I have been waiting all week to see everyone's reaction to this episode. I absolutely love the design for the Kirin, and Autumn Blaze is just to adorable.
I'll bet that the first Kirin to discover the power of the stream of silence was surprised! But if she was surprised no one could tell, the stream does suppress emotions after all
this episode speaks to me in a way. I for one don't talk much, and this episode showed me that there should be a balance between not talking and talking too much.
This episode is good in that people can find different things to relate to. I suffer with anger management issues; so I'm constantly having to keep from turning into a Nirik with family, friends, or in public. I have gotten in trouble in the past when I've let it get away from me, but I usually remember that adage of going off somewhere to vent and cool off before doing something drastic.

I love this episode, which I was thankfully able to watch earlier thanks to a certain streaming service having it. My favourite parts are the creepy conductor (He's hilarious! That last part with laughing while pulling the roll down always gets me x'D), Applejack's first meeting of Autumn, the rainbow scene, the song, and Autumn defending Flutters and Apples.
I really enjoyed this episode! It’s thanks to the introduction of the Kirin, Autumn Blaze(who is a great character and my second favorite next to Silverstream) and her song that made me rank this one of the best episodes of S8 overall.
I saw this one early, and I really liked it. Mostly for the Kirin. Although, I kinda thought AJ was portrayed as too impatient. Not out of character, just too aggressive and not understanding.
Yeah, Fluttershy was on point. My main issue is with AJ, who upon meeting a new race who seem mute and there’s zero indication they could talk, she gets angry and keeps trying to trick them into talking. She doesn’t even try asking Yes/No questions, she just throws a fit right in their faces. I’d half expect her to push a paraplegic’s wheelchair down a flight of stairs, suspicious they might really be able to walk.

There was probably one scene that I really couldn't agree was Fluttershy and was the scene where Fluttershy specifically said that its okay to lose your feelings because of an "accident". She doesn't even listen to what aj just said. Then she proceeds to accept it without even apologize to aj that she yelled at her. Even though Aj apologised at least each time she was saying something wrong. She's apologised before but for the sake of the episode to make a point, they made both of them go out in a way that so unlike them. Especially in a episode where the most coolest looking creatures are introduced and the best kirin.
I’m aware it’s a kids show that teaches lessons. And I make allowances for story contrivances a lot of the time. But it doesn’t hurt to point out character inconsistencies, and that doesn’t mean I want them to be perfect. It would have actually worked better with Rainbow Dash, it fits her character better to act that way. I get it, we all get frustrated with the analysts who try and suck the fun out of everything, while holding a kids cartoon to the same standards as great literature. But a degree of consistency in characterization isn’t too much to expect.

I also love the chemistry between Rainbow ane Pinkie; I cannot picture them both as pegasi in generation 5, their being different is what makes them work. I also love Rainbow and Scootaloo; seeing them compete in the Sisterhooves Social was such a treat. Some of course found it odd that it had a pie eating contest after 'Secrets and Pies'; but I say she did it for Scootaloo which is a testament to how much she loves her. Also I think her competitive nature helped push her along.
My reaction to this episode's idea at first: They have a magical stream that can erase your voice and some of your emotions, turning you into a blank slate with no way to express your individuality!?!?!?!......That's Starlight's job!!!
Well, there's no doubt that if she had been sent, she'd figure out the solution to the problem in a heartbeat seeing as how she's had to learn how to manage her anger quite a few times.

This was a very good episode. Definitely loved the moral the episode taught, and I'm happy to say that Autumn Blaze is someone I hope returns, even if she probably won't because she's a guest VA. But the whole Kirin/Nirik situation does raise a strange question: Is Starlight part-Kirin? It would certainly explain how her anger can create a blood-red hurricane of power that spills out of her horn, and it would explain why we don't know who her mother is... Okay, yes, stupid theory, but it's just a question.

It was kind of a joke. I forgave Starlight pretty quickly for the whole thing. Took me about one or two episodes.

I know that I'm a little late and I'm afraid that will happen for episode 24 as well as the finale too as I want to watch that through the reaction of AppleGeek first. Though I still look forward to your reaction to both. I already heard a few mixed reviews on episode 24 and have seen one spoiler picture for the finale that makes me hate that we still have a week to go as it raises a lot of questions, but I think I am looking forward to your reactions as much as I am looking forward to Applegeek's.
