower this time 😊.
This crochet stitch is named Crystal Waves Crochet Stitch after the dear friend that taught me how to make it. Her great grandmother taught her and apparently was an old stitch. I’m not the original designer of this stitch nor was she. If anyone knows who the original designer is of this beautiful stitch, please let me know to give proper credit. Thank you 😊 ❤️.
For my blanket I used Bernat softee #3 baby yarn with a 4.5mm Crochet hook. I used about 6 skeins of yarn which was about 560 grams. I made 136 chains and continued for a total of 42 rows. It measures approximately 30.5in long x 29.5in wide without the border. Border measures 1.5 in. Hope this helps for those of you that are making this blanket.
Here’s the link for the border • Easy crochet fan stitc...
For the tutorial, I 'm using a baby weight yarn as well with a 4.5mm crochet hook. The stitch multiple is 4.

This is a beautiful pattern, really perfect for babies because of no large holes for fingers and toes to get caught in. Not too heavy for unless it's over 80 degrees, and because of the texture it is heavy enough for cooler temperatures too. If layered with a receiving blanket it would be enough for very cold temperatures.
Thank you so much for making this and sharing it with the world. People like you make the world a better place for all of us.

I recently looked for a stylish but easy repeat stitch for a baby blanket, and viola, found your Crystal Waves design is perfect! I am so happy that I am able to crochet this working with a LB Ice Cream Big Scoop (mint) which has been stashed until now. I also had done the Crystal Waves baby hat a year ago, so now that will be added to this project too. And I always look forward to all of your latest designs. Thank you so much.!!

Thank you so much, I lost my crojo for long time and your video came up. I now have it back for this blanket, I am ch2 instead of 3 as I find it doesn't leave a big gap for me.

I'm so glad I found this. I ordered a pattern online and have tried doing it 3-4 times now. And no matter what the count will not come out right. I have been crocheting for about 30 years, so I know what I'm doing. And this blanket is very close to it, so I'm going to replace this blanket in the set for the other. The person I'm making this set for will never know the difference. But I will tell them I used your pattern if they want another one for the other great grandson's they are having. Total of 5 now. ❤ Thanks.

#crochetforbaby Hola! I am a new/beginner crocheter. I did not see your 'faster' tutorial on this Crystal Wave Pattern, but I enjoyed this slower version SO much. As a beginner, I found this pattern so easy to learn BECAUSE of your teaching method. I'm somewhat of a critic and notice details of Instructors. You passed on all counts. You spoke well, explained in detail, showed where to put hook...the whole tutorial was perfect and I have never enjoyed learning a new stitch like I did this one...and it was bc of your teaching. Muchos gracias Senora. I am making the blanket right now and it is enjoyable to see the stitch as it is being created. I love it. I just wanted to let you know the truth of how good this is. xoxo

I love love LOVE this pattern. Thank you so much for taking the time to redo the tutorial and making the last row straight for the edging.
This is like the c2c /corner to corner in a row pattern. The difference is the placement of the single crochet around the 3rd double crochet makin a front post to make tge wave, before the 3 chains instead of all of the stitch though the chain 3 space.

  • @katherinelewis7791

Excellent. As you speak, I write. I was unable to download the written pattern, but listening to you, and stopping my computer each time to make a row seems a greater idea than using my printer. For me. Thank you.

Love this pattern , as a 78 year old, I was very pleased with the slower version. Thank you so much for doing this for us. Is there a written pattern for this blanket? I would be happy to pay for it. Thank you!

I love this stitch and the way you taught it slowly.
I would love if you could do this again for the box stitch. I tried it and I struggle. If anyone can teach me, it’s you. ❤️
