  • In this video, I attempt to bring a 1986 Honda CB250N Super Dream back to life after it sat untouched for 37 years! This classic bike was last ridden in 1986, and now, after an extensive rebuild, it's time to find out if all the hard work has paid off.

Rye please try looking to Brick House Builds approach to unseizing brake caliper pistons by using a grease gun hydraulically to push the piston out. Note; you’ll possibly have to work a fitting from the crease gun to the caliper. Absolutely love the direction of where your channel is going. Keep up the amazing work Rye👏

I just saw that someone else had suggested a grease gun as well and you were having some issues with fitment. Like I said look to brick house builds, so maybe you could reach out to them on how they approached the fitting issue or more likely you’ll be able to surmise it by watching that section of their video. It’ll really save you a bunch of headaches and money if you can make it work. Sorry I don’t mean to beat a dead horse as the saying goes, just trying to help😂👏 P.S. The channel I was referring you to, the guy is really nice and he seems to go above and beyond to be helpful.

@@BikesofRyeI'd use a combination of the grease gun and heat ....then maybe hit it with the compressed air to shock it if necessary ( id prepare a catchment area....when extremely seized pistons finally let go , they become a high velocity dangerous projectile, know this from personal experience 🙄)

You could have got all those parts powder coated in a chrome finish, ive seen videos about it on youtube and it looks impressive.
A good tip for replacing the collector box gaskets on Hondas of that era,and other bikes which use sleeve gaskets is to do an ebay search for 'graphite motorcycle exhaust gasket' of the correct size and you can save quite a few £s over the original items.
Back in the 80's - early 90's when i owned a few CX500s i would use car exhaust bandage wrapped around the joint of the collector box whenever a gasket needed replacing, then slide the silencer over the joint and tighten the clamp,it always worked a treat.
I always used the type of exhaust bandage that had to be soaked in water before use,but i dont think that type is sold now.

2 points I would like to make. First when turning over the engine I would have left the spark plugs out so that it would have spun over easier. Secondly the 250 was geared the same as the 400 which make it too higher geared. Put a front sprocket one tooth large on the front and it will pull much better. I've done this on severel bikes in the past. Good luck 👍
