    Superb work! I just took your tips as smoothly as they came in your video for my 2015 Yamaha Fz1. Except I did not modify the header pipe. And the Cat. I just left it. Modifying the Titanium from the Yoshimura Exhaust I cut was sufficient for me. Gratitude for your video! It helped with the dis assembly of that darn heavy stock muffler!!!

    First of all, thanks for this very good tutorial. Made me do this almost blindfolded, even though im a bit heavy handed. Happy that ugly stovepipe is finally gone and looking forward to install my GP Pro.
    Thanks again mate and greetings from Germany.

    Disconnect the cables at the valve. With the bike off and the valve spring loaded against the rest, check that the position of the first bead aligns over the detent in the valve wheel. Manually rotate the valve and not the distance the opposite detent travels. This is how far the cable should retract with the motor started and throttle opened. If you never removed the cables you should be real close.

    Doing that mod will drop horsepower by about 6 bhp so you will benefit in power after fitting a pc3 or pc5 or ecu reflash as the fueling will go lean without it

    You do get some popping on decel but it is greatly reduced when you block the AIS, (more on that in another video). I liked the short looks of the MiVV, plus I did not want a big logo on the pipe. Sound wise it is exactly what I was after but most aftermarket pipes probably sound great too.

    To improve the FZ1 do three things before any engine mods 16 tooth front sprocket (£10) jack up kit (25mm)(£50) second hand 04 on R1 forks (fully adustable) and brakes (radial) (see ebay). You will be amazed how much quicker the bike steers

    Hey CopperDawg. Thanks alot for this great and detailed video. I own a '09 FZ1-N and I am about to switch the stock muffler for a Mivv Suono Carbon slip-on. At the same time, I would like to polish the pipes all the way up to the exhuast manifolds, as they have some dark stains, and my goal is to make them look like brand new... or at least, to look better than they look. What would you recommend as a cleaning procedure and products? Thank you.

    Hi there ! As i mentioned via private message, i just love your vids and i want to warn everybody who wants to mount a Mivv Suono Exhaust - you will expirience a dramatic lack in performance. So, if you not wanna invest in a powercommander, pick another exhaust !

    Not when you re-install the EXUP motor. The ECU doesn't know the cables and valve are gone. Nearly five years with my mike and I have never had a Code thrown up.

      buelle109 ive been troubleshooting serious engine probs on my freinds bike for a while now. We are stumped.
      One thing I noticed is that the servo motor is gone and the wires seem to be disconnected. I was wondering if this was effecting the ecu at all.
      Basically, the bike seems to sputter and run poorly after riding it for a while, once it's warmed up. It will even die completely sometimes. We replaced all 4 coils and plugs, and checked the wiring in between the coils and the ecu for ground faults, etc. No issues there. We even went as far as replacing the ecu. The problem still came back after! I don't know what else it could be.
      All I know is that the previous owner removed the exup servo motor along with the valve. And did nothing with the wires.
      Have you ever seen or heard of this before?

    How much is the stock truck muffler weight, compared to the new slip on. How much was the performance enhancements, after doing the work ? BTW nice looking bike, I have considered buying one, if I go to a 1000cc size bike, one last question, how is the fuel useage now ?.. Thanks. yl

    Hi. Since i'm not familiar with terms like "bogs down" and "pulling off" (another native language ;)) i'm not able to understand your full problem, but i think you mean that "popping" sounds when closing the throttle ? If yes, disable the AIS ! (as described in another video of buelle109).

  • @andyburton5121

    Thanks for the prompt reply buddy but I didn't understand it all. Different terminology and I'm not mechanically minded.
    Should the valve be in the closed position with both cables taught for correct setup? At what point will I see a reaction when the servo valve opens............when its warm and being revved?
    Thanks

    Planning on doing this, but instead of a slip on pipe, I'm going to just remove the internal end cap on the stock muffler. With this and the cat removal, will I need a re-flash?

  • @buelle109
    @buelle109  11 лет назад

    Is the current muffler a slip-on? If you go from one slip on to another you will be close. If on the other hand your going from stock muffler to a slip-on, a new map may be better.

    Iv had to put my original exhaust back on as the slip on got damaged. I never removed the valve cables simply strapped them up. I have reconnected the cables now at the exhaust end but am struggling to adjust them and check if they work. Any tips on adjusting them and checking if they work please.

    Doesn't that servo controlled valve have an effect on performance?

    • @buelle109
      @buelle109  7 лет назад +3

      It is only partially closed at idle and most other times is fully open. Depending on the slip on you use, the bike can have a small variance of RPM at idle but the valve being removed has no effect under acceleration.
