This is why I love your channel! You’re always introducing me to old games I missed out on as a kid or reminding of games I rented or played over at friend’s house and had forgotten about. I never knew there was a Rescue Rangers 2!!!

"Doug's lifelong love Patti Mayonnaise 🤓: 10:01 um, aCkShUlLy, Doug is from Bloatsberg. He moved to Bluffington in the pilot episode of "Doug," where he then met Patti Mayonnaise for the first time. Therefore, she is not his "lifelong" love. - a Doug nerd

I have to agree Ducktales on the NES is a perfect game. Great video!

The only Disney related video game I knew growing up was Mickey Mousecapade. It wasn't until RUclips that I found out that these games were made. I don't remember seeing any at Toys R Us. Even the Mickey Mouse game I remember only seeing at a rental store. As for my favorite cartoon itself that was Chip n Dale. Mostly because of the humor in it. I'm a big fan of comedy.

Talespin on the NES was hurt by the upgrade system they put in. By the end of the game your plane could do everything you want but getting there was a pain. Also the game did have some amazing graphics for the NES in the later levels

Gargoyles the cartoon was just perfection. If you aren't reading the comics then you need to track them down. The SLG and Dynamite comics are written by Greg Wiseman the creator of the cartoon and pick up right were season 2 left off.
I do agree about the Gargoyles on the Genesis. I wanted to love that game but it just doesn't do much. I keep trying to play it and just have to put it down without getting very far. The remastered version is better. It is a little easier and it makes smash-able wall/floors more obvious.
One of my earliest memories of gaming is playing Rescue Rangers on a PC. Mom would play it with me. We would take turns playing a stage. We died a lot.

There's a third Bonkers game, Bonkers: Wax Up!, released in 1994 for the Sega Game Gear as part of Sega's "Sega Club" line of games aimed at children under twelve, around the same time as the Bonkers Sega Genesis game. The goal of the game is for Bonkers to explore a haunted mansion for clues so that he can find Madame Whosaid, who has captured Lucky and is holding him prisoner. It also recieved a Master System port in Brazil in 1995.
There's also a third TaleSpin game; TaleSpin for the TurboGrafx-16, released in 1991 by Interactive Designs. It's often seen as the bottom of the barrel when it comes to TaleSpin games, as despite sporting better graphics than the Genesis game, it's bogged down by atrocious controls, severely faulty collision detection, and all-around uninspired gameplay, all faults it shares with the even more notorious Darkwing Duck game released on the same system the following year.

The Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers games are my favorites followed slightly by the Ducktales games then Goof Troop. Though I still think a Rescue Rangers platformer where you could switch between all five Rescue rangers with each having different attacks and abilities would have been incredible. I don't think either Talespin game is great but I prefer the NES game because I feel a Plane shoot em up suits Talespin a lot better then a platformer does.

I've never understood why the NES sequels always get such a lukewarm reception. Rescue Rangers 2 was a phenomenal sequel. But Duck Tales 2 was even a better sequel. Duck Tales 2 was an upgrade in so many ways over the original Duck Tales, which don't get me wrong, was a great game too. In Duck Tales 2: Scrooge's Cane interacted with the world in a multitude of ways. It was a pogo stick, a grabber to move items, a hammer, and a hook to hang from things in the levels. Collecting money was so much more important because there was a store in the game that allowed you to make upgrades to your cane. The upgrades to the cane allowed you to access parts of levels that were previously inaccessible. Unlike the last game, you can replay levels, and because of the cane upgrades that allow you to access new places in the level, it's an essential part of the game that adds depth and strategy to each level. There are hidden pieces of a treasure map in each level, encouraging exploration, because finding all the pieces unlocks a bonus area in one of the levels and leads you to the hidden treasure reward.
The only place where I think Duck Tales 2 isn't an improvement over the original is in the music department. The music is decent, but not nearly as epic as the original game.

The cane usage in DT2 for me just never felt fully polished - it added unnecessary precision platforming to sections of the game in order to grab and hang, and the cane usage to pull things from the walls didn't really feel - to me, to be clear - like it really added anything to the game beyond having an extra gameplay mechanic for the sake of having an extra gameplay mechanic. The levels never really felt special or interesting to me, even with all the additional exploration options. They felt very bog standard and never felt unique. There's a reason I called out the Scotland level - it's the only one that really felt special to me. And you're 100% spot on with the music.
Now - that diatribe aside - It's not a bad game by any stretch of the imagination, it's just not a game that ever really connected for me to quite the level the first one did. A lot of that has to do with the fact that it wasn't something I ever played as a kid because of rarity, so there's no nostalgic tie to me.
But I do agree on Rescue Rangers 2. :) Thank you so much for watching, even if we do disagree on DT2. :)

Of the games I've played, you and I are exactly on the same wavelength. I had forgotten you would have to play DW on TG16 for this video... I'm so sorry!
You should also look at the Game Boy versions of some of these. You might like the port of DW more, and DuckTales 2 on GB is slightly different from the NES version.

They remastered Gargoyles? What a waste. The first Chip n' Dale deserved it so much more. They can get to Gargoyles when others have proven successful enough to go back to the mediocre titles.
