  • Back in the nineties, almost all mountain bikes had long stems and narrow handlebars! We already made the narrowest handlebar video, so now it's time for the longest stem! Thanks to our friends at ‪@gcn‬ we have borrowed some different length road bike stems, but just how far can Blake go? 🤔

That’s a true mullet. Mullets are larger/longer in the rear so a “mullet” would have a 29 rear and a 27.5 front. What people call a “mullet” should really be called an “emo”. Emo has larger/longer in the front, so the larger wheel on the front is an “Emo”. At least that’s my take; I’m trying to popularize the term. 😁

Love these videos. The handlebars is still one of my all time favorites. How about try....
Start with a 200mm fork and keep going down to a sub-100mm fork on the same frame
Start with a big saddle and keep going smaller down until it's just a seat post up the a$$
Start with a XL bike and move down to a XXS and even to a 20" and 16" bike - same trail

Im an adaptive rider and this video gives a good idea of what it's like with the long stems. Right now i have bmx bars on with the stem flipped around. That last stem could be a nice alternative option.

Agreed, I would love to see alternating wheel sizes. 29 or 27 front with 27 or 26 rear wheels.

Nice experiment Blake. Can you guys do a video on
    1. Inspiration stories of general public at bike parks and trails. What keeps them on their bike, and what does mtb ing means to them..
    2. How and what categories, entries can regular people race at in EWS. And how does one go about it, and things to keep in mind before making up the mind..

I like my 40mm stem with 20mm rise on the bars. I have tried both 30 and 20mm rise bars and 35, 40 and 50mm stem and the combination i'm on currently on my bike feels amazing for me

My bike came speced with a 100mm stem and 620mm bar. I've since swapped to a 60mm stem and 720mm bar and I love it.

Excellent production! That was actually informative and funny as hell. Hey how about trying different tyre size and/or tread type. You could go from a skinny city tyre to a plus size enduro.

have you seen that 'riser' stem that has hydraulics in it like a riser seat post?
It's so you can go from regular stubby stem to negative rise long stem at a push of a button to allow you to climb better once you're at the bottom of your run. Looks a bit like the Mercedes F1 DAS system.
That may be fun to test
