My wrist is finally recovering after 6 months of struggling with a repetitive stress injury and i’m hoping it stays positive from here.

Wow amazing! It takes serious guts to cover Charles’ work and you absolutely killed it. I wish there was a bit more treble in the mix so all the nuances are easier to hear, but overall great work!

Thanks! Yes I have been visiting a physio therapist and they have given me exercises and stretches which have been helping. It’s starting to feel good again and i’m hoping it continues to recover!

Awesome cover. To my ear about the only thing missing is potentially expensive hardware. I really like the synth pedal guitar sound effect that Charles uses. The first time I heard it I thought he was adding guitar sounds to the track, but the interview he just did with Rick Beato describes and demos the equipment he used.
Are those kind of boxes super expensive? I didn't see anyone else mention it in the comments so maybe it's just me, but I really think it really adds to the piece and I was wondering if you thought about using one if you ever re-recorded this after your wrist gets better?
Anyway minor point probably, keep up the great work, looking forward seeing more.
@@MichaelSTaylor hi, I’ll have to look into that! I would like to re record it one day when I’ve fully recovered as there are many things that I believe could be improved upon. I also recorded this video before Charles re released the song with added instrumentation on the backing track so my cover is from his original video using gold strings where the backing track was simply drums! @@RickyHarline Hey Ricky, I’ve been playing for around 6 years and this has been one of my favourite songs to play! If you work on getting a strong grasp of the fundamentals for both the slap and tap techniques then it’s definitely an achievable goal! Good luck learning it!

sounds incredibly good, my only suggestion would be to roll off some bass and turn up the high end, especially because this is mostly slapping and tapping. well done 👏
@@adiian_008 Thanks! I agree, I would definitely adjust the tone differently if I was recording it now. 🙏🏻
If you upped the high end a bit, maybe a _slight_ adjustment to gain as well on top of that, it would give you a bit more of a punchy sound. Great playing though, hell of a good job you've done.

Hey, the 16th note ghost notes in Bar 21. A to A, then those ghost 16ths. How are you playing those? I can't figure out what charles is doing there. Best I've come up, and it doesn't sound close to what he's doing, is to slap down with the whole right palm, then pluck the second ghost note a fraction of a second before the two down thumb slaps on the C# D.
Thanks! I would recommend practicing that section more until the motion becomes comfortable and clean as it sounds like you’ve got the right idea. Seems as all the strings are being muted it doesn’t really matter how you slap that first ghost note so it can be with your palm, that’s kind of how I do it, as long as your thumb is hitting along the top of the fretboard it should sound good. Then the second ghost note is just a standard pluck. Getting the rhythms right is the most important thing so slow it down and make sure you’re timing is right first. Good luck learning it! It’s definitely a fun one to play!
pretty good, bro! Some high mids would have done a favor to this piece I think. The higher notes are very low volume in your mix. keep it up though, nice work!
