    Great video. Takes the mystery out of all this... I may just have to try it out.

    I may not be able to afford a $2500 fuel injection system, but this video takes the guesswork out of a lot of the theory behind making that sort of upgrade to a carbureted vehicle. A GM TBI unit, ECU, harness, vapor return line, mechanical fuel pump block-off plate, and some sort of fuel pump should be all I need. 80s-90s Ford pickups sometimes have external pumps, one of those would do nicely on my Torino, and my fuel pickup is driver side, down low, so I might even try an in-tank install.

    From a similar setup, there was guys dyno running carb vs efi and they found the efi is better suited on a single plane intake, not dual like he installed his on.

    Ford Torino was only made through 1976, they never got injection, so piecemeal is all I have to work with. Good news recently since this posting, I learned the CA emission Torinos had a vapor return line in their sending unit and that sending unit and line are reproduced so I can just buy those and not worry about the fuel lines or sending unit. If I get real lucky I'll find a way to install the pump in-tank so it'll be quieter.

    Says to mount pump inside tank for a returnless setup but shows mounting the pump externally.

    • @Goldiney
      @Goldiney 6 лет назад

      Nah. You can install it within 2' of the tank and keep the returnless set up.

    Always run a return system, always mount the fuel pump in the tank, by-pass the computer fuel pump sensor, and only use 1 fuel filter. If you do otherwise you are inviting problems. I learned the hard way.

    It seems like a negative that the ecu is built right into the unit. All that heat from the engine will be transferred right into the electronics. It would probably fail after a few years of use.

    • @Maples01
      @Maples01 8 лет назад

      That is why I am watching these, every one is the same, I have a van, the engine in the doghouse has far more heat due to less room for air circulation, in fact, a simple exhaust manifold leak at the head was causing the engine to run hot.

    When the key is on its purging gas and hears clicking. When cranking the engine I don't see gas coming out inside the throttle body. Is this defective?

    the video is a bit rushed. It should be at least a 30 minute tutorial so that we can see how it comes together. For comparison purposes, the "Edelbrock E street 2" video is 45 minutes long. So far the Edelbrock E street with the fuel system, done under the hood, is the most thought out system for a home install. The MSD is a nice, much is in the unit, but I still feel its a complex job to put it on a typical car.The wiring and fuel hoses, rear to front, is the headache.

    The one thing I do not like is the stupid move of placing the electronics right onto of the engine the hottest location were they WILL FAIL!
